A series that I’m shocked hasn’t blown up is the Unwind series!!!!!! Omg so so so good. It’s about a future America where abortion is illegal however a procedure called “unwinding” is legal and parents can opt for it whenever their children are 13-17. Unwinding is where they harvest 100% of the patients body and donate those various organs to other people (you can imagine how messed up that is) If you love dystopian genres THIS IS THE SERIES FOR YOU!!

Okay, I’ve never sent this book series recommends on booktok: Rangers Apprentice. If you want a medieval, fantasy, action sort of book, you should definitely read this!!! One of the best series I’ve ever read

It’s always the same books that are recommended (ToG, Cruel Prince, Acotar, Mortal Instruments, etc, etc). So, for people who have already read those books, and don’t what else to read, look at
1- My Lady Jane, My Plain Jane. It’s popular, but not talked much about on booktube and booktok. It’s a retelling of the story of Jane Eyre, and the Queen Jane.
2- The Near Witch. A Victoria Schwab book. There’s a mysterious boy, witches, kids disappearing, a badass main character.
3- Spellslinger. A fantasy book about a boy that dosn’t have magic powers, even if he comes from the most powerful family. He uses his intelligence to try and win a tournament. However, it’s much more than that and HILARIOUS. ⚠️There is blood and animal abuse so beware⚠️
-Fate of The Fallen: adult fantasy book inspired by Lord of the Rings. Basically the hero that is supposed to save the world dies at the very beginning :(
-Noughts and Crosses

@Perla Mezher I honestly didn’t like the books at all and the author is also problematic so I would recommend if you have the option to buy them second Hand or you can find the ePub/pdf/.. in the Internet instead of buying them directly new.
But yeah.
Like in the first book it’s so boring. Girl gets kidnapped and she is the whole time in this place of her Kidnapper
In the end it’s like This typical end of fairytales. And defeibetly tw for sexual assault and drugging, because that also happens in the end.
And to not Spoiler you but the other books are even worse because yes someone helps her but this sexual assault and drugging is totally excused what I thought was absolutely disgusting. And from the plot. It’s really boring honestly. Loooong Dialoges, the fighting scenes are short and also have more Dialoge then actual fight scenes. And the war scenes aren’t really like they don’t seem realistic and no one really put real effort into it. Also she writes always these fairytale endings. And yeah. Faerie sex scenes ofc with a lot of growling. And Fr she really excuses so many things. Like in acosf was a loooooot of slut-shaming, without any apology.
But yeah.

@Perla Mezher The Caraval Series, Where Dreams Descend and The Night Circus. These three are all about magic circuses and it’s really mysterious, dangerous and plus the aesthetic it’s just so good. Most of them also have these Victorian aesthetic a little bit.
Cassandra Clare books especially the infernalere devices, but she’s also a problematic author so maybe buy them second hand or get the ePub on zlibrary or type in google *book titel/author* epub/pdf/.. vk.
Her books play in the same universe but in diffrent timelines and her books are about any sort of mystical creatures yk. Vampires, demons, faeries,.. and there are the shadowhunters, who are likely the protectors of humans like a magical police. Great characters and relationships :)
One of my favourite series is also the Red Queen Series by Victoria Aveyard! It has hunger games vibes, dystopian setting, royals, absolutely shattering and sad, great mental health Rep in my opinion, also a great villain, the best I’ve ever read about.
If you like Harry Potter, the marauders especially, friendships, friendgroups, great family Dynamics, little town and roadtrip music vibes and witches. Read the Raven cycle! One of my favourite series! Slowburn romance, great friendships, different povs, really complex characters a little mystery and spiritual witches :) Also it has a interesting concept because it’s about ley lines.

