Alabama Power withdraws intent for Chandler Mountain project

Alabama Power announced Thursday it has decided to withdraw its Notice of Intent to seek a license from the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) to operate a Pumped Storage Hydro facility at Chandler Mountain.
The proposal raised questions from local families whose land could be lost if the project moves forward. Many voiced their opinions at public meetings held in Rainbow City last month.
