There is not a better guide on the James River than Capt Moore, Ive been out with many other guides and no one can compare or even come close! Dude is legit! Great video!
Spencer another great video and some really nice fish. You are a blessed man to get to go fishing as much as you do.Please stay safe and God bless you and yours!!
That was a treat! I've heard stories about the fishing on the James my whole life. Glad to finally see it with my own eyes. Thanks Spence! Nice job Capn' Moore! ♥
I had forgotten all about Jimmy Weir, I know Doug Stange liked fishing catfish, all varieties too and with his Ol buddy Otis Toad Smith, when he was alive. There was a few Ol boys from back in the day that made catfishing cool before it was, really. There was Jim Moyer, Phil King, that was just a couple, I believe both of those guys had been on In-fisherman, a few times, each. Anyhow, good deal bud, always!
James Patterson and John Jameson are a couple more I loved reading about. Lots of great anglers that were nice enough to share there knowledge with others. It's been awesome to meet the few that I have. I'd love to take Doug Stange fishing.
You were pretty much in my back yard. Wish we could have met. Moved out here from Burlington Ia. about 30 years ago. I now live near Richmond Va. Really enjoy your videos.
spencer looks like you had a cold day with some fish it was a bad day for me i never put a rod in the water four hours trying to get bait best of luck on your next trip jimmy
I had 4 trips with Reel Country Guide Service in 2024. He is great guy to go out with. It's even more fun if you are a Harry Potter fan. All 4 trips we put at least a 50 pounder in the boat. Also the heated cabin is great
Spencer ….. nice catches !! I see you have a small female base ❤!! Ava, Tina , Emily oh my! Maybe I should narrate my police experiences lol. Anyways, always a joy watching ! Dan 👮🏻♂️
That school of small catfish was crazy! Pretty cold winter funny day, Spencer! I’m curious, I’m used to fish hunger slows down when the water flow slows down, does it happen with some fish up there too?
Its a crazy place man. Their appetite definitely slows, ya just gotta change tactics and usually slow down to match it. Thanks for always watching man!
I don't think I've ever wanted to fish with someone quite as bad as i do ol Spencer, someone just as corny and awkward as i am . I think it'd be a blast.
@ me and my grandparents did a stripper guide on lake Cumberland back in 2003 or 04. My grandpa was pissed cause it was guaranteed fish in allowed time and he wasn’t able to reel one in. It would stress me out to much to be a guide.
@RiverCertified my stretch doesn't have huge cats . The biggest being caught in years was a 41-pound flathead. This stretch is dominated by smallmouth, carp, and musky.
That's the best compliment I could get. Thanks man. My favorite is the "Original Fish Grip". I don't even own any right now, but I might have to put in an order now that were talking about it.
What's the benefit of having 8,9, or 10 ft rods over the seemingly standard 7'6"? Also wondering if I need a rod that has a lure weight ratings over 10oz?
Bahahaha Spencer how much are you paying these Bots to like and comment? Did you do the gold package, ah heck I bet you went with the platinum package 😂😂 . They say it takes money to make money, this is the perfect example

His reputation is definitely well deserved. Super kind guy that knows how to catch em! Glad you enjoyed it!
Excellent content seeing different places and the different style of fishing for cats ,thanks for the trip Spencer
I'm glad you enjoyed it man. That works out because i love seeing new places. I appreciate you watching!
Awesome video Spencer that river is crazy keep it up can't wait for the next one keep those lines tight my friend
Appreciate that man! I'm glad you liked it.
Thats really cool that you made it out here man! glad you had a fun time.
Without a doubt man. I appreciate it.
Spencer another great video and some really nice fish. You are a blessed man to get to go fishing as much as you do.Please stay safe and God bless you and yours!!
@@patriciapowell3824 i have to pinch myself sometimes and definitely don't take it for granted. I appreciate all the support you give!
That was a good time and a change of pace, Spencer 👍
I'm really glad you enjoyed it man
That was a treat! I've heard stories about the fishing on the James my whole life. Glad to finally see it with my own eyes. Thanks Spence! Nice job Capn' Moore! ♥
It was a big box for me to check. I hope I get the chance to go back and share it again. Im glad you enjoyed it!
That last one was nice! Thanks for taking us along! God bless y'all
I really appreciate it man, thanks for watching!
Heard good things about that river. Thanks as always for taking us along brother!! 👍🏾👊🏾✊🏾🙂💯
That river is definitely a special place, I'm glad you liked it! Hopefully i can get back!
It is interesting how different days have different rods the fish appear to prefer. Run that experiment many times.
It is funny, they even seem to prefer one side of the boat over the other lots of times.
Those cats are eatin' good in that neighborhood! Really healthy looking fish.
If the situation was a little different, I would have been all about frying up a few.
Big cats 🐈⬛ Lots of fun 🤩
Definitely my favorite. Thanks for watching man!
Excellent upload as always Spencer! Thank’s for posting this!!! 🍻
My pleasure! Glad you enjoyed it!
Man I love that river
It would be a tough one to beat. Thanks for watching man.
Totally enjoyed watching Spencer, great video. 👍👍💯💯
Thanks a lot man, really appreciate it!
Great that you were able to fulfill one of your to does, another A+ Spencer 👍👍
I'm pretty fortunate man. I appreciate ya watching!

@ - yeah I forgot about those two also! Yeah I’d love to go fishing with Doug Stange, I always wanted to go with him and Toad, back in the early 90’s
Great video along with the company you were fishing with!!
I'm glad you enjoyed it! We had a blast
You finally made it to the James! Buggs Island is next!
I ended up casting some lines in there too. I'm debating if I'm gonna make it a video or not.
You were pretty much in my back yard. Wish we could have met. Moved out here from Burlington Ia. about 30 years ago. I now live near Richmond Va. Really enjoy your videos.