If you like the 20th Century. I definitely recommend you the diviner’s, the gilded wolves and these violent delights. These three play in this time. Great characters, relationships, friendships and friendgroups plus mystery, murder, magic.
Also contemporaries for that timeline are any books of Taylor Jenkins Reid. The seven husbands of Evelyn Hugo and daisy Jones and the six.
One of my favourite authors is also Leigh Bardugo.
Her grishaverse, where most of her books play will be also a Netflix series in April! Shadow and Bone definetly check it out.
If you wanna read them, first read the Shadow and Bone Triology for better knowing of the world and magic system, then read the six of crows duology and then the king of scars duology.
Shadow and Bone has the Chosen one trope, political intrigues and interesting magic system.
It’s a great base for a great world.
With six of crows the author really was much better, so if you might not like shadow and bone still read it for six of crows.
It’s much more diverse, the characters are morally grey, criminals and serial killers, psychopaths and really complex. Also this Setting is like Amsterdam and old London, so the vibes are immaculate.
King of Scars is about a prince we also have as a important side character in shadow and bone and a stormwitch. I didn’t read it yet but the sequel to this duology comes out end of March and I only heard good things.
Also i can definetyl recommend you Gideon the Ninth (Lesbian Maincharacters) and Wicked Saints if you like darker concepts, gothic aesthetic.
What I can also recommend you is some darker stuff. Please search up the triggerwarnings for these books, they are great but really dark.
1. Ninth house is about a girl, seeing ghosts coming to Yale to work for a underground organisation, which works in this supernatural theme. So dark academia vibes. But then someone is murdered and the girl search’s for the killer.
The maincharacter is morally grey, there’s slowburn romance and murder mystery.
2. One of my absolute favourite series Is called the Poppy War Series by R.F. Kuang. Morally Gray mc who seeks for revenge, slowburn romance, enemies to friends to lovers to.. you will see I don’t wanna Spoiler you, vengeful gods and saints. It plays in a fictional country inspired by China, which is on a edge of another war with inspired Japan. There you see it’s also the war is inspired by the war between Japan and China from the Second World War. That’s why also events happen especially to the end of the book to humans and animals which are absolutely cruel and atrocious in the most horrible ways you can imagine. The author wrote things out and not just named them, so please look up the TW. Over these three books we see much politics, war strategies, also colonisation of western countries (white people), betrayal and you will constantly cry. Complex characters and the author even said this was atla in azulas pov, so great friendships found family and still so much loss.

Black sun (pansexual Rep, high fantasy, friendships)
Heartless (The story of the red queen of Wonderland)
The unbecoming of Mara dyer (If you like Death Note..;3)
City of Brass (I didn’t read it yet, but high fantasy, politics, south Asian setting and characters, demons, ..)
Nevernight (Girl seeks for revenge, wlw Rep)
Criers War (Lesbian Characters, I want to kill you trope)
Crown of feathers (Also a Webtoon, politics, two sisters aim for the throne, slowburn romance)
And I darken (Morally Grey Maincharacter or even an absolute villain, Princess wanting the throne, betrayal, politics,.. it’s also a retelling of smth where it was a boy who were this villain. So basically a retelling from his POV but him being a girl)
Daughter of smoke and bone (demons, angels, devils, witches,...)
The Villain Series by V.E. Schwab. Absolutely morally grey characters! Read this it’s absolutely great!
Anything by Marie Lu especially the young elites series. Again morally grey maincharacter seeking for revenge.

My top 5 favorite book series and my favorite characters in them:
1: Mistborn trilogy by Brandon Sanderson, my favorite character is Elend, the book boy.
2: The Shades of Magic trilogy by V.E. Schwab, favorite character is my baby boy Holland, I love him so much.
3: The Stormlight Archive also by Brandon Sanderson, my favorite character is Wit, he is amazing.
4: The Seven Realms series by Cinda Williams Chima(It is SOO underrated it's so good) Favorite is got to be Hayden Fire Dancer, he is also amazing.
5: Vicious also by V.E. Schwab and Red Queen by Victoria Aveyard are tied for 5th, my favorite in Vicious is Victor, and My favorite in Red Queen is probably Shade.
All of these series a so dang depressing so be careful (especially Shades of Magic and Mistborn 😭😭)
All the Sarah J Maas books being thrown at us trough booktok. I read them and read them and disliked all of them.
It was the exact same for me and I am tired of it. I finished her newest "House of Earth and Blood" and it was so bad and boooring I wanted to DNF it multiple times. Her books always have way too many pages, where absolutely nothing is happenning and then like a 100 pages at the end, where she places her whole plot.

That’s fine, we obviously have different reading tastes 😁 Subjectivity and all that. I did finish the book, but I couldn’t get past him watching her nearly drown (encouraging it in fact), and only saving her when she admitted he was better than her? That’s just gross to me. Not to mention how much she kept saying he made her hate herself. He literally had no redeeming qualities in my eyes. Sorry I’m getting annoyed about it all over again 😂

Percy Jackson + heroes of olympus series
- These books got me into reading and every time something sad or major in my life happens I read them, SUCH a comfort series you don't understand. Even if you don't care for greek mythology there is so so so much more to it. I've been reading since I was 10 years old. 10/10

- As a huge percy jackson fan, i love greek mythology so song of achilles was perfect plus the romance is beautiful. 10/10
