I think this game is meant to resemble FTL in the sense of random generated super hard game with a short "run" with endless replayability. If you don't know FTL it has a huge cult following for how difficult and addictive it is. Also pixel art. I think this game you reviewed is also meant to be really really hard. Back in the day I played these 2 flash games called Warfare 1917 & 1944. This looks like it took inspiration from those so i'm very interested in trying out this game.
Yeah, I remember those too. There was an attempt at a Warfare: Online game that was modern a couple years ago, but it was shut down, unfortunately. This looks like a worthy replacement though!
Oh man, you just opened up a big can of NOSTALGIA on my ass. I played those games so much! I loved the multi lane tug of wars. There was a fantasy one i played that had like 7 lanes and the unit cooldowns were very low so you had to spam multiple units on some lanes while also dealing with small intrusions on others and there would be this great battle line that would form naturally in the middle and you had to keep pumping in small, medium and archers in there just to keep the evil bastards at bay. It had 4 playable races humans, orcs, elves and undead. It had some shitty 8 bit gfx, but it was a ton of fun and tactical as hell. I recently found a game like that on mobile called Heroic Magic Duel. It's a 3 lane tug of war with all kinds of fantasy units. Each unit has its own special ability or is a good tank or ranger and you get some very interesting tactical battles. It hs a campaign and pvp scene. Very deep tug of war game, i had a blast.
It is commonly said but actually many generals did die in ww1 so they were not sitting several miles behind the front line. In fact, the common British soldier was more likely to survive in the first world war then his Generals.
Reminds me of an old flashgame called Warfare 1917. I really enjoyed that game and this looks like a lot of fun too. Thanks for showing this one off for us MacK! :)
Looks like fun. Hopefully they tweak the balancing a little bit before or shortly after release. I'll keep an eye on this one, hope it is £6.99. Hope you are doing well, Mack.
Love a good tower defense style game, been keeping an eye on this, going to check this out, thanks for the video! Hope they add endless mode after it gets out of Early Access
I played the bate demo of this game like few months back and I tell you. It is a really fun game. Let hope when it fully out they balance it. Edit : wow the game change so much and look much better.
Are there any good C&C style games for ps5? I've seen Iron Harvest, not sure about it though...would like a game that's entirely about building bases and units and then going to war!
I can't remember the name of the 2D DOS games that was just like this back in the olden days... I think you had direct mouse control over the helicopter if you could afford one. If anyone remember what it was called I'd be grateful.
Love how mobile games are being ported to PC nowadays. Love that this game does not seem to include that upgrade your cards bullshit that all mobile games of this genre have.
@@igorthelight As a game dev I must say pricing for a game is so hard. Cause it's so time consuming. It's one of the hardest indie professions. You need to do the sounds, music, voices, models, sprites, UI, animations, cutscenes, trailers, artwork, marketing, programming, and deal with all the legal stuff. Then when you price it out it's like okay you've spent hundreds of hours if not 1000 or more. But, you can't put your hours multiplied by a livable wage as the price cause you'll hopefully sell more than one. So it's a very weird balance, that's hard to find especially since you feel like you're really under valuing it. Unless you have a bunch of preorders lined up. Then when it's all said and done you need to put in a lot more work after to fix bugs and provide updates etc. I know people like to bring up how games you to just be buy once get everything but, nobody mentions how games weren't updated back then and bugs weren't fix. The devs were just done with it. Nowadays it's expected that you keep working on it
@@jackcarren8781 I tried to make games and it's really hard. But I'm not sure that players would buy a mobile-looking game for 15$ for example. I would say 5 to 10$ is a sweet spot.
@@igorthelight I agree , you have to deal with current market prices and or the community expectations. I was just saying it's a hard thing to like accept as a developer especially without a following.

You know a developer has balls of steel and faith in their game when they give Mack a key!!!
That's what i think every time!
"What??! Are you crazy??! You want this guy to review your game??! Hold tight!"
No game should be released without being good enough to send a Mack a key.
Only lazy devs without imagination and a passion for microtransactions are afraid of Mack
Lmfao helllll yeah
Hope to get into the Chivalry 2 beta this weekend and bring you a preview on Sunday/Monday. For AGATHA!!!

Yeah mate I played those games as well. I fucking loved them. :D
Those games were amazing. I'd be in a stalemate for a hour and finally breakthrough. It was great

Seems like those old flash games that are really similar, warfare 1914 and warfare 1944, great games and this looks fun too.
Yeah speaking of those games, are they still up?

You know is a good game when he said " f the review" he's truly having fun! Glad to see you happy man.
Thanks for highlighting smaller games like this as it looks like the sorta game I'd enjoy but would never have heard of otherwise. Cheers Mack!
I think the highest praise mac can give a game is “fuck the review” while he just starts playing normally.
I really wish the industry giants would get into ideas like this.
They're against ideas and are only interested in sales.
'is it worth a buy?' is my new phrase when eyeing up females on my bin collection route.
Haha that's brilliant, gonna start using it on my postal rounds! :D
love the live segment of this video, that was a cool touch mack. Great stuff as always.
Mack's genuine excitement at @6:30 is all I need to see to buy this
I remember a WW1 themed flash game that played the same way. I loved playing that back in the day
It probably was Warfare: 1917, great flash game

The drinks cabinet/WW1 reference reminded me so much of Black Adder Goes Forth too!
Would love to see more quick displays of gameplay like this! It's highly informative and entertaining. Superb work as always
the game is out on ea now and is on sale for $9 but is going to be priced at $12! defo worth a buy
You know the game is fun when Mack says fuck the review mid game to concentrate and try and win. Cool stuff.
Small interesting games like this is why I follow this channel
Never heard of it until now but it looks like my cup of tea! Cheers
The same developer made Shadow tactics: blade of the shogun and I loved that so I’ll probably give this a go.
This reminds me a lot of a game called "Guns Up".
Getting a 'Cannon Fodder' vibe off this.
You should have a 'Worth a Wishlist' or 'Worth a Watch' category Mac

I bought this game years ago and skipped the tutorial and beat the game in my first attempt. I had no idea how the systems worked. 1 hour played atm.
Which mission lets you move said drinks cabinet six inches closer to Berlin?
Kinell Mack, the review, the review.
Nothing says this is a great game better than the reviewer saying "F' the review i recon I can take these guys" made my night Mac.
I'm still waiting for a review where it goes "is it worth a buuuuy?....no" and end credits roll lol.
And then black screen or outro for 5 minutes so we don't know when we click the video 😂😂😂
Its free on Epic atm.
Great stuff man, love your content. Really got me when you said F the review lol

When a reviewer says, ''F the review!" in the middle of the review, to just play the damn game, that says a lot.
Looks pretty interesting Mack. What would you price this at, if you developed it?
ohh that menu looks really like the flash game Infector. Same people behind it?
looks and plays like one of those old world war flash games you could play on newgrounds or kongregate.
I love the concept of this game. More like it!
Only oldies will sniff out the Blackadder 4 reference :)
"Fuck the review" hahaha. Your the best Mack. Keep it up brother

How much would you pay for it? In freedom dollars. Not Monarch Monies

its sad that those of us who has a RTX 2080 in 2021 and we're using it to play 8-bit games, just tells you how low the pc gaming industry has fallen
