Yeah it's great not having essential pieces of kit gatekept by grinding.if they wanted to add levels for cosmetics I'd agree that might help bring over hll people
I wouldn't mind if PS( SQ44) has some sort of customazation system with realistic, authentic little things. A sigarette in your mouth, a little bottle of booze on your belt, rolled up sleeves, different faces. Just minor realistic things to work for with a level or rank system( just like Rising Storm 2 Vietnam). But nothing more than that. That way you can also have a little bit of variety in looks of soldiers as long as it's done historically accurate
@@chost-059I'm currently transitioning to squad 44 and I tell you thats the part of HLL that kept me from playing Squad 44. Every match becomes a hard earned XP just to unlock a uniform, helmet or loadout. Now part of me actually glad Squad 44 doesn't have that. Not having to worry about kills I get just to get the experience points. Just focusing on working on with a squad and having a fun immersive experience. I can leave a match without worrying about losing points. Like a weight off my shoulders. Still though a part of me do miss seeing the fruit of my efforts at the end of my match.
The big boost in my opinion is gonna come when servwr capacity increases to 100 and they add a new theater, BUT one that is not explored in many WWII games nowadays, the pacific theater! This would bring a lot of players
Squad 44 could help by introducing some kind of environmental damage model. The fact that you shoot a cannon at a wooden fence and nothing happens to it greatly reduces the immersion.
But its has that already....operation Overlord, operation market garden, Crete with greeks, the eastern front, the invasion of France...People ask for this with HLL but for some reason fail to recognise it with Squad 44 it just flies under the radar
If the actual developers make Shifting Sands: North Afrika, and The Eastern Front mod as official content, and also having the Pacific coming next year I can see this game taking off.
Funny because when HLL released that shit trailer and everyone swore to support squad 44 instead, it revived it for like 3 days and it's now dead again (well atleast in oceanic area)
SQ44's main issue is the lack of player retention, also optimisation and general lower quality feel of the game are doing nothing good. also HLL is far more accessible than SQ44 which is why SQ44 will remain dead, people that want ww2 "milsim" will buy HLL, if they want hardcore milsim they go SQUAD or ARMA
@@chost-059 Another point is that I don't the hardcore milsim style that Squad/Arma does fits WW2 very much. In Squad, you can spend the whole game just sitting around on a hill doing nothing but guarding an objective and still feels immersed, cuz that's kinda what you expect from modern warfare. However with WW2, people expect gritty and grindy combat, where bodies after bodies get mauled down to take a position, so a simpler spawn system like HLL does fits it much better.
I hope both games thrive and have healthy competition to make them strive to be the best versions they both can be. But I hope HLL keeps growing with Italian and Japanese factions
I actually agree with your point of players maturing and want to play something that fits their age. I come from Battlefield and COD, but I jumped on Hell let loose and I love it it plays different than those games but I can't say HLL is perfect it has setbacks after I experienced the game with + 300 hours on console. I noticed about Squad 44 about 6 months ago about what it is and it is pretty interesting and I would love to play it to see how it feels. The problem is though it isn't on consoles that's why I am hoping that they release the game also on those platforms. It will bring lots of players for sure who want to play but can't access it because of not affording a PC. It will be maybe a result to reach those player number s
S44 is a much more immersive game play experience, however, the eye catching graphics of HHL still steal the show, let's al; hope things improve soon, looking forward to the Eastern front out 22nd June.
I seriously don't understand this. S44 looks better in general to me but I know that's subjective. Objectively; look at HLL tank explosions and S44 tank explosions side by side. S44 has better explosions by a mile.
Needs to have theaters that are both fresh but not too obscure. Battle of France was a monumental mistake by the PS devs. They should have learned from WW2OL (which they were players of) kneecapping themselves from day 1 that the vast majority of people DGAF about the BoF. Pacific would draw a lot of players, as would Italy - not touched on by too many games but you still have lots of sexy kit for both sides and a good variety of terrain for maps
I believe squad 44 in order to surpass HLL they need to rework its graphics and upgrade and the movement of characters that why HLL was far greater than squad 44 so far thats the comparison but in terms of armory squad 44 is pretty good but it terms of servers graphics and movement of player character whos more realistic? it Hell Let Loose, so if offworld invest a lot of time to rework that they will get a lots of players.
I’m 40 and have relegated my marriage/mortgage/child income sapped self to picking up a controller and playing xbox when I can. I’m not spending money anymore on maintaining a strong enough PC. That poor thing only handles Half-Life and Diablo 2. Because of this, HLL is my thing especially because it’s full of mostly 40 year old dads like myself. The best time to play is when the kids are in school and all us dads are playing hooky to get on HLL. Never tried Squad 44. Looks like a great game.
You still play on first gen Xbox or you don't upgrade your console time to time either? And just like on consoles, you can buy decent gaming PC (or ask a friend to assamble it for you to save even more money) for a few hundreds and you're set for next 5-7 years. "Worse case scenario", you'll turn off anti aliasing, raytracing or other fancy features in newer titles.
