I've just finished watching it and it was great. It met my expectations. Stephen Lang presented one of the best performances I've seen lately. I really hope there's a third sequel in the works.
They said if everything goes well there should be one by 2023

Whew, I’m sooooo glad that I am only now seeing this _after_ watching the film. This is exactly why I don’t watch most trailers and never any “clips” of a film I actually intend to view.
Anyhow, I came here to see if anyone can help me remember when exactly we learned the actual name of “The Blind Man”. I’ve only seen it in articles (even before the release of this sequel), but still don’t recall having learned it from either of the films, themselves. Also, if anyone can LMK why each film states a different military background for him? Appreciation in advance to anyone who can truly answer these.

Is this a prequel? I don't want to spoil the original for anyone, but it's hard to make Stephan Lang a likable protagonist in this one because of what he does in the third act of the original, so even with a possible "new" daughter the only way I see this sequel working is if the little girl is his original daughter and that this movie is The Blind Man's origin story of why he became the way he was apart from... the obvious.

It's a sequel and I can confirm they don't really try to make you root for lang, but rather the safety of the girl (that's how I felt watching it)

This was a great movie! I don't want to spoil anything for anyone, but I always enjoy it when the bad guys get their comeuppance (and I'm not talking about a lame bullet in the chest, when they did a lot more horrible things themselves). I recommend it! :-)
