I totally agree. I am 90 years old and have seen a lot of Carmens and Elina is the best I have ever seen or heard. As many times as I have seen it I still gasp when she gets stabbed.

Todos lo cantantes dieron lo mejor de cada uno de ellos, sin embargo, Elina, Vargas , el barítono y Micaela, estuvieron cantando maravillosamente, fue un argumento muy dramático e intenso y sublime. En hora buena por el elenco, la orquesta, los coros y el grandioso trabajo orquestal.

Beaucoup ont sûrement pensé que si l'amour n'était pas aveugle, quelquefois, pour la plus grande gloire toutefois de la nature humaine, cette Carmen là, avec ce Don José là, auraient eu beaucoup de mal à s'amouracher l'un de l'autre, tant Carmen est belle, si belle que leur histoire paraît peu crédible... Si elle ne l'aime pas pour sa belle mine, sans doute l'aime-t-elle alors pour sa belle voix. La "chose" n'est pas courante dans la vie courante. Elle n'est pas rare à l'opéra. On aimerait que ce soit dans la vie comme à l'opéra, ce serait là le signe que la nature humaine aujourd'hui n'accorde pas autant d'importance à l'apparence physique.
Signe qu'elle est enfin sur une bonne voie, ou pour le moins ...sur une meilleure.

The mikes allow people with modest incomes to enjoy the opera, also.
@@cstamitz Gee...and here I thought that the body microphone were used to help those with smaller voices to be heard and not to aid the financially challenged....Sit down, knucklehead...Kaufmann has been in decline for some some time but only his cult following cannot hear that...
If you can afford the best seats, a body microphone is unnecessary but ticket prices are now extremely high. Without a microphone, people in the less expensive seats can barely hear the music.
