Back in the 60's I worked for a farm and hauled liquid manure in a tank truck. This farm was among the first to use liquid manure. Unfortunately the farm was a co op and things didn't work out for anyone. Brought back a lot of stinky memories.
lol....been waiting all week for this crap shoot ! Takes a lot of ....something....to drive that thing around into 10ft of crap and float around in there hoping you don't sink. I have no idea why poo is so interesting....but it IS ! 😆 All the best to you and your family Jan ! you guys run an awesome operation
Jan How much does the crawler hold in diesel fuel and how much fuel does it burn a hour more with the sand in the lagoon than a regular lagoon? I love watching NUHN Manure products working cuz they are at the top of the list. A guy I drove truck for also had a manure business of cleaning pits and lagoons and his NUHN hardly ever broke down vs other tanks and this was 22 years ago and he was one of few that had a NUHN in Nw Iowa, now you see either NUHN or tanks like yours cuz guys that clean pits usually buy 4-7 at a time and get a good buy on them and buy 2-3 tractors at a time we usually see JD or CATS on tracks and the JD usually have duals upfront. Keep track and let us know how many total loads you get out of your pit when it is totally full. It's always a great feeling when you get your pits and lagoons empty before it gets cold out and before it snows.
We had a hog farmer with a Pit system. Each spring, he would take his skid steer, jump it into the pit and dig his way out. Unfortunately, the air cooled engine was half submerged when in the pit. It would come in frequently for repair, and each time it would take hours of cleaning to find the engine.
132,343.5lbs if you're from the states... I am excited to get back in the money maker again this fall.. looking like 9/30 I'll be hitting the fields in a 380 magnum with a Jamesway 96 or 9800 gallon tank here in Iowa... hauling hog manure... best way we've found to pop the hose collars is get a 10 ft piece of like heavy clothes line or paracord would work too and tie a quick loop on one end and pull it then twist the load stand
I was in Germany one Spring after the farmers had spread manure on their fields. The air stank so bad which is why I was told they are only allowed to spread once a year. Does your air stink after spreading the manure? Can you spread more than once a year? I was amazed to see they make a lagoon agitator machine.
I have heard of shit flying before but DAMN, that was impressive! What's the viscosity of saturated cow shit? If you can figure that out, you can work out liters from weight.
Jan you make your videos so smooth. I started making videos about a month ago and they seem so choppy. I've seen all of your videos and even your first few videos are super smooth. Is there anything I can do to help make my video's smoother or do you think that it is just time and experience to get there? Thanks for another great video and keep up the good work.
Seems like it would be worth it to separate the sand before it hits the lagoon. Effectively a much bigger lagoon. Not simple or cheap i'm sure but probably cheaper than more lagoon. and maybe eliminate the need for the boat.
I don’t know. City girl here. Is that a smelly job? Smellier than solid shit? Are those concrete slabs on either side of that lagoon agitator? That’s crazy!!
Hello I like your video you did a nice job thank you. How long did it take to fill your Lagoon with manure? How big is your operation? I mean how many cows do you milk in on a daily basis and do you have a crew that does that? Thank you for sharing Bob from Virginia USA
That's a year of buildup. They typically milk around 300 cows twice per day. (Exact number varies, depending on how many dry cows they have at the time) Total number of cattle can vary from around 700 to 900. counting all the calves, heifers, dry cows and beef steers.
@@MellowYe77ow thanks, I did farmwork in the 1970s and I realized that I'm to lazy to do farming for a living. Ok, not that lazy but I've always have had back issues.
Should try to use high pressure air from tubes undet the liquid manure.. Just draw a line into the pit, and apply high pressure and see if it would stir it enough... All you need are a tank and a industrial compressor...
hey bro my first day here.. Poo pit eh? never heard of it? anyway, lol. the prop. you could cut off 2 blades? or heat it and change the pitch of the blades. Ive done this before, torch and some banging , not too hard, after the banging prop might come off?
If iv ever watched a video on TH-cam I could smell straight through my phone it's this one. I would haul solid 120 hrs a week before I haul one more load of liquid. No number of consecutive showers can wash that smell off👌
Is there anyway to reuse the sand in the pit ? I know you spread it on your fields but is there anyway to Syphin off the liquid then scoop out the sand let it sit a c9ouple seasons and reuse it for the cows.?
The smell with the manure being worked up must be bad enough to take your breath away how bad is it ? The orange sunset against the black manure is pretty.
Nothing like a sunset sail around the Poo Lagoon.
😂
😅😅😅
😂❤
New name - the Poo-goon. :)
😂
Hey everyone! Jeff here, dairy farmer from Pennsylvania... just got done milking!!! Awesome video, as always!! Peace!!
How many cows ? How many do you milk? And hello from Indiana, not a farmer, just a huge fan of farmers of all stripe.
I love that last scene where you were driving into the sunset. Beautiful!
Thanks Jan for sharing the great new video. The machinery in the process for emptying the well is interesting.👍🤟

Thanks. Enjoy watching what it all takes to get that job done
Don"t forget to post the "NO SWIMMING " signs on the lagoon fence. Ha,ha.
Been a while since I've gotten to check in on the channel. Hope all is well with the fam, the farm, and the new house!
Jan you even make working with poop interesting and entertaining. Thanks.

