Me and my GF watched this and she cried so much during this. She had a very similar childhood and it wasnt until we met and she went to therapy, she broke the cycle of abuse from her mother and step father. This was a fantastic show.

The first guy she was hoping for is nice but too weak in my opinion. The guy she actually got engaged to knows how to refuse when he needs to and stand up for her like she deserves.
When they had Mio tied up I was so worried they'd take a page from East Asian history and pour boiling water/oil on her to make her disfigured (so Kiyoka wouldn't want to marry her anymore). So glad that wasn't the case!!
That was really messed up to see compared to how they treated her in the previous episodes. Thankfully that was the last time we see her messed up family

The thing that angers me is that the father just sits by an look at what she is doing to his own flesh and blood and he says an do nothing.dude got no balls if he can't control his own home.
The father is just a jerk. Because he thinks she doesn't have powers and her mother was someone he was forced to marry he sees no value in her so doesn't care about her. The only person he cares about is himself. She can't bring him prestige so she's worthless.
Despite this world being magical and all its very much an allegory of the high standards of certain cultures and how your worth is based off your usefulness. He has no love , he just sees which of his seed will obtain his family’s honor

This is the best anime recap I’ve ever seen. This story is sad happy and unknown as well. Even though this is not real it fells like my emotions to defend Someone are more seen from me. It’s like seeing my sister getting bullied from some guys because she’s doesn’t feel like a man or women (real story). I really felt sad happy and released as well. He didn't have any previous wives, they were women who came to "apply" to be his bride. None of them passed his "test" so he never married any of them.
While Mio wasnt at fault for what had happened being raised in a toxic environment, she is definitely at fault for hiding her worries from Kyoka despite everything he's done for her. Communication is key for a long amd healthy relationship.

I like the anime better than the live version. It's a much more comprehensive and cohesive story. The live version is good, but, there seems to be a lot of missing information that's important to the development of the story. I really like Godou. He's quite a character.
I think I want to marry Kyoka now and is always imagining myself as Myo. He is probably my ideal husband because of his vulnerability and I love the way he looks at her.

If I had to find it again, I'd search by genre in an effort to narrow the list. I'd also suspect it's popular (many views and high rating). Anyone who likes a Cinderella story will like this. Koji seems like such a standup dude. Not only did he treat her well in the beginning, after he found out she was happy with another guy, he stood up to his wife and father to defend her even tho he has nothing more to do with her at that point.

I recognize the story and the art style as it was good enough to be memorable.
If I had to find it again, I'd search by genre in an effort to narrow the list. I'd also suspect it's popular (many views and high rating). Anyone who likes a Cinderella story will like this. Good luck--it will be worth it.
