I remember when the show 1st aired they were living in a 30,000 sq ft mansion and flying out to California for haircuts. He bragged they spent over 300,000 a year on clothes alone! They made enough money without stealing to live a lifestyle above most people. It was no need for them to do what they did and now they are having to pay!

Where I have the problem is when it comes to reality stars who just sign their names to forms without read them or be their husbands tell them to do so. You are signing a legal document. That is why a majority of documents that you sign have that terms and services/disclosure part at the end of the contract that is in small writing. If you violate any of those your ass is in trouble. Now, if you are one of those people who don’t read terms in services or disclosures, then there is no hope for you.
Especially in the case of the Chrisley‘s they had children under age that were theirs, and that they are guardians of. So no I don’t feel sorry for the mom. She made her bed and now it’s time to lie down in it. Maybe next time she’ll read what she’s signing and ask questions.
The people who are truly affected, are their kids. Their daughter who just turned 20 I want to say I could be wrong has to now be the guardian of her youngest brother, and the guardian of oldest brother daughter that he can’t take care of because of his drug addiction.

None of us know the truth. The bottom line is the sentence given was way too harsh. If guilty, yes they deserve to serve some jail time, but 12 and 7 years respectively is horrible. Even Jen Shah was punished with a very long sentence. Murderers walk the streets!! Trust me, I live in NYC and all the maniacs are strolling around town despite their criminal records. Makes me so angry.

I love your station and TH-cam’s. You are real, but not judgmental. I am 69, long divorced, raised two sons myself as a special ed teacher for 35 years. When people see their wealth grow, they feel a newfound sense of power and think they are untouchable. Nothing wrong with wealth as long as you keep your perspective. The feds can take at least five years to build a case and when an indictment comes down, you can be sure their case is airtight. Todd knows what he did and so does Julie. If they plead guilty, their punishment would not have been as severe, particularly since they had two minor children at home.

Here’s the thing, I think a lot of us feel like you do. They were very likable and fun loving people who got super greedy and broke the law. They are certainly worth forgiving, and we need to do more of that in general, but they do have to pay the price for what they did. By the same token, my heart does go out for Julie because prison has to be one super scary place for a woman like Julie, or anybody else who is not a hard-core criminal. She probably is a lot more fragile too than some people might think and I do feel very sorry for her. I think the best thing they could do is admit their guilt and do the best they can to get out as early as they can. This is the problem with reality television it seems; everybody has a giant ego that grows even more once they get on TV, and then they have to live up to the hype about themselves that they have created. I would not want to be on a reality TV show for all the money in the world!

The thing is, even if they’re guilty, what good does it do to have them in prison? Are we any safer as a society? No. I’d say in situations like this, fine them a ton and out limits like can’t leave the country or state for a certain amount of time. It’s a waste of tax payer dollars.

  • @casarnp

Yes others have gone to prison for fraud, tax evasion etc. Fell sorry for anyone who has to learn lessons the hard way and for families. Also, if you are on reality TV then stay above board because you are on everyone’s radar. Being “found guilty” does not always mean you are guilty. However, who has not gone to prison for tax evasion, fraud and money laundering?? Hint: whistleblowers testify!

@Zack Peter, you say they were found guilty. Yes, they were. But keep in mind there or 1000's of people that have been found guilty of crimes they didn't commit. These people served many years locked behind bars, proclaiming their innocence with the courts not listening. I don't know if this is the case for the Christley's or not.
