You know what the biggest kicker is? That a Japanese man did justice to such a renowned and significant Indian story and characters where as Indians(who made Adipurish) are just money hungry vultures who put no heart and soul, hired expensive actors and butchered the execution of the story.

I'm so happy Yugo Sako's Ramayan is getting the recognition it deserves now.. It was my favourite, its songs, everything. Pure old style animation with beautiful scenes. It was really a lot of hardwork cause they literally had to draw every scene frame by frame. Ram Mohan ji was a legend. I always felt sad at how we were not realising that..
Just imagine how brilliantly the Japanese understood our culture..
It must have taken some huge amount of effort considering the absence of the internet to research back then.
The extent to which they are successful in the representation part of it all, is just mind-blowing.
We should all start a petition to re release Ramyan The legend of prince Ram as a remastered version. With the advancements in animation the remastered version would be a treat to watch.

My parents bought this CD when I was in 4th class. That would be year 1999. I watched this with my friends and we were blown away how amazing it was. I even showed it my Nani ji and even she liked it....I miss her.

Amrish Puri sir did a phenomenal job at playing Raavan in this adaptation. He was just so perfect with his voice. I really wish we could see him in some sort of a live-action adaptation as Raavan.

Hinduism has always been liberal. Conservative turn to Hinduism is never accepted. In India we even make soft toys on Gods and Goddesses then what was the problem with Cartoon ? No other religion is as free as Hinduism, be it woman or LGBT rights or scientific temperament. I always respect VHP and RSS but I never knew that they did this condemnable act of banning cartoon version of Ramayana. It's disheartening.

The anime Ramayan is so particular in very minor details. For example, lord vishnu is shown as bright light in his shape. Not like human form. This is a masterpiece.

Truly a perfect adaptation, because it doesn't focus much to glamorize set pieces and characters, but actually puts emphasis on the philosophy of good vs evil, and how even lord Ram grows as an individual throughout his journey...and the way Hanumanji is portrayed is just too good

I never tire of revisiting Yugosako's Ramayana. The sheer beauty and simplicity of the frames, the faithful adaptation from Valmiki Ramayana, the voice cast - that film merits the term legendary. How otherworldly beautiful and delicate is the lead pair. I don't know if it's the perfect conception of Ram-Sita, a rendition of them exactly how I imagined them in my mind or it's the reverse in that it's irrevocably shaped my perception of what the protagonists would look like. The music is fittingly lovely too. 👌🏼
