Kikuji Kawada on the Atomic Bomb Dome and postwar Japan

Photographer Kikuji Kawada discusses Chizu (The Map) (1960-65), his series on the Atomic Bomb Dome in Hiroshima, the Japanese military, and the post-World War II economic boom in Japan. He describes how he was able to capture sublime and sometimes terrifying aspects of these subjects through abstracted detail.
