    Boi at 3:05 when the guard nearly fell and those women laughed at them, I actually felt like buying a ticket to London to slap them. Marching is already difficult enough. Plus the Royal Guards have to Stand up Straight in any weather for 10+ hours. Plus there are literally puddles on the ground, so YES it is slippery. Mad Props on not falling on his face like I would have in that situation. He handled it like a boss.

      Why is that dumb broad laughing in the first place? He recovered from a slip standing straight up with good posture. It looked he glided forward. That broad would probably fall on her stupid face.

      Thanks! I have been - several times since that Changing of the Guard experience. My sister is handicapped and uses a mobility scooter - we had the most wonderful experience visiting the Queen’s Gallery, then touring The Buck. They let her tootle all around both on her scooter. I was a complete wreck. She’s a wild thing on that scooter. I mean - what could possibly go wrong?!? Right? We actually came face-to-face with the Princess Royal as she was stepping out a door and into her chauffeured car! I didn’t know what else to do, so I, an American, popped a pretty respectable curtesy! She smiled and waved. We still can’t believe that really happened!

Some of them have seen things you can't even imagine and they just stand there getting mocked when on guard duty.

      Please elaborate.
      The version of the story that I had from a Guards publication was that it was written by Mozart as a child, while staying at St James's Palace. He gave a copy to the Band Master of the Coldstream Guards and they have played it ever since.
      Many years later, When Figaro opened in London, people recognised the march as that which the Coldstream Guards played.

He was very proud of have been a Guardsman, I used to watch with amusement on the occasions when he met by chance another of his kind also wearing the Brigade of Guards or Regimental ties, which was usually how they knew each other. No matter about differences in age or background, it was like some sort of secret society from which we mere mortals were excluded.

    The English have more dignity in a simple changing guards ( if there is anything like a simple changing guard ), then the German in a great Zapfenstreich. I say this as a German. Though the Bundeswehr has very good musicians too, the English manage to walk to Mozart and appear as professional soldiers. The only advance the Bundeswehr has to the English army is, that they grew a lot more peacefull after ww2.

    • @surengrigorian7888
      @surengrigorian7888 ปีที่แล้ว

      The English have enough people proud of their country. Be proud of yours for a change.
      Perhaps if they were more keen on that than on being peaceful, their ceremonies might be considerably better. As for the Großer Zapfenstreich, the torchlit aspect of the ceremony is beautiful. And no one writes marches better than the Germans. Mozart, after all, was Austrian German…
