    Couldn’t agree more, that guitar tone set a precedence. Also, the attention to detail/technique of the players, the pinches throughout this album are chef’s kiss.

    Adam D/Andy Sneap is the whole reason I got into Audio production. I love the clarity and power behind the killswitch engage mixes

      Every band he did the production on he made the guitars sound insanely good and made them unique so you could tell each one apart from each other. thrill seeker and killing with a smile are 2 of the best I've ever heard besides his own tones.

    Oh man… just imagine if we had the raw tracks from this session. This CD stayed in my head unit for so damn long. Now that I’m an aspiring mixer, there’s a lot to learn from the balances and decisions made. Thanks for covering this!

    Love how not harsh this mix sounds! Also it's interesting how 'big' the song sounds when everything is relatively dry, that's the power of the arrangement and the great sounds

    Sounds more like a punk rock guitar tone, tbh. As someone who doesn't love modern metal, I definitely dig this.

    Ashes Of The Wake by Lamb Of God is my guitar tone gold standard. Adam D is a miracle worker though. The He Is Legend album he mixed is amazing as well.

    One of my favourite references.if your tone sounds anything like that for metalcore you are at least headed in the right direction. That tone is my lighthouse.

    Kurt Ballou gets my favorite heavy guitar tones on AWLWLB.

    I think the guitar tone itself is a bit thin and fizzy tbh, but the way it's mixed is great. The bass is doing a lot of the heavy lifting with regard to palm mute chunks, and it's a nice balance between the two.
    One thing I do appreciate is that it's not too mid-heavy, which I think is a problem in modern metal guitar tones. It has a nice amount of saturation too, but the mic sounds a bit too close to the cap for my liking.

    I am almost positive the amp on this album was a soldano SLO100 or a Laney

    • @michaelskyrealm
      @michaelskyrealm ปีที่แล้ว +6

      This album was a Framus dragon and a 5150 blended. As daylight dies is the slo100.

      @@andrewmorzinski haha yeah i got a little obsessed with their tone a few years back (especially the add tone) and did tons of research on it trying to replicate it in my own productions. I know for a fact that the rhythm guitars on add was the slo and I believe that the leads were a triple rectifier although I cant confirm that.

      They used a Cobra on the song Rose of Sharyn for sure. There is a story about them using it cause the main amp went out

    Talking about guitar tone... The best I've ever heard is Metalicas black album. I'm sure you know the story of how Bob Rock got the tone, but Sad But True has the best guitar sound I've ever heard. I'm sorry. It's the best.
