“Trust in the Lord with all your heart,
    And lean not on your own understanding;
In all your ways acknowledge Him,
And He shall direct your paths.”

Truth rings true. It settles in the heart where it belongs. It isn't hollow, no at all. It brings into the open the cry of the Spirit to acknowledge His work within us. Let God be true even if every man is a liar.

@@hr2r805Then you make God a liar. He says ALL men know God, even the unregenerate, and it is by their choice to believe a lie and not the truth that they perish, not because He wills them to.
      (My CAPS below)
      Romans 1:18-21,23-25
God's anger is revealed from heaven against all the sin and evil of the people *_WHOSE evil ways prevent the truth from being known._*
[19] God punishes them, *_because what can be known about God is plain to them, FOR GOD HIMSELF MADE IT PLAIN._*
[20] *_Ever since God created the world, his invisible qualities, both his eternal power and his divine nature, HAVE BEEN CLEARLY SEEN;_* they are perceived in the things that God has made. So *_those PEOPLE HAVE NO EXCUSE at all!_*
[21] *_THEY KNOW GOD, but they do not give him the honor that belongs to him,_* nor do THEY thank him. Instead, THEIR thoughts have become complete nonsense, and THEIR empty minds are filled with darkness.
[23] instead of worshiping the immortal God, *_THEY worship images made to look like mortals_* or birds or animals or reptiles.
[24] *_And SO GOD HAS GIVEN THOSE PEOPLE OVER to do the filthy things THEIR hearts desire,_* and THEY do shameful things with each other.
[25] *_THEY exchange the truth about God for a lie; THEY worship and serve what God has created instead of the Creator himself,_* who is to be praised forever! Amen.

”Jesus answered, “Truly, truly, I say to you, unless one is born of water and the Spirit he cannot enter into the kingdom of God. That which has been born of the flesh is flesh, and that which has been born of the Spirit is spirit. Do not marvel that I said to you, ‘You must be born again.’ The wind blows where it wishes and you hear its sound, but do not know where it comes from and where it is going; so is everyone who has been born of the Spirit.”“
      ‭‭John‬ ‭3‬:‭5‬-‭8‬ ‭
”Therefore I make known to you that no one speaking by the Spirit of God says, “Jesus is accursed,” and no one can say, “Jesus is Lord,” except by the Holy Spirit.“
      ‭‭1 Corinthians‬ ‭12‬:‭3‬ ‭
”I will put My Spirit within you and cause you to walk in My statutes, and you will be careful to do My judgments.“
      ‭‭Ezekiel‬ ‭36‬:‭27‬ ‭
Why only that verse? Why not within its context? Regeneration precedes faith. One cannot believe in God without being born of the spirit. The spirit blows where the spirit wishes.

Yes because Gos has FOREKNOWLEDGE of those who will believe and accept his gift of salvation . There would be no point in “choosing” someone who wouldn’t believe.

@@Gorsefirethis is not true but an Arminian and unbiblical way to describe or to understand it, the foreknowledge is true in that God knows all things but that’s not why we are chosen or the elect if you read the Romans 9:11 states
11though they were not yet born and had done nothing either good or bad-in order that God’s purpose of election might continue, not because of works but because of him who calls, this shows us the plan of election not based upon God seeing that we would pick him in the future but we follow and believe God totally because he did elect us predestined us. You think it’s somehow unfair that God who is just and holy and righteous would send some to hell and some to heaven. I say it’s very fair and just because none of us deserve it and you better fear God and be glad that you believe on Him because that means He elected you and chose you so don’t fight against what His words says and believe it and deny yourself and accept Gods word as its true and we aren’t the possessors of our own destiny as false teachers teach today it’s all because of God and his work and Him drawing us to Himself before the foundations of the world God already elected and predestined those who would believe

Righteousness is the opposite of sin, because "all unrighteousness is sin." But "sin is the transgression of the law." Therefore righteousness is the keeping of the law. So when we are exhorted to yield our members as instruments of righteousness unto God, it is the same as telling us to yield ourselves to obedience to the law.

"So, as the rational creatures were wasting and such works in course of ruin, what was God in His goodness to do? Suffer corruption to prevail against them and death to hold them fast? And where were the profit of their having been made, to begin with? For better were they not made, than once made, left to neglect and ruin. 8. For neglect reveals weakness, and not goodness on God's part - if, that is, He allows His own work to be ruined when once He had made it - more so than if He had never made man at all. 9. For if He had not made them, none could impute weakness; but once He had made them, and created them out of nothing, it were most monstrous for the work to be ruined, and that before the eyes of the Maker. 10. It was, then, out of the question to leave men to the current of corruption; because this would be unseemly, and unworthy of God's goodness." - Saint Athanasius On the Incarnation ☦️

Throughout the Bible everyone was chosen. Abraham, Mary, Paul, David, Job. No one chooses God. We are born dead in sin. We must be born again. Salvation is a miracle not a human decision. Be not deceived. Religion is decision. True salvation is Grace.

I am sorry. I see this as one of many doctrines and opinions that have appeared over the centuries. Doctrines can be debated. Even Calvin did not want his name associated with his own doctrine. To attach a mans name to a "doctrine" may be considered a form of heresy, especially if it is being "cherry picked" out of context from Holy Scripture as the word of God.

NOBODY who was connected with the Apostles taught calvinism. No early church fathers were calvinists. Some calvinistic ideas can be found in Saint Augustine but far more concepts which are diametrically opposed to calvinism are found in the works of the Fathers. Learn church history. The Church does NOT begin with the reformation.

I don't think anyone is suggesting that the church began with the reformation.

who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, - 1 Timothy 2:6
Do not wonder that the whole world was redeemed, for it was no mere man but the Onlybegotten Son of God who died for it. The sin of one man, Adam, availed to bring death to the world; if by one man’s offense death reigned for the world, why should not life reign all the more “from the justice of the one?” If Adam and Eve were cast out of paradise because of the tree from which they ate, should not believers more easily enter into paradise because of the Tree of Jesus? If the first man, fashioned out of the earth, brought universal death, shall not he who fashioned him, being the Life, bring everlasting life? If Phinees by his zeal in slaying the evildoer appeased the wrath of God, shall not Jesus, who slew no other, but “gave himself a ransom for all,” take away God’s wrath against man? Catechetical Lectures
    - Saint Cyril of Jerusalem

who gave Himself a ransom for all, to be testified in due time, - 1 Timothy 2:6
Was Christ then a ransom for the Heathen? Undoubtedly Christ died even for Heathen; and you cannot bear to pray for them. Why then, you ask, did they not believe? Because they would not: but His part was done. His suffering was a Testimony, he says; for He came, it is meant, to bear witness to the truth of the Father, and was slain. Thus not only the Father bore witness to Him, but He to the Father. For I came, He says, in my Father's name. John 5:43 And again, No man has seen God at any time. John 1:18 And again, That they might know You, the only true God. John 17:3 And, God is a Spirit, John 4:24 And He bore witness even to the death. But this, in due time, means, In the fittest time.
    - Saint John Chrysostom
