From a business standpoint I’d definitely open up a restaurant featuring only invasive species for super low cost and turn it to chain restaurants, but I’m also satisfied as a photographer.

i cant believe these guys are acting like they dont know where the lion fish came from, when back in the early 80's lion fish were a hot seller in the Pet Aquarium businesses along the south atlantic coast. From Boca to deerfield on down to miami. It was even common to see lion fish in music videos and television shows shot in florida inside peoples aquariums. And how did these fish get out into the atlantic. Well. back then salt water aquariums business was huge. everyone wanted the bigger and baddest tank. but few knew the complexity of maintaining a tank with various types of fish all from different regions of the world, not to mention the massive time and costs involved. As such when people gave up, instead of destroying the fish or selling back to pet shops (which shops typically didnt buy back not knowing what kinda bacterial infections and pestilence such fish may carry) their owners not wanting to destroy the fish often opting to dump their fish into the canals and outlets all along the coast, some specifically dumping their fish from their boats never considering the possible harm to the ecosystem. i know this, because i saw it first hand many times. Today, those very same aquarium pet shops have far worst than lionfish in their possession, lets not even get into all the species of piranha, and no ones doing anything about it. So with all this talk of the invasive species problem, all one has to do is got to their local big business fish aquarium shop to see first hand the source of the problem. no.. i love exotic animals like the next guy, but considering the utter damage these things can do without their native predators to keep them in check. i say no to their possession and sales, and forget fines, only hard jail time will prevent such sales. cause youd gota be all kinds of stupid to get 15 or more years just to sell an exotic animal no matter the cost.

These things got in here the same way pythons and anacondas did, jackasses who wanted a cool pet but got bored an irresponsibly dumped them in the wild. Some people are just completely selfish and now everyone else needs to pay the price. they ought to outlaw selling these kinds of animals to people and put anyone outside research labs and aquariums caught with them with intent to sell behind bars and anyone with ones as pets should get a hefty fine.

With enough time yes. But animals don’t adapt when they don’t even have a chance to. There have to be survivors in order for it to work out. And even so it will take hundreds of generations before the fish start adapting. By then the lion fish population would be even worse.

@@alyrojas623 there is no such thing as a pleasant death. Wether you insult them or not. If at the end of the day if your going to wipe them out then it’s all the same action. Although of course it should always be done with the intent to help preserve and conserve nature. Not simply with the notion of killing for the sake of killing. Although there are also times when we must acknowledge that we can’t wipe them out in the way we wish we could. So we need to request help from people who have no mindset for respect to kill. And so long as they don’t kill native species. We should get the same result in the end.

@@rageraptor7127 I know there is no such thing as a Pleasant death all im saying is that man should have a bit more respect towards the animals who he is killing. i understand these fish are an invasive species and will completly destroy the ecosystem if allowed to their own devices and need to be removed or lowered in numbers until they are eradicated from that area or the ecosystem has time to adapt to the new threats, however his line of thinking that the lionfish are "EVIL" is the same type of reasoning that has lead to the near extinction of many large predators around the world. his mockery twords the fish he's about to exterminate just really annoyed me 😅

Interesting. I've seen these native diving in Egypt in the Red Sea, however nobody really ate them there, at the same time I never saw them as abundant in this documentary. I guess there must be some other way they are controlled there.
I guess it's like American crayfish in the rivers in the UK, and American grey squirrels computing with the native English / European species. I'm an environmentalist but I need to eat too and I've caught crayfish in rivers in the UK when I lived in Oxford too. I've never thought of catching lionfish though, wouldn't want to try lol. I'm glad it's at least fun to do. Some asshole properly released his fish in the sea so other human can come and fix the problem now.

Invasive species give me some EVOLVE FPS vibes. We’re fighting a loosing war. But we still fight. Bro if I was in that water. I would be spearing these things left and right all day until I literally couldn’t go anymore. I wouldn’t even care if I got to eat. Just leave em to die in the water.

Don't know, leave them in the water someone steps on it or something tries to eat it. Better a hot BBQ or bonfire.

Hate the people who released them to the wild, these fish are just doing what they do in nature - survive. Hating an animal for its very nature is utterly retarded.

I personally have a lionfish in my large aquarium. Even though I think he is super cool I totally respect the decision to try and manage the population in the ocean.. when he was a baby I was told I wouldn't have to worry about my clown fish. I had planned on putting our clownfish in another tank, but never got the chance. Within 2 days he ate both my clownfish 🙄. But have to respect his instinct
