GRADING EXPLANATION:
Here are my three categories for rating albums: 'Good lyrics' with 4 points because it's imo one of the most important thing in an album (good lyrics don't have to be poetic or deep, a light and sweet love song can be extremely well written and will have all the points for me), 'Diversity' with 3 points imo a good album has different things to suggest, not always different genres but definitely a bit of diversity in lyrics and vibes. Then 'Coherence' with also 3 points because if it's great to have a diverse album if no songs make sense together then it's a bit disappointing, it doesn't need to have a story or having all the songs follow each other (for the loooore) but i like a good coherence!

This album is so Nayeon-coded, it's so comfy, refreshing and sweet just like her personality, vibe and even her appearance. I think that's why it's called IM NAYEON (not sure if you know but IM is actually her surname). Both Jihyo and Nayeon made their first album full of their sound reflecting themself, which is so lovely. Still I hope that in the future they will make comebacks with something more different and experimental.
I believe the jacket in the POP music video wasn't stuck. It was intentionally left there when she threw it to put an apostrophe between I and M, a wordplay on her name as IM NAYEON and the actual title of the album becoming I'M NAYEON. It's similar to how she put her finger in between I and M at the end of the MV and how her finger also point between I and M on the album cover art. Just very clever wordplay on her debut album. it was. i’m glad this wordplay could be done with her surname, as other surnames in korea like “이” are romanized as”lee” (with an L) but pronounced like “eee”, so it would confuse both koreans and foreigners. they were so smart for this tbh 😂

the jacket being thrown between the I and M is intentional because the album name is a play on words for her real name "Im Nayeon" and "I'M Nayeon". in the next scene right before the mv ended, she puts her finger in between the I and M again. her jacket and her finger is meant to look like an apostrophe ( ' ). She's basically introducing herself through her name and at the same time telling us that "I am Nayeon, this is me!"

Pop is really Nayeon's genre indeed
Nayeon really had one of the most sucessful debut for a kpop soloist. POP was so viral and stayed in top 5 of every k-charts for weeks. The song also spent more than 2 months charting on the spotify daily global chart, which is TWICE 2rd longest song to stay in the chart. IM NAYEON debuted #7 on the Billboard 200, which is still the highest peak for a female k-pop soloist until now. The album also spent 20 weeks on the Billboard Top Album Sales, the longest for a K-pop soloist.

25:32 fun fact, in one of the behinds of production of this album nayeon share that this song was not in her album, was another one but in the " last minutes " of choosing they come up with happy birthday to you and nayeon 100% choose this one, her world's were " this is the style of the album and i love this song so much, As soon as I heard it I said it and thought this song HAS to be on the album " something like that

Surprisingly Sunset was may favorite except for Pop, but if you get a chance you should check out Twice’s killing voice it’s worth it

I'm glad you hate rap adlibs as much as I do!!! "Whoop!" "Oh yeah!" Etc. I also agree felix had no reason to be on that song! It was forced. Despite that, it ends up being one of my fave songs on the album. You have to listen a few times for it to get settled in your brain.

- Regarding Nayeon and sexy concepts: yes, easily actually 😭 They've had many covers that are more on the sexy side and even with their own songs she has plenty of performances where she really has her moments (to say the least). Now for instance if you really can't see her as anything but cute/adorable even those moments might come across as cute/adorable - but yes it's *well* in her wheelhouse imo
- The lyrics to Candyfloss are kinda crazy. And yeah the laugh at the end is the "fake one" followed by her laughing because of it