You definitely moved to a great fishery. If ya ever see me, say hi. Glad you enjoy the videos too.
Awesome trip. Thanks
Glad you enjoyed it
Fished the James last year for a week averaged 22 fish a day the best fishing I've ever done. And the shad are ridiculous. Awesome video
That's some serious fishing. Glad you beat em up man!
@RiverCertified will probably never do that again lol
Hey Spencer real nice catch wish I was there just hang with you thanks for the giant
It was a great time man. I really appreciate the thought.
Well that's a fancy boat
Definitely felt like I was fishing on a battleship haha. Thanks for watching.
Those old silver saltist were the best surf fishing reel I ever used
They're built like tanks man
You came to my neck of the woods!
Yessir. It's awesome over there.
Cool guide service im not too far ftom there might just check it out sometime
Highly recommend man. Christian is a good dude.
spencer looks like you had a cold day with some fish it was a bad day for me i never put a rod in the water four hours trying to get bait best of luck on your next trip jimmy
That was my day last Tues. Shoot me an email spencer@rivercertified.com and I'll let ya know next time I'm out your way.
You should have called me and you wouldn't have had go on that charter alone. LOL
Haha i had a buddy lined up, but it didn't work out
Hey Spencer would love to see how you set up the boat when fishing. Does the drift sock help with the sway? Seems like it would always be in the way.
I need to include more of that stuff. The drift sock reduces sway. It is also often in the way when fighting a fish haha
We have a James River in the Midwest too don’t you know. Here in the Dakotas.
I do. Heard there's some magnum big uglies in it too.
I had 4 trips with Reel Country Guide Service in 2024. He is great guy to go out with. It's even more fun if you are a Harry Potter fan. All 4 trips we put at least a 50 pounder in the boat. Also the heated cabin is great
Good to know he's a Harry potter fan. I'll start calling him "The Catfish Hagrid" 😆
Attaboy 👊
Thanks Denny!
Spencer …..
nice catches !! I see you have a small female base ❤!! Ava, Tina , Emily oh my! Maybe I should narrate my police experiences lol.
Anyways, always a joy watching !
Dan 👮🏻♂️
U mean female bots
@ probably …..
The ladies love me haha. Thanks Dan! Glad ya got a kick outta that one!
Where did the wrap around boat cover come from?
I believe he bought it with the boat
Something about the sound of mono going on the reel is like nails on a chalkboard. I’ll stick with my braid 😂
😅
I have caught that 80 pound blue . But it won't out the james. It was from kerr lake
That's one helluva fish man
@RiverCertified thanks man. I posted a video of it
What kind of boat was the captains? That thing looked like a cadillac of catfish boats 😅
Hookers boat works. I'd never heard of them but they make one hell of a rig.
I'm team Kayak now!! So I'm boycotting big boat videos!! But still love the channel and left a 👍🏽 😂😂
You're not the only one. I'll get back on the yak when it starts to warm up a bit.
Hey you your in my neck of the woods we got giants here
You definitely do man
I don't think I've ever wanted to fish with someone quite as bad as i do ol Spencer, someone just as corny and awkward as i am . I think it'd be a blast.
Oh I'm sure we'd have a good time man. I am a guide for hire. Let me know if you wanna get on the books.
You can tell you’re not used to being pampered while fishing.
I bet it was weird having someone doing for you what you are used to doing for others!
Dude it was super weird. First time in my life I've been on a real guided trip.
@ me and my grandparents did a stripper guide on lake Cumberland back in 2003 or 04. My grandpa was pissed cause it was guaranteed fish in allowed time and he wasn’t able to reel one in. It would stress me out to much to be a guide.
Lets gooooo
Yesssssiiiirrrrrr
Matep spot narek ikan apa kawan 🙏🙏
Thank you!
@RiverCertified oke matep kawan 👍👍
Wait !! You're fishing the james River . Man, the james is my backyard, Lynchburg Virginia, lol. I thought you were fishing the Mississippi
Youre pretty spoiled out there man. It's an awesome river.
@RiverCertified my stretch doesn't have huge cats . The biggest being caught in years was a 41-pound flathead. This stretch is dominated by smallmouth, carp, and musky.
🎣🎣🎣🎣🎣👍👍👍👍👍Awesome video man.
Appreciate it man!
What kind of rod and reels do you use if you don't mind me asking?
Those were Christians. I think he mainly used XH hellcat rods and penn Fathom 20s with 50 lb line.
I'm not a catfish guy, but love and watch all your videos. What fish gripper do you recommend? Thanks.
That's the best compliment I could get. Thanks man. My favorite is the "Original Fish Grip". I don't even own any right now, but I might have to put in an order now that were talking about it.
👍👍👍
What was the bait
We were using shad
What's the benefit of having 8,9, or 10 ft rods over the seemingly standard 7'6"? Also wondering if I need a rod that has a lure weight ratings over 10oz?
Casting distance is the main advantage. So is line control. Power rating varies from rod to rod.
Hey Spencer, speaking of Rods, what action are your new Hellcats? .
I've been using the mediums. I think they're the way to go if you're using braid especially.
👍👏🏻💪👏🏻👍
44
Bet you're close. Never hung that one on the scale.
@RiverCertified I like to guess. Especially when you don't prove me wrong with a scale. Lol
Why dont you tell folks where you are when you fish Spencer
Dude he literally told us who the guide is and it says james river on the boat when he shows the guide
@sfmidnight5409 thanks for pointing that out.
🙏🙏🙏
Bahahaha Spencer how much are you paying these Bots to like and comment? Did you do the gold package, ah heck I bet you went with the platinum package 😂😂 . They say it takes money to make money, this is the perfect example
I've been having the ladies chase me around my whole life 😆
