Another masterpiece Mikko! Brave move using bolts and pine. It's a delicate balance. Pine usually requires more weight, so you need a fatter bait body, but then you increase buoyancy, so you need more weight, but then you run out of body... 🤣 Experience - I think the expression "The master has failed more times than the novice has tried" fits well here.
Thank you for another great video and a really beautiful lure. The action of the lure looks really good and my favorite is how you painted the back on this one.
Foil, scales..I'm all ears lol.Your craft is superb as always. Like the scissor idea around the gill plates. I've also found a small cut off piece of tupelo with a pointed edge works awesome as well. Love your work.
@SolarfallBaits yes Mikko. They hacked in and I still haven't been able to get their email removed from the account. They removed my Gmail and replaced it with their email. I still have one email connected to my account. I'll have to tackle that issue very soon. I apologize for any inconvenience it has caused. I had a friend post that my account was hacked.
@ i figured. They were asking money from me and i immediately thought that it cant be coming from you and that you myst have been hacked. Damn that sucks, i hope you can get your account back somehow
@SolarfallBaits yes, they tried going through Facebook meta pay and charge my PayPal account. Changed my bank card and I just need to kick them off. Would you consider adding your sweet Meg stencil to your members account. I heard you mention it in your video. Just curious as I happen to be one of the artistically challenged. Lol 😂.
I've used a lot of Pine construction lumber to make fishing lures, and as you mentioned the finer, tighter grain is the the way to go. Pine does present certain challenges on its own but this new fast growth lumber is very hard to work with. A sharp knife and unending patience help a lot when carving details! An absolute beauty of a lure! The only criticism I could offer is the "test tank" is a bit small for the lure. 😅I know this time of year, especially, it's tough to get out to real water. Merry Christmas Mikko!
Very good point. I started out using construction grade pine cutoffs because I had them readily available. I learned quickly not to bother with extreme details unless it had very tight grain. I'll still use it for basic shapes, then paint any details
Nice job on the foil lure. I have done some foiled lures with some degree of success,b ut none turned out as nice as this. Instead of using your bathtub, build a lure test tank like Marling Baits did, that way you can show off your baits much better. You can find his channel here on TH-cam. Nate's a cool lure-maker and you might pick up some info you didn't already know as well.
Stadler pens write like a sharpie but they dry very fast on non porous surfaces like glass. They are very permanent and for work with stained glass, you need alcohol to remove it.
Great video, you should try and put a yellow base layer under the fin before you paint the black, to give it the yellow fin aesthetic, would look proper! Did you catch anything on the lure??
I'm getting better at making lures, but every time I see your creations, I remember how much better it's possible to be! Glad you're back! We're curious about your new shop, show us some more!
Material is not a problem. Pine, Cedar, & Birch is easiest for me to use. My biggest challenge is working with smaller baits (3-4 in range), which some still deem as being big.
Keep up the great content mate your doing amazing you have also motivated me to start making my own lures recently in the past couple of months i have been making my own lures and they are good but i still feel like somethings can improve if anyone could give me some advice or tips and tricks that would be amazing hope to see another video soon mate 👍
If you want to make your videos better, show us the action of the lure cranked at different speeds, in a lake. If it doesn't work right, then it's pretty, but it's not truly a lure. A bathtub doesn't cut it. Constructive criticism.
MERRY CHRISTMAS back to ya...great looking bait as always...videos are instructional as always...you have help me with my lure painting . Charley @ K.O.B.B (kranky ole bastard baits)
Ho ho ho it's a Christmas miracle i'm back :)
Glad you’re doing well.
Merry Christmas my man
You may disappear for half a year but you are the true bait making master 🙏
Outstanding craftsmanship. Stunning lure.

I'm glad you like it, I've been using those scissors for years!
Yes! Another solarfall video! Your lures are incredible.
Looks alove and the movements are realistic
Now u need a boat and a wide ocean to use it
Well done 👍🏻
Thanks, appreciate it!
You're welcome
Thanks for the early Christmas present Mikko! Happy holidays to you and your family brother! I hope you enjoy your New Home bud!
Hey Moses, weird question but was your facebook hacked recently?

Thanks! Yeah, I’m definitely going to need a bigger tank for next time.

Looks amazing but also looks like it would be difficult to cast in a head on wind, the kind that is common around the coast.
Awesome Mikko!!!

Yeah I agree, smaller baits are definitely harder to work with but much more rewarding in the end
So nice!!!!
If you put stretch film on the scale, the scale will not get dirty.😊
👍👍👍👍👍
Where did you get all your screw eyes?
Various places across the internet
Широко иде. Ситније за смуђа.
Hi mikko, quick question: do you test the lure before epoxy coating or you just go for it and hope the movement is ok? Thanks, and merry Christmas! :D
I don't usually test anything. I basically already know what works so i dont need to
Super 👍🏻 sehr schön

Hi if you don't mind me asking... How thick is the lip material
@@garethpetzer3384 i used 3mm thick lexan
@SolarfallBaits thank you
Is that triangular ruler the very same one I think all Finnish kids got in the 90s? :D I also still got mine somewhere.
Yeah i think thats the one i got from school
Grate skill !
Gut Job
