Have you considered using aluminium profiles for construction of terrariums and cellular polycarbonate sheets as filler? They are quite durable, water resistant (not as much as solid polypropylen for e.g. due to aluminium but still better than wood) and very light, I could lift and move terrarium 180x75x42 with heat panel istalled without any issue. In my opinion still quite aesthetic, a little industrial style.
Price wise... here, where I live materials are more expensive than for wooden encolusre but not that much and way cheaper than welded solid polypropylen/ solid pvc enclousres I could buy from manufacturers.
Cellular polyethylen might be even better than polycarbonate but the ones I tried/ saw are 10mm thick and it is hard to fit them into aluminium profiles as they have only around 8,3mm space where sheets cannbe put in.