Great video Jan. Look forward to seeing the pit empty.
Beautiful sunset while painting the fields.
Wow big long day until sunset 🌇 for you !!!🚜🚜🚜👍
All I could think of as the agitator went through the lagoon was the Loch Ness monster.😄
Jan! Always a pleasure! Canadian superstar with real life dairy farming!! Good stuff bro
👍👌❤🇨🇦, another Sask boy, me too, the Loch Ness of Sewage Lagoons,
Thanks for showing off the tractors, they’re good to see. I also like the weights. Ta.
Stirring up the shit 😂 That made me laugh out loud !
Hi Jan enjoyed the show have a great day love 😍 from TEXAS
8:42 Nice !
Pretty damn cool! Brilliant video 💪🏻 🏴
Thank you & God bless.
Thanks for sharing and yes I'm still watching all the time. I just don't say something all the time. Have a nice safe day!!!
The sunset is beautiful
The scales was a Good addition to the operation. Nice to know what the amount going to field
When you get the lagoon pumped will there be enough storage to get you thru the winter?

This time Jan will you clean the solids that are left in the lagoon when you are done hauling liquid.?
I watch your videos sometimes while I eat. It's amazing to watch.
The shades kill me lol theyre huge
Has your family thought of using the bubble system in your manure tank? Tom Pemberston in the UK has one works great.
Question? Is there an operator in the crawler? I find this whole operation interesting. I can see why you need a Mechanic.
The crawler is wireless remote controlled.

Thanks Jan. That is a big shit disturber lol
Thanks for explaining everything so well! New subscriber here and I can tell you put a lot of effort into making the videos. Thanks, I appreciate it!
Imagine being the poor mechanic that needs to fix those crawlers when they break down in a lagoon! LOL

Great video, Jan. Thank you
Have you had any problems with sand build up? Breaking pumps or anything?
I've been watching your channel for years now, am always excited for new videoes and just wanted to say how much I enjoy your channel!
It’s cool to see u use a scale from the town where I live thank you
Love actually seeing someone “stirring up the shit”. I should bring some to the office in a bottle!
Call it The Creature from the Black Lagoon.
With that weight to pull, it's great to have such flat land.
Great video Jan really appreciate all of them. Is the lagoon ever empty?
Do you notice any change in the soil from adding all that sand?
Have you thought about stocking the lagoon with some perch and some walleye
About time your video shows in my feed
Who didn’t jump when the slurry shot out when Jan took the hose off? Lol😅
On our way to Canada sorry we can’t see you and the family keep the videos going by you and your sister

What is the annual turnover of ur plant?
@Henry and @ Miena This is new land that they’ve just bought. They’ve started working the field this September.
Creature from the dark lagoon!:)
Thank You for sharing
Never seen a mixer like that. Very interesting my Brother has a harvestore Slurry silo
The lagoon fills up quick.

I think it might just come down to better equipment mate. More stabilisation in the filming gear keeps it steady.
Did the cow live after going into the pit? Boggles the mind it would jump over the fence to get to the pool to go swimming I guess??
It's a good thing we can't smell it on TH-cam like you can, Jan.
The tractor companies manure spreader is the only piece of equipment they won't stand behind.🤣
Thanks for sharing your vids with us!
I work at Farm King in morden Manitoba and we build bale carriers as well
WOW, that's quite the machine. Who knew.
LOVE ALL YOUR VIDEOS SASKDUTCHKID
That sunset will make it worth it.
THATS SOME HEAVY SHIT!!
Amazing video Jan! Thanks!
Frehun from Ethiopia!❤I love cattles
THAT CRAWLER LOOKS LIKE THE BAT MOBILE!!!

HI and love your family and works from Mesa AZ.
Great video as usual! Why do you weigh the manure? The farm is always getting better, it is difficult to do because it always looks so beautiful! 🇨🇦😁
He's just playing with their new scale.

IS that an AG Hire spreader?
😂 in the pit stirring the 💩 up.

nice, now i know how heavy i can be when hauling manure
That's a huge lagoon
Is there anyway to reuse the sand in the pit ?

Yes, in another video, he said that they didn't spend the extra money on the separation system.
🤟🏻🇨🇦🤙🏻
Would it be possible to harvest the methane off the poo pool? You'd probably get a better price for it than for the milk!
Yes, they could build a biogas plant. I don't know that they'd be interested in that though.
Are those hose clamps from metal 360
That sandy soil would be even more helped if the manure had a plant base instead of just more sand.
The smell with the manure being worked up must be bad enough to take your breath away how bad is it ?
The orange sunset against the black manure is pretty.
MUCH RATHER SMELL COW MANURE THAN PIG MANURE!! I'VE CLEANED OUT BOTH PENS. GIVE ME COW MANURE!!
Really cool bro!
What happened to the steer did it live cuz I know you can't float in that stuff?
24,290kg = 53,550lbs
60,000kg = 132,277lbs
for us all south of the border.
What is more heavy? A ton of earth or a ton of feathers?
They're equally as heavy, but the feathers have more mass.
Is the floating agitator remote control?
Yes, it's both radio and GPS controlled.
@@MellowYe77ow thank you, wouldn't fancy driving it 🤢
Respect!
Your face has matured some, and it makes you much more believable and engaging. Just as handsome as ever.
I just love your videos
