Excellent video. I like that you have a lot of shorter series rather than 20+ volume ones. You might be right about Solanin and having to be in the right age range to appreciate it. I'm outside of that range and didn't think much of it at all. Keep up the good vids.

Man i really wish I had an awesome collection like this xD. I have 36 manga's (Including the Death Note All In 1, GYO all In 1 and UZUMAKI all in 1). But yeh first vid of yours I've seen and I'm loving it :P. Keep up the videos and can't wait to see your future videos.

fuckin' love your collection, my dude! You have a nice, diverse selection of series, which is a refreshing change from manga collections that are huge but all seem to have the same stuff. Also Junji Ito is definitely a hit or miss for people. I'm honestly a little too squicked by his stuff to enjoy it. BUT I still highly recommend Junji Ito's Cat Diary because it's drawn in Ito's usual, creepy horror style but it's a slice of life about him and his pet cats. The combination is actually really hilarious, and it's especially potent if you have owned a cat before!

Junji Ito's Cat Diary sounds super unique and interesting, but from what I've read about it (admittedly very little), it doesn't sound like my kinda things. Yeah, I always see collections with a lot of volumes, but so many of those volumes are of the same series; really long running ones.

(This is a little late) I love Junji Ito's works, I recommend reading Gyo and Uzumaki to get into the madness of his work.

I noticed that you don't have Monster (I might have missed it), and was thinking that you should check it out if you hadn't already done so online. Yeah, _Monster_ is a series I have on my to-buy list, though that list is way too long. I know a ton of people love it, it's just a matter of fitting into my buying schedule. Right now I'm trying not to start longer series, and instead finish up the ones I already own, so it might be some time before I pick it up. Thanks! :)

I love Voice Over Seiyu Academy, it's one of my favorites.
Yeah, Oshimi tends to have little dialogue. I can't imagine trying to read this chapter by chapter, especially since it's a monthly series.
Like most people are saying about Junji Ito, the three hardcover omnibi that cover his most famous works (Uzumaki, Gyo, and Tomie) are the best place to start reading him. However, there's a series not published in English fully (works like Shiver and Fragments of Horror contain some of the stories, though) called The Horror World of Junji Ito or Kyoufu Collection that has a wider range of stories.

I'm a big Ito fan, so I hope you find stories that you can enjoy, too.
I've read some other horror works and they just don't seem to be for me. I might try another work (most likely Uzumaki) in the future but it's not a high priority for me. Thanks for the suggestions. :)

I have a question. I mainly only collect manga because if it’s my favourite anime, I want to show my appreciation and show off what I enjoy(I read it after the anime usually). I’m not really interested in light novels, but some of my fav anime (baccano, rezero, etc) are based off light novels. They do have manga adaptions though but that also means they aren’t exactly the way the author intended them to be. Would you recommend getting the manga because that’s what I’m used to or the light novel because that’s the original?
I would go with whichever one you enjoy reading more. Maybe try them both out and then choose between the two. At the end of the day, you're the one who's reading it so pick the one you enjoy more. The anime is an adaptation of the source material anyway, so just go with the format you prefer.

I find softcovers easier to read so I like them for that, but hardcovers are by far more durable and nicer. It's sucks that we can't have both.

I promise you that Shiver in nothing like the rest of Ito's works. That was probably the worst thing for you to read to get an impression of him. Uzumaki, Tomie, and The Dissolving Classroom are all amazing reads and worth atleast picking up the first volume. Tomie and Uzumaki come in very nice quality 3-in-1's for around $40.
I almost always hear that Uzumaki's his best work, so if I decide to give him another shot, it'll probably be that one.

I don’t know if anyone told you, but Junji Ito is also the creator of quite a few horror manga. His most famous are Gyo and Uzumaki. I didn’t see any horror manga in your collection, so I’m not completely sure they would be of interest to you.
Yeah, I recently read Portus, and it seems horror manga just isn't my thing. I know Uzumaki is said to be his best work. If I ever decide to give him a go again, it'll probably be that one. I've been told that if I didn't like Shiver, I probably won't like his other works, also.

I've heard of _My Brother's Husband_ and I've seen it hauled a few times now. As for the volume number, I made a guess based on my items purchased number on Rightstuf, and made guesses about how much stuff I ordered from other sites. As for time, I wanna say... maybe ~ 2 years? Not sure, I'm not super great when it comes to calculating long periods of time.

I'd say 16 is perfectly fine. I read it when I was 14, and I appreciate it just as much then as I do now (19). I may still be too young, as you claim, but I believe it really depends on the individual. I think you're basing your judgments on whether a 16-year-old could appreciate the story or not on your own experiences. Not everyone develops under the same circumstances. For instance, Someone who's dealt with depression and/or displacement at a young age may take the story for what it truly is, even at a young age like 12. Whereas a twenty-two-year-old delusional male may think that the story is about how harvested crop shouldn't be delivered in large quantities. My point is, age isn't really an issue here. Not nearly as much as you're making it out to be
