- We are now in the midst of the AI revolution. Every few weeks, we hear about another new development in AI. The media is in a frenzy; AI experts are leaving their companies to warn us that the end is neigh. Others tell us that AI will reinvent the world. What should evaluators make of all of this? This webinar will focus on how evaluators can start using AI, the implications of AI for evaluation theory and practice, the possible broader impact of AI on society, and the opportunities that Paul terms prosocial AI provides for addressing some of the key social issues - e.g., climate change, inequality, social exclusion - that are often focused on in the programs that evaluators work on.
Dr. Paul Duignan is a highly experienced evaluator who also has a background in technology social impact assessment. He has set up and run university, and other evaluation courses, undertaken numerous evaluations, chaired and served on evaluation advisory committees, and developed new theory and tools for strategy, evaluation, and outcomes work. He has been a Senior Fulbright Scholar at the Urban Institute in Washington D.C., and undertaken evaluation and outcomes work with small community organisations through to the IMF. He has just finished writing a book on AI with the working title: Friending AI: Thirty Fresh Ideas Needed to Share the World with Artificial Intelligence. He comments on AI regularly in the media, talks at conferences, and runs workshops on AI organisational and social strategy. His website is at DrPaul.Online, Linkedin / paulwduignan .
