Nice job testing it. Doing the due diligence of finding where the signal was coming from so that you knew the reception would be delivered from 6oclock was a nice touch. I think I’ll grab one for my 2022 trail boss. I’ll use your link. Hope you still have affiliation so it helps you out. Thanks for the video. 👊🏼
Thank you for your review. I just ordered one from your link for my 2019 Silverado RST. I've been wanting to get one for a while. My antenna hits my garage as well. Plus I just like the look of this better.
How is the reception for you ? Just bought a 2021 trail boss already took the antenna off I don’t want it messing up my garage door, I just haven’t put one back on yet.
@@kevinz0681 Funny you should ask me that. I just traded my RST for a 2021 High Country. I swapped my antenna out with this one. And it still works just fine.
@@Brian23Y lol ok I just bought a 2021 trail boss LT last week I ordered the antenna you have yesterday was hoping it works, I took the new one off so I don’t have one on right now.
The longer antenna is tuned for longer radio waves. that means AM radio. You will not see any degradation for FM especially if you're tuned to HD Radio station since HD Radio is all digital. Either you get a reception or you don't, there's no gradual drop in like analog radio would. In fact, you might even get a better reception on that frequency you were showing with the shorter antenna. It's a clear winner.
Have used multiple stubbies on different trucks. One brand had a permanent bend from wind resistance after awhile. Didn’t affect signal but looked bad. Another brand performed well, but I was always hitting it when I cleared snow. I’m getting ready to try a Ronin bullet on the new truck. Being delivered today as a matter of fact. Mixed reviews so we’ll see. I live near a big city so most stations come in regardless plus I use Apple play more often than not. Overall I like stubbies. More aesthetically pleasing.
Thanks for the video! Been wanting to buy one too since it hits the garage frame all the time going in and out as well has low hanging branches. Will have to purchase soon.
As long as the unwound length of the conductor is the same as that wire you can see wrapped around your original antenna whip, your new antenna is the same electrical size as the original. But the truck body will block some of the signal, depending on direction. AM will probably be most affected.
The wire wrapped around the stock antenna has nothing to do with reception. It just illiminates wind noise. The mast length of the stock antenna is pulling the signal.
Bought a similar antenna for my 2019 Duramax. . And wouldnt you know it, my original antenna was literally rusted together so tightly, that as i attempted to loosen it, it somehow just spins in place (with significant effort) and didnt back out!! So, after some investigating- I grabbed my bolt cutters, and clip the antenna off just as the base becomes a hexagon... Fortunately i could see down in it and actually see the tip of the base down inside, which is where I squirted some PB blaster on it and waited 24 hours... luckily I managed to get it out afterwards, thank you jesus! Great videos bro!!
Just bought an RST coming from a 2010 Sierra Denali. Running into the same garage door scraping now and this will be my first “mod”. I may get one of the bullet styles, but a short antenna nonetheless.

I sold the 2019 RST to a 2020 LT Trail Boss and it fit. I followed the link I have and it says it fits there too. Not sure how you are seeing that message
It performed the same, because the sharkfin antenna on the roof is used for radio, data, serius xm, etc. At least according to the owners manual. No clue what the antenna that you replaced is for...
@@DR0CK fair enough but it’s still a vehicle with both the shark fin and a separate antenna. It’s a fairly safe assumption that both serve the same/similar functions.

Good review, thanks for taking the time to do it. I had same issue with my 2020 trail boss. Ordered through your link. Take care.
Lukazzz HC16 Thank you! Much appreciated! 😁
Have you tested AM signals? I have heard those factory antennas are best for AM reception.
I just ordered one for my 2020 Silverado through your link.
Thanks for your investigation!
The antenna arrived yesterday and I installed it. My "red hot" Silverado is even better looking and reception excellent in NYC suburbs.
Good information.
My antenna hits on a 10’ door exactly like yours
Top sill plate...cracks me up.
That's a header bro
Thats cool man I bought one from ebay about a 7in long stubby antenna for about 15 bucks and it works good no problems so far and it looks better!
What about an older truck 09
Sweet baby jesus, you know your stuff sir. 10/10 would watch again.
PandaV666 Thanks! But I suppose that’s just how the Panda...do.🤣
I got mine just now, had it installed, I hope it won't affect the signal, although I'm thinking of keeping the original inside the truck just in case.
WOW! Your truck looks clean. I love the colors.
Now you should be very careful driving in parcking structures because this little antenna won't tell you that you are going to scratch the roof 😳
exactly what i use mine for
All you need to do is figure out how high your truck is and every parking structure has the measurement painted on the structures lmao

Nope. It’s still flexible. Although I never use touch car washes.

How does it affect Sirius radio?
Zero. Satellite does not use it. It’s only an AM FM antenna. The shark fin on top is for satellite stuff I think.
Everytime I go to someone's house with low hanging branches I get the wagging dog's tail effect....smh
Dielectric grease?
