Closest we have ever got to an actual Fallout game movie adaptation. I mean, the show is ok... but this is truly the core essence of Fallout. Bleak, utterly dystopian. Heavy with character (RPG) elements and plenty of VATS moments. Absolute peak of what roaming the Wasteland is like...
I'm not religious but really enjoyed this one just as I would any fantasy film. It's got some great scenes in it and is not talked about much anymore, but I think there's some greatness in this film. The quality of the story and how it's told matter and every movie that stands the test of time proves it.
There are some real life allegories. The Ukraine invasion reminded me of this movie. Putin was at the peak of his powers. Had infiltrated all of Europe (secretly) and was about to get them hooked on oil and gas long term. Got away with the invasion of Georgia, Crimea and Eastern Ukraine. But, the guy wasn't satisfied. Needed more power. And, even if it is a victory for Putin, it's a pyrrhic one one. I'm hopefully, it will lead to his downfall like the Gary Oldham character. (Obviously not unique to Putin, but a lot of authoritarian leaders.)

It's been years since I've seen this movie. I didn't realize that during Redige's two opening shots, there was such a "Hand of God" aspect at play, because he totally hit the backpack on the second one. . .nearly. I always thought he was just a s**t shot or it was an old and degraded pistol. Fascinating. I think I need to watch it again.
Couple things to note: Redridge did not miss those first two shots, They were miracles and when the gunfight started, Denzel only shot at those who fired at him first for self defense.
For anyone that has to demo a sound system... this clip running from Blu-ray or a good 4k streaming service with good sound is great. Also, when Winters leads a group in destroying German artillery emplacements firing on Utah Beach from Brécourt Manor in episode 2 of Band of Brothers is great, too.
Watch "Fahrenheit 451" - owning books is against the law. Fire departments are not meant to put out fires, but to burn books. The end is very moving, much like this movie.

The idea is a mix of him always responding after shots, so he hears where they shoot then shoots after, and that essentially he’s being guided and protected by god, like when the first shot misses and the guy is confused how he missed. Also why in the one scene where the girl tries to bait him into getting robbed, he backs into the enclosed area before fighting, better for him to basically echolocate
He is blind the whole time it’s not a fan theory it’s confirmed god led him by faith not sight. I’m the beginning when he finds those boots from the guy who is hanging in the closet he almost dropped his gun trying to put it on a table you can see he had to feel around to make sure he placed it securely
I wish this scene wasn't in the movie because does push the suspension of belief a little too far. I liked it when he was a zaitochi or daredevil character, relying on senses to get him through, but to be able to fire a gun and hit someone with accuracy based on sound is something that wouldn't pass the first 30 seconds of mythbusters. And if he was literally relying on god to pull him through a gunfight i like the movie even less, because if god is helping you get to the end of the movie, why am i watching?

There was another scene where the girl asked him, whether walking for 30 years, he ever felt like he was lost. He said he hadn’t but that he was walking by faith, not by sight. Turned out he needed these 30 years to memorize the Bible perfectly, which was part of his purpose.
The most unbelievable thing about this film is, that out of any book it’s the bible they are short copies of… I can’t think of any other post apocalyptic world where it isn’t the most numerous book. 😂

@@michaellee7841 assault rifles have large magazines too. Plus there's a magazine you can put in a 9mm that holds 30 rounds. 9mm normally has 17 rounds.

There was another scene where the girl asked him, whether walking for 30 years, he ever felt like he was lost. He said he hadn’t but that he was walking by faith, not by sight. Turned out he needed these 30 years to memorize the Bible perfectly, which was part of his purpose.
Eli is a man who is guided by faith. Carnegie is a man guided by his own ambitions.
The most unbelievable thing about this film is, that out of any book it’s the bible they are short copies of… I can’t think of any other post apocalyptic world where it isn’t the most numerous book. 😂

Eli isn't blind. He was blind - but miraculously regained his sight. He attributed this to his faith in the good book.
The shootout is a clear proof of his sight - a blind man wouldn't need to turn his head and see his target to shoot him down.

The biggest plot twist was he's blind and the bible he was carrying was for blinds.
