I cancel my account back when covi19 started, and they didn't cancel, and they kept charging my card, im fighting with them for 339 dollars, I know its not much, the excuse they give me is " well it was a mistake from our sales people"

I cancel cuz I was competing with 5 different contractors, 2 of them my bosses, and there this guy(not my boss) who would get the job cuz he was the cheaper one of all five. He pays his crews 40sqr.

In most ethical businesses “well it was a mistake from our sales people” would be refunded by organization. But when you run a scam you are never out of excuses why you keep making mistakes that make you money

I wouldn't put your whole opinion about this company from one video. (no I don't work for them) I think the leads would be well-spent advertising money for a start-up if only a few of them gave you big jobs to get your footing in your chosen industry/trade. Otherwise, get someone on the payroll to optimize your SEO and marketing platforms such as Google, social media, and others....as well as a well-designed website speaking directly to your specialty in your field. Angi/HomeAdvisors and others do all that for you as a marketing platform for your advertising dollars at work.

But even craigslist is scamming folks. You pay for ads, and it's called "ghosting"
The site is taking your money, showing you the link, saying that the ad is live, and you can see it..
But the truth is ONLY YOUR IP ADDRESS can see it. In other words, folks in your house.
Have someone look for the ad OUTSIDE your house.. don't have them put in the exact title, let them search and scroll. If they can see you, you're.not being ghosted.

This video has let me know that if I need a service completed not to use either company to locate a provider. If I receive another call in the future I will be sure to say "Do Not Call List" and inform them if they call again I will contact an attorney.

I got really lucky with these scam artists. I
had well over 2k in lead costs... The rep I had been talking to lowered his voice once and told me less than 2 percent of the jobs in my area were for painting. I thanked
him for being honest and asked to cancel. He actually did cancel the account and miraculously the lead money I owed just disappeared. They stopped harrasing me right after that conversation. I'm pretty sure I just got one of the few salespeople that cared and decided to throw me a bone. My buddy a General Contractor paid well into the 10k plus range in leads before getting them to cancel... I really appreciate this channel. Please keep exposing this fraudulent company. I'm just one of few who got out without getting hurt.

When this happens, place a claim with your bank for the charges and let them know that you’ve already attempted to be reimbursed from the company and the company is refusing to refund your money. When the bank asks why you’re placing the claim, tell them you were not provided the services you paid for. They will credit your account and do an investigation. When home advisor doesn’t respond or Denys it the claim will default in your favor. You will have to cancel your card first so no more charges can be placed but once you do you will get your money back and home advisor will lose the money.

I’ve been with home advisor/Angi leads for 10 years. Never really leaned on the service very much because I’ve always been so busy with my own business due to referrals. I’d have the leads paused 90% of the time. My experience is when it was home advisor, the leads generally were good. Leads I got had a good description of scope of work. When it turned over to Angi things changed. 90% of leads are bogus. You can tell right away because there’s no description of scope of work. So when I’d call on the lead mostly no response . This company come to find out is a total scam. If there’s a class action law suit sign me up.

Former Angie’s List employee. Literally everything she said nearly word for word is EXACTLY how Angie’s List is. The only differences is they require a 12 month contract for a range of leads sent monthly. Same complaints from contractors. Leads are reassigned to reps every 24hrs to every 2 weeks. And every two weeks you have to make unreasonable sales quotas to keep your job the next two weeks. Cult culture is absolutely correct. You have to give up your soul and conscience in order to work for them and be “good” at the job. I would be nauseous, have migraines and loose sleep over my job when I realized they are not who they say they are.

I just left Angi Ads (formerly Angie's List). It's the "sister company" to Angi Leads (formerly Home Advisor). I feel like I could be Rachel. I couldn't sleep at night because I always prided myself on being an honest salesperson. But the scripting, the high pressure tactics, the "one call close", the cult-like culture... it's the same at Angi Ads as well. And when I started questioning things, I was targeted to get fired. And when they fired me, they used similar tactics to try to get me to say I resigned (I'm assuming so they didn't have to pay unemployment). I didn't fall for it, but they are STILL trying to get me to say I resigned. I realize now what a scam the company is, and I"m embarrassed to even have been a part of it.

The leads I received last night were 888 numbers or business numbers, no lead address, other than a weird one, and when I call to talk to the customer, you literally can't get ahold of them. 200 calls per day, 3-4 HR talk time. Using ARMS to overcome objections. You can't call back tomorrow, you must push them. Never believe the contractor's objectives. If contractor's say; " Do Not Call," you must remove that contractor from the system. You'll get weekly 1 on 1's... Peak training performances and other "support" system's in order to encourage you to sale, make them more money.

