it's been at 5 years since your post have you learned any Khmer yet?? I'm american born as well and i learned Khmer easily through speaking to my parents everyday. Having pride as khmer- american means having the best of both worlds. you can't say "as an american we are taught that cultures must adapt to the american way." NEVER heard of such a thing lol. You see white people speaking and reading Khmer don't you feel a bit embarrassed? Look up MUK band on youtube and see for yourself!
Well, good luck getting ppl to understand Kmer culture without a translation. Chances are ppl all over world are learning English, Spanish or Mandarin chinese. Seems Khmer culture is also in thailand. Perhaps not the same, perhaps similar?
If that is your way of thinking, you deserve not to understand what is meant to be understood by Khmer only. So sorry that you forget yourself so soon!!! And by the way there is no translation because of the way people like you are thinking, along the way same theory.
