Thursday evening, BFD A-Shift was dispatched mutual aid to Smiths Station Fire Rescue in the 900 block of Lee Road 319 for a reported residential structure fire. SSFR was originally dispatched for a report of smoke in the attic. Firefighters arrived on scene and discovered light smoke showing from the eaves of the residence, and the call was upgraded to a working structure fire. Upon BFD arrival, firefighters were assigned interior fire attack. Firefighters had to open up the walls and ceiling to gain access to the fire in the attic space. The fire was located using thermal imaging camera's, and was quickly extinguished. The fire was contained to two rooms in the residence. No injuries were reported on scene. The cause of the fire was believed to be an electrical malfunction.
Beulah Fire Department responded with one apparatus, two personnel, and were on scene for approximately two hours before returning to service.
