actually i really like the comission thingy. like i plainly suck at mapping, i've spent a lot of time but i think i'm just not cut out for it. but i still wanna see songs i love in osu! and i know that no one will ever map them. i still won't give money for that but if i wasn't a student and got some more money monthly then i'd really like the option to be out there :x
oh and A R M I N maps > sotarks maps in terms of ez pp farming for me but seemingly that's not the case for most others :x

As I've become a more experienced player, I realised that there is no way to discard a mapper just because of their maps. I remember when I just became kinda active in the Osu! Community and learned sotarks memes and stuff, did a few farm maps and memed it with friends. I was then actually surprised when I played one of Sotarks' harder maps, where not the entire top 50 had an FC, which Im kind of ashamed about at this point. Your PP maps aren't for me, Sotarks, but you're a really skilled mapper and deserve some love regardless :)
Really found a new respect for Sotarks after this he's actually a decent guy respect man.

Interesting perspective on things. Doesn't change the fact that I think his maps are a tumor in the current meta (thus I won't play any more than what I have at the start of the year), but it's at least an interesting perspective on how he bases his "pp maps". Though I personally disagree with his viewpoint on ignoring map structure (or that's what I got anyway?) - without it, maps feel messy and amateurish to play, but that's just my view on it.

What I get from his viewpoint about structure is that he dislike a map being too rigid im structure. For him it feels like the rigidness of the structure makes the map too 'unstimulating' at a sense, like it just repeats the same slidershape, same implied flow, same blanketing and stuff that it feels too mechanical structure wise. That's how I get it anyway correct me if I'm wrong

monstrata have better [even unique] mapping structure when comparing to Sotarks, and his map is (for me) even more interesting in either perspective (both in playing and looking at the editor) because he doesn't have the mindset of "breaking the pp system" as Sotarks does.
Also, the argument of "my non-pp maps aren't getting as much playcount as the other one" is pretty bullshit, considering you build your reputation as a pp mapper and then whining to the community that your non-pp maps isn't played as much, and your argument on " everything can be ranked as long as the map doesn't break mapping criteria and fits the song" is exactly why mapper like you exist in the first place, because the system doesn't hold accountability of the mapper reasoning of mapping specific map in a specific way. Saying that "there's nothing wrong in a 160 bpm song to have cross-screen jump" isn't subjective in any way when you have the mindset of "fit the song" but you can do it anyway because it "didn't break the rules"

They're all over 8 stars (except for Cycle Hit, which is almost 8 stars) because osu! thinks 1/8 doubles and 1/6 combined with 1/4 is really hard, and on the 1/6 one, some people (me, for example) agree with that a bit. Some, however, find that stuff easy. 1/8 doubles on the other hand, yeah those are very easy. Unless it's like 260bpm and it's a constant stream of them for a minute or more, then yeah it's hard, but it would still give you way more pp than necessary.

I went through your references and didn't find the one I needed which was at 10:23-10:35. I spent a lot of time to find out what the exact map is. fhana - Hoshikuzu no Interlude by Sotarks: osu.ppy.sh/beatmapsets/845954/#osu/1769309. This map leaves absence in the references. I've played probably every map Sotarks has made and I haven't found a single decent one. There are even people he knows who map in a similar style who make much better maps, but for some reason he refuses to even attempt to make a good map. Maybe he's just incapable? Even maps that don't fit his current "heavily undermapped with a section of cross-screen 1-2s and overspaced jumps" meta are all pretty bad, and I play everything and have favorites in pretty much every genre, even from mappers I generally despise. You'd think someone who claims to care about the Osu community would at least try to make the game better and not just troll by feeding into a system that's so bad the game would be better off if it were just deleted outright. If you want a simpler meta with cleaner design, go for it, there are thousands of maps that are fantastically done with that in mind, but you can feel when they actually work well and aren't just random garbage thrown in the editor.

I don't really mind pp map, they'll exist whatever you do about the pp system anyway, but map only a part of a song feels really weird to me, like you search a song you like, take the most downloaded version of it without watching the stats of the map and when you launch the map, it start at the middle of the music and then stops after 40 sec for pp purpose (even if it's not for pp purpose it's weird anyways) i don't really like that when we talk about a rythm game.
A lot of rythme games do so, like Taiko no Tatsujin. It's not necessary wrong, an opening is a part of a song but it's sound well itself. I think you can do it well or bad.

The map/song at 2:36-2:46 is 40mP feat. yuikonnu - Ame to Asphalt by captin1 and the difficulty is Skystar's Extra.
I'm not 100% sure though on the map author and diff though.
