Navigating Water Scarcity - BBC StoryWorks & Swarovski Foundation

Water shortage challenges in Nigeria are having negative impacts on basic human sustenance and climate change is aggravating the problem.
However, innovative solutions are not hard to find in Nigeria. Alongside BBC StoryWorks we co-produced a film for the Swarovski Foundation, as part of a new series ‘The Climate and Us’ presented by the Global Climate and Health Alliance. The film follows the journey of Joshua Ichor, a graduate of the Creatives for Our Future program and his commitment to safeguarding water sources and improving community health in Nigeria. Joshua has developed a piece of technology called the GeoTek monitor. Attached to a hand pump borehole, the GeoTek monitor gathers data on the effectiveness of its operation and ways to enhance functionality. Simultaneously, it monitors water quality and identifies harmful contaminants.
