Dud it just dawned on me that the "Great Mushroom War" is probably just the way they refer to nuclear freaking war.
Yeah it is, idk where in the show you are. But you’ll see that the name mushroom war as in the “mushroom cloud” that rises above a detonated nuclear bomb.
@@cherie..cherry I am in around the beginning of season 8. Idk if you can spot a mushroom cloud in the background in the simon and marcie backstories but other than that, I haven't quite seen a war yet.

Fun Facts about this episode:
All of the main characters appear in this episode except Ice King.
While looking for the video recorder, Finn pulls out a holographic projector which projects a spherical PHIL FACE.
This is the first episode in the series to mention the Mushroom War by name.
When Finn was pouring drinks he poured several different drinks with the same pitcher.
The pitcher has an inscription of Futhorc (Anglo-Saxon) runes on it. According to the Runic code it says, "Cup of Many Ale[s]."
When Heat Signature 3 begins playing, "Document 413" is displayed briefly followed by "Classified." Despite Finn and Jake reading the standard FBI warning on copyright, what is written is not an FBI warning but rather what appears to be a warning on disclosing classified information. Also, it misspells "strictly" as "stricktly".
PB banished Finn from the Candy Kingdom in "Go With Me" for being a "psycho". Strangely, she is okay with going to Finn's house to watch a movie.
Episode connections:
During the second movie club meeting, Princess Bubblegum is seen wearing the first outfit she wore in "The Real You," and Marceline is seen wearing her outfit from "It Came from the Nightosphere."
The name of the film at the beginning of the episode was Heat Signature 3, the third film in a series. The original Heat Signature is a plot device in the episode of the same name.
The soundtrack from the part where Jake is luring the frog using a bait with a fly is also been used in the opening titlecard of "Gut Grinder."
Shelby's punchline and his apparent priestly profession reappears in a fifth season episode.
Cultural references:
The phrase "Check Please" is a punchline used in many TV shows and movies, usually after something off-beat happens.
The way Finn made the tomato juice for Marceline is similar to the style of a Bloody Mary cocktail, because there was a celery stalk in the drink.
Finn was using an optical illusion, known as forced perspective, when he was shooting the chariot scene with Princess Bubblegum.
The document number for Heat Signature 3 could be a reference to the webcomic Homestuck, where the number 413 appears multiple times.

Errors:
At the beginning of the episode the clock that says "Finn and Jake Timeless" marks a different time in the next frame and the figures it has at the tip of its hands disappear along with the numbers.
When the FBI Warning screen is appeared, the word "strictly" has been misspelled as "stricktly."
At the beginning of the episode the strawberry backpack leaning on the chair disappears and then appears again.
At the beginning of the episode, Finn serves liquid from the same source but as the order is served he says that it is Apple Juice, Iced Latte and Hot Chocolate.
Yo great work but yk there is a teapot called the assassins teapot where you can change what liquid comes from the same teapot by different placements with your thumb. The pitcher is called the "Cup of many ale's" so I doubt that it was an accident. They probably wanted drinks that fit the characters but don't want to spend episode time chosing different drinks from the fridge or different pitchers.

1:23 adventure time lore is so deep and intricate even something as simple as the thimble *click click* from a past episode makes an appearance.
The Shelby experience episode is one of my favorites in the whole series. For some reason, the side character episodes are insanely good.
this is not really a kids show in hindsight. it is a "coming of age" show that starts with the simple naive perspective of childhood then evolves into going through the complex and harsh realities of adulthood.

Yeah, it is one of the best I've seen with this type of world building, the mushroom wars were so long ago that its just ancient history to them. Which think about the real world talking about events from 1023 wouldn't be all that emotionally for the average person. Much better than all those post apocalyptic movies and shows where a character sits there and dumps exposition monologue about "how great" things were before the *apocalyptic event* and how things have changed since then...and then casually mention it happened centuries ago, millennia, and in some even as far back as 5000 or 10,000 years ago...unless you are an immortal (and even then) that is awfully far back to even care about it. It would be like us today just sitting around and casually talking about how great things were back before some long forgotten civilization fell...and mean it as a fact not mythology or some romanticized version of the past that is totally inaccurate.
Its funny how the episode only mentions the mushroom war once as a passing comment, then the rest is just a typical episode that is otherwise without lore, and nux still nade the title about that singular comment.
Adventure time is just so good🥲

Honestly, I gotta admit, while I knew of the Great Mushroom War, I didn’t know it was Name Dropped as early as Season 2 nor that Finn and Jake knew about it,
did they read about it in a book or something? If so, i wonder who was alive to write about the War,
But if not, i wonder how else Finn and Jake knew about the War? Actually, wait, is the War just common knowledge in Ooo?

and both contain massive lore points.
-the land of ooo is thousands of years after a nuclear apocalypse
-ice king is a normal well educated human from before the war who slowly lost himself to the madness and power of the crown

Well, as he said, it was a post-apocalyptic world, but this was the first time it was actively mentioned as a real thing that happened, and not just how the world is because of the setting they wanted.

This episode does help illustrate something that becomes more obvious as time goes on. Jake is physically more mature than Finn, Jake has romantic interests, while Finn is mentally and physically still a kid he hasn't gotten to the point yet where he is becoming romantically interested in anyone. Which you know they were babies at the same time, but Jake is a dog...dogs age faster than humans. In fact in this world most the animals despite now being sapient age like regular animals, human lifespan beings are rare, and of course there are the immortals who shape much of this land in the absence of humans.

What's funny is that he doesn't even understand a quarter of the overall lore. All he knows is the event and its implications on the world. He knows nothing of the Marcy lore, ice King lore, human lore, true lich lore, finns true backstory, jakes backstory, bubblegum lore, heck, he doesnt even know what marcys dad really is
