Protogen fursuits are a very unique species in the fandom. I have yet to see a protogen in real life, but would still love to see one someday. There should be more protogens in the fandom, personally I think they're hecking cool! And as always, great video! Much love!

Electronic heads btw can be pretty cheap if you make your own. My head costed about 300-400 dollars and a big part of that was shipping costs for materials :P

@@StormiFolf I’d say do it! It’s fairly easy to do it yourself. All the parts like helmet models, electronics, code and tutorials are out there if you need it!

I need a protogen mask and the protogen fursuit
In all honesty, you don't actually need the vacuum faceplate for your heads. Shaping aluminum or some other metal is most likely cheaper, especially if you're seeing from a gopro on your neck connected to a vr headset/phone. (I'm planning on doing this soon, with the lights actually being under a bunch of holes in my helmet, allowing me to see without a camera.)

@*-+Frog+-* don’t, it's a hobby, not an identity (just tell them it's a hobby)
Ive done 2 Protogen to this day, and im on the making of the third one.
Something to understand is that the worst is the visor, vaccum forming is extremly hard, i do it with a barbecue but still there is a lot of fail even with experience.
An usefull advise, make your Protogen in ABS or at least PETG filament, because PLA deform at only 60°C (hot car can go to 70 pretty easly)
Murder Drones, episode 1 made a reference to Protogens. There is a line near the end where one of the murder drones says to the main character "...for a barely sentient toaster." I so did not even make the connection until just now.
Actually, the Primagens BUILT the Protogens. Primagens needed workers and thus designed Protogens. The Protogens rebelled against their creators. FYI, it is pronounced "Prime Uh Jen", not "Prim Uh Jen". In other words, they came FIRST, as in Primary species.
3d printing the the visor IS possible. It just requires transparent filament. You don't actually need to vacu-form the visor.
You would need a Raspberry Pi in order to run a full-head LED display like that.
The reason Protogens are rare is due to the closed nature of the species.

that actually made sense what
late response, but a couple things:
1. you can't 3D print the visor with transparent filament, because it doesn't make an optically clear end result. it would be translucent and you wouldn't actually be able to see through it and have any meaningful use of your vision.
2. you don't need a Pi, in fact that's a terrible choice for running anything that requires a fast response time or that needs to be portable, since the GPIO pins are slow, it has to run all of Linux (which means you have to properly start it up/shut it down), everything lives on an SD card (slow and unreliable), and it sucks down battery like no tomorrow. a Cortex M4-based microcontroller or a Teensy 4 would be a much, much better choice.

But all my money is going into a homebrew pinball machine so my Proot will have to wait.
When or if I ever did make my protogen I would have Flippers for my symbols as I love pinball and I would have pinball sounds coming from myself. :)

I'm currently in the process of making a visorless protogen-like fursuit that is like nothing out there. Now that I know there are only 50 or so protogen suits, that means my suit will truly be one of a kind!
In my personal opinion furrys are Badass and getting a protogen or primagen suit would look fucking awsome so the cost would probably be worth it

I really like protogens, They are amazing!
Vacuum formers expensive? Sure, if you buy a commercial model. But they are among the cheapest and easiest modeling tools to make. All you need is a frame, a box with a bunch of air holes, and a shop vac. There are lots of TH-cam videos that tell you how to build one.
