Glad to say I wasn't one of those booing that day, its even nore disgraceful looking back. Guy should have a statue at CP
He always states he doesn’t deserve one and there are more Celtic players/managers more justified
I agree, looking back that was bad, definitely deserves a statue, he laid the foundations for what came after, an I don't care if he made a fortune when he sold up
How this man hasn’t got a statue or even a stand named after him is baffling. Mr Celtic right there
Meanwhile the buns let's their club die
The way some treated him was a disgrace.
Fergus McCann is the man who saved us, the man who you can trace back to our continued current foundation and success we enjoy today, the wee man wi the bunnet will FOREVER be a legend of CELTIC.
And then all that money Rangers were spending was cheating then they DIED 😂
We all know now how Rangers were spending big at the time and look how that came and bit them in the arse eventually. Wee Fergus had a plan and that plan worked. Thanks again, you were right all along. Shame on those fans who doubted you, I hope they are humble now
His legacy is living on through the generations. As long as the kids of today know who Fergus is, what he done for Celtic (and for them) them I am sure Fergus would prefer that to a statue.
Compare and contrast him with the media darling "Sir" David Murray.
I know who I prefer.
Hail Fergus!!
He did save Celtic and rebuild that stadium imo he has my respect hands down learnt of it while I was over in Glasgow for a Celtic game twice in 2022 and last year
To this day I'm still baffled why anyone would boo this wee guy, he saved our club from going bust and that is just as important as brother walfrid, maybe more so if you can even comprehend life without my dearest celtic, maybe you have to be a certain kind of supporter of celtic to be negative towards him but for me he will always be celtic,s savour and that should always be remembered. Hail hail
Well that mob on other side of Glasgow were in their ' for every 5er Celtic spent we will spend a 10er " Mr Murray was cheating to sign who they signed,Celtic would have seen that and obviously wanted us to do likewise, that's why Fergus got some stick unjustly, why risk Celtics future on a gamble
As Celtic fans we must push to have this man remembered with a statue outside Celtic Park.
Even at the time I was embarrassed and ashamed of the fans who booed McCann and wanted him out. He saved the club. Just look at what happened to Rangers when they spent insane amounts of money they didn't have.
Unforgivable to boo that man, shame on those that did.
His tortoise and hare approach of not spending turned out to be absolutely right.
The wee man's a legend ❤❤
Where’s the BBC documentary about the man who saved Rangers 🤭
Should have a Stand named after him at least.
That wee guy is owed the biggest of apologies.thanks Fergus 🍀
Celtic legend
Is there a part 3?
and nowadays not one of my fellow hoops fans admits to booing Fergus that day,
This guy done more for celtic than any player or manager has ever done and thats including the great lisbon lions , rebuilt the club, and said and informed the board , fans and media what he was doing and done it should be a statue there for the man small in size big in stature , thank u the bunnet
I wrote to Celtic FC, and requested that a Stand be named after him. I received a letter from Celtic (which I have); informing me that that would not happen-as there were others deserving of that honour, too.
When I attended Old Firm games-years ago-I was in the West Terracing of Hampden; and the East End of Parkhead!
I'd love to hear their reasons of who is more deserving, and why
U r spot on there players come and go so do managers the wee guy done more than any player or manager I know and I am 71@@kee-logreen
I was unhappy about our football at the time, but lets not forget Celtic Park was a dump, it was old football. McCann had a plan and if that meant cutbacks so be it, he knew Celtic had to become a modern club, and needed a stadium that reflected that. I think 1998 was the birth of everything we enjoy now, many of the squad were made into heroes by Martin O'Neill. I remember a quote from another club that I witnessed in USA. A rich man wanted to start a team, the hired Director told him, you'll lose money for 5-10yrs. If you think its hard being a supporter sometimes, think about that.
McCann . . The man who made celtic a " newco"
Cringe...
The greatest ever celt ‘the bunnet’🍀
Yer man’s accent is honking
I’ve tried to find this on the iplayer and can’t find it does anyone know what’s it’s called properly
Its on you tube . celtic fc
I never doubted him
💚🍀
It didn’t say the biggest thing of all - avoiding the financial chicanery of David Murray later secured Celtic the 9-in-a-row of the 2010s. That’s good long-term values-led stewardship. Where is he now?
Is the Main Stand of Celtic Park a 'Listed Building'?
If not, it should be replaced with a two or three tier Stand.
Dead since 1994 tbf you ant done bad since

as i said short memories from a team like no other
I was disappointed that Celtic copied Rangers by refusing to allow a sizable number of Rangers fans into the Old Firm games.
'Two wrongs do not make a right!'
I remember in 1966 when the stadia were split 50/50
What an atmosphere!
That's when it was the old firm rangurs died 2012
Just tired to watch this on BBC iplayer but it's not on there?
Its on you tube Hh
The reason theres no statue can only be the board. We as Hoops fans know He saved us. We need to Stand up and ask why no STATUE. especially while the wee mans alive HH
Why have celtic fc instructed the club's lawyers to negotiate with the scores of victims abused and sodomised at celtic bc?
Point scoring is the usual hun cry
@@danbreen6946 No need to point score. It is all over the media celtic have told the CLUB'S LAWYERS to negotiare settlements with the victims. Paying millions to guys that had nothing to do with the club REALLY??

The old Celtc Football & Athletic Company died in 1994. They once proudly had that name on their shirt, but no more. They don't even own their own pitch anymore either, which is held by a former Board Director. Celtc FC - 1888- 1994. RIP
Wrong. Read up on changing the name of a company and the death of a company as happened across the city in 2012.
Fergus knewwwwwwwwwwwwwwww
You hate the Champions so much yet you spend your time and energy on Celtic content, Hunnery logic 101! 😂😂😂😂
So did Murray and King and all the rest of them when Gordon Neely was doing the same at the crumbledome. But as King said that was the OLD RANGERS nothing to do with the new club. So GIRFUY. Your club covered it up and should be held accountable like every other club that was involved in these heinous crimes.
Souness ,wee Jock ,Walter and Ally all knew aswell.
Billy Mcneil liked a feel 😂
