4000 hours plus in the original but i think I’ll wait 6 months till the performance is fixed. I also want to see how the mods work out. I’m concerned the mods will blocked by a subscription service.
I remember back to Simcity 2000 and begging my dad to upgrade our computer so we could play it. I remember Simcity 4 and how I learned how to upgrade my computer myself so it could run properly. City builder games always pushed computers to the max and developers build the game in mind that the hardware will catch up. Always been that way. Good on Paradox for at least being honest about the performance of the game. EA wouldn't put out a statement like this and just lie.
Last December I upgraded from a 4690K/GTX 1070/16GB rig to a new 7700X/RTX 3080/32GGB rig, both self-built. I play all my games at 4K with little issues, but I have noticed how badly many modern games are optimized. I can play better-looking games at 4K 60 fps like RDR2, while I get framerate drops on games like Halo Infinite or Hogwarts Legacy. The minimum requirements of CS2 don't seem that bad to me, considering the game's scope. This is a fully 3D, realistically looking, city-building game with every person and their life modeled in-game. COVID kind of put the last 2-3 years into a blackhole, but a 970 is a 9-year-old GPU at this point. I'm not going to lie that it sucks to already see my $800 GPU already on the recommended specs of a new game. When I bought my 1070, it was so powerful at the time that it took at least a half decade before it started showing on system requirements.
The 1070 really was a great card! I just upgraded to a 3080 this year and was definitely taken back the first time I saw it under recommended as well lol. Colossal Order is definitely trying to balance making the game work for the current year in addition to future tech upgrades. Will be interesting to see just how well the recommended specs perform imo
I wanted to give the game a try but with these very high recommended specs I am hesitant if not turned off entirely. The game itself looks ok, but not on a level that I would expect a RTX 3080 to be needed. There are games out there that look miles better but have much lower requirements. And then there is the underlying issue I have with Paradox games in general. The main game is only 5% of the whole experience, if you want a somewhat full game you need to buy DLCs, lots of DLCs. Essential things that make the game "the game" are locked behind DLCs that need to be bought, I am starting to dislike this sentiment because that allows them to underdeliver and say "wait some years and you'll have all that content via DLCs!". Take Anno 1800 for example, it has lots of DLCs too, the main game however has the fundamental systems present and allows you to push them to certain limits - this is the point where DLCs expand UPON these systems, to make them even more complex after mastering the base game. In Paradox games however it often feels like "Well here should be a mechanic or a button but that's not here because you are missing the DLC". And in a way, the bad performance is just that - just disguised. The performance should be great for a fully released game that costs 50+ bucks. It shouldn't be an "afterthought" that gets implemented later down the line with updates. Sure you can always improve it but ramping up the recommended specs to the 2nd best graphics card on the market right now while the game honestly looks like a graphically modded version of CS1 is a bit... underwhelming to say the least. I'll wait for reviews of the released game and see if it's worth investing money but again, the recommended specs alone make me very hesitant to even consider looking at the reviews and trying the game at all.
@@ponas9767 So what do you offer in return? Force a studio to release when they openly state they need more time and have another Cyberpunk situation?