Contractor's must pay an annual membership fee - pay per leads. First 30 day's are like baiting them into continuing the service, in order to retain the contractor's. This will keep them on board and generate revenue. Employee's will get burnt out! You must be energetic! Forget your previous sales experience & learn the Angi's way. 1st wk of training is learning the script & last few days of the week, you learn the system. 2nd week you're on the phones. Contractor's will hear our script & disconnect or attempt to decline services. Employee's MUST continue pushing the calls forward. It is stressful, management treatment is obvious. Many people steal sale leads from newer hires to meet quotas. Director's will attempt to intimidate you if you're not knowledgeable to certain laws or regulations. Advising you to voluntary leave their place of employment if accommodations aren't considered.

I wouldn’t be surprised if Houzz is using these same deceptive practices. We signed up for Houzz pro and we didn’t get ANY leads for 8 months and were paying $400 a month. We tried to cancel but they wouldn’t let us cancel and told us we were stuck in the contract. Once we cancelled our debit card so they couldn’t charge us anymore they used a different company name to charge the card but we had our bank reverse it. During this time they finally sent us a lead so I am pretty sure they boost your leads only when they feel like they need to, then send the rest of the leads to someone else to hook them in. Now they have sent us to collections. For what? We paid for 8 months without receiving any benefits! Please make a video like this about Houzz!

You see I think I found the best way to use home adviser/ angis set your monthly budget as low as you can and then when the opportunities come in just pick and choose the ones that you want because the customer has to accept you as well if it’s an opportunity just makes it easier for the leads to be better

I really wish I would have stayed in college for computer programming and learned how to program. After seeing what they have done to me and hearing her validate what I thought was going on I would create my own home advisor and do the exact opposite of what they are doing.
Home advisor worked for me in the beginning and I started doing work for a home investor and didn't use them for a year. Work finished with the investor and now kind of need to rely on home advisor because I lost my customer base because of working with this investor. Now the leads are 10 times worse and possibly going to shut the doors because work is so slow. Regretting ever thinking that home advisor could be my fall back if the investor deal didn't work out.

What she is talking about is Call Center Culture, the upbeat vibe, the selling method, the stats, I mean Call Center Metrics lol ........It just happens that Home Advisor adopted that business model. I've worked at many call centers and this is how they measure their reps perfomance to grow their company. I've seen reps not cancel a customers account because they are on an "Action Plan'; which means they have to hit their stats for the month or they will be fired. So they 'forget' to cancel someones account so they can work another month. That's only half the issue, so it seems; the other half is there are no real leads?? I thought about signing up with Home Advisor but I've heard too many horror stories about them. This video just confirmed it. Thank you Rachel for telling your story. I myself have left a very large company because I didn't like what was going on. So I put in my notice and left, and ended up back in construction, but now as Commercial Roofing contractor. Life can take some interesting turns. Thank you for posting this video. Much respect to you and your team Dmitry!

I know of far worse such as companies like PayPal, Venmo, and some of these delivery companies like FedEx where packages are "misplaced" after being labeled as "delivered". I worked for Angi Leads and did not have a pleasant experience. Everything she states is absolutely correct. However, just some food for thought, I see what you are getting at with exposing this company, BUT generally speaking in the world of business, you never trash a competitor no matter how bad they may be. Angi, no matter how bad their business model, does not allow employees to trash other companies. That is also very standard for any other business I have worked in. As a now business owner, I still hold true to that for many reasons. I would spend more time marketing your business, than trashing another, and you would likely see better results. But that is just my input. Thanks for the video and content! I know us former employees enjoy!

Now they are doing it for all kinds of jobs. They will charge up front then send out a "pro" with no tools, no materials and no idea what they are doing. Then the apt will cancel or the customer will find out they don't know what they r doing and scamadvisor will do whatever they can not to refund the money to the customer. Unfortunately, the bank will NOT consider this as fraud. Fraud is something where you have absolutely no idea where this charge came from. This will be considered a dispute between you and the merchant. The bank may give you a “provisional” credit but it is not your money back. The credit will be debited back once the bank settles that it’s not fraud. You can go up and down the street with your bank to explain why it’s fraud but at the end of the day, you voluntarily gave them your credit card info. This is why I said it’s not fraud. It’s a merchant dispute! Hope this info helps!