Not sure how you can have fun in hll like this. I tried and most matches are just steam rolls and people not using comms or playing roles correctly. That pushes me to squad44 which I firmly think is a better game in every way and I've had a much better time getting teams with comms
so i picked up hell let loose like a month a go or something and i was hooked until about a week ago when id had enough and the photorealistic graphics didnt hold my attention anymore. and ive got to say that game is straight r3tard. like the gunplay is so dumb and annoying with how easy it is it just hurts the whole experience with how easy it is to just click on people with how little skill and effort it takes. this is where i think squad 44 has the edge because the gunplay IS harder and more realistic where the gun isnt locked to the center of your screen like HLL but free floats and the sights align like they would in reality making it harder to just point and click on people without stopping and lining up your sights before taking a shot. unlike HLL where you can just snap to people. what Squad 44 needs to not fall to the same trap that squad has fallen for is it needs to add MORE to the game. things like unlockable kits where you earn xp and such like HLL because earning things is FUN and gives a reason to win the match with an xp bonus for winning unlike squad where winning really has no purpose beyond winning to win. I'd love to see a campaign gamemode like was in red orchestra 2 because it adds CONTEXT and a sense of meaning to the fights because it seems like there is a "bigger picture" and a meaning to it all even beyond getting Xp. i think if squad 44 adds these two things especially the xp unlockables in the shortterm it would greatly attract people to the game. and if you agree with these things you should try and pass them on to the people working on the game because its more likely that you have an "in" more than i do.
XP unlockables like HLL would definitely improve the player retention, currently there isnt a "goal" or anything to play for aside from the gameplay which doesnt work nowadays
@@freddibnah7198 it’s daft that a game. Has game like features that make it what it is? A game? Now that’s ridiculous. And it’s even more ridiculous you would stop playing a game because of it has an activity inside of it that adds to overall activity of the game and something to actually do inside of it. Instead of something rational like the fact the gunplay is dumb as rocks and getting flick shot by a kid with a garand when everything is a one hit kill is basically infuriating to play.
Yeah they need things to "earn" because modern gamers have too short of an attention span. Fuck that. I hated having to grind for kits. When I saw I could use the satchel from day one in Squad44 I was happy.
The console release is whats killing hll. Gamepass players don't care about the support or leadership roles and just shoot stuff, people who actually want to win matches (commanders and squad leads) are leaving the game in droves.
Roadmaps are typically a way for the community and developers to see where they are in development and what they can expect. No, they won’t stop working on it as long as OWI continues their contract, but it’s hard to make a 5 year roadmap and know exactly what should be on it.

S44 been trolling hll for couple yrs now!!! Hll is far more immersive, intense, tactical, and offers a almost unlimited ways at witch a player a squad or the whole team to play and contribute to multiple outcomes and endings!!! For example no one can deny that the last 15-10 min of a defense game, holding and fighting for the objective is absolutely insane and so rewarding!!!! Off subject,,, the reason it’s harder to see the enemy in hll compared to s44 is bc in reality most combatants can’t see their opponents/enemies over 550m.
Sorry but as somebody who owns both games this whole Squad 44 is better than Hll argument is pure Copium. Given the choice I prefer Hll because it feels great to play . As one of my friends likes to say Hll feels like you're in a ww2 movie when stuff is kicking off. On the other hand S44 can be pretty dreary especially when the playerbase is lacking .Imo it should have been a Squad dlc and never have been a Standalone game.
I tried squad 44 and found in it the main Squad bad side : tickets ! It's a nightmare idea. It forces you, when you're down, to wait (sometimes several minutes) a revive. That's the maximum anti fun system. HLL system is so much better for that, i won't go back S44 until they remove that stupid Squad heritage.
The answer is no. The 24 hour peak for Hell Let Loose is higher than the all-time peak of Post Scriptum. Hell Let Loose has nearly 10 times the average daily player count of Post Scriptum. HLL is simply a game that appeals to a broader community
Its going to grow as gamers age. I started with a sega mega drive. I don’t want to play kid games. All the adults that actually mature are gunna want games like this.
1:40 Went from Quake to Counter Strike. Totally forgot Day Of Defeat. How could you? Just how.. 5:00 Day of Infamy? Come on man.. That was a fart in the wind compared to what they tried to copy (failed), Day Of Defeat.

I stopped playing S44 after a long frustration. Updates are definitely not a frequent thing. And the game is not challenging at all anymore. It plays like any other generic shooter out there. And keep adding contraproductive mechanics on top. I really miss Post Scriptum. Even when broken and unoptimized, it was fun and required some tactical thinking at least. Oh, and logistics was actually fun to play too. Every single logistics vet from PS era stopped playing the game because how restrictive S44 became.
Saw you got banned in discord for speaking the truth (or left). I miss PS so much, S44 is such a shell of itself. Added more complex mechanics that add zero fun, just more chores. The gun play is terrible now, that fluid feeling is gone and now it's a Squad ICO. They even have the framerate bug, and people still deny they changed weapon sway! HA Yeah the logi nuking and tethering to radio distance is bad. They made some okay changes but it's offset by how poor the game plays now. I wish you could play older versions or someone could mod back the old weapon handling/stamina that was so much better. Oh and 2 MSP meta. Sadge
The only thing i disagree with you on boogie is that post scriptum is in the best state its ever been, simple reason is because the gane needs more focus on getting fully optimized right now
In my opinion it really is in its best state right now. They have made a lot of patches aimed at specifically optimization and not just new unfinished content. Like improving the trucks so they don’t steal ~10 FPS, enhancing the graphics and optimization with it, and updating heavy assets. Optimization still isn’t fantastic but it’s probably the best we’ve had in a long time in proportion to the amount of content.
Will never even come close to HLL levels cause it’s not on console and the more hardcore a games mechanics the less players typically. Unless it’s warthunder which is F2P
Console is another way to pave the way Series X and PS5 can run these games fine now. I know people hate on console, but damn don’t you want you game to succeed? It’s been dead forever.
"Can Squad 44 surpass Hell Let Loose's player count in 2025?" I don't think it can. Only if HLL would be doing so bad that its numbers would fall all the way down. But since both HLL and SQ44 are not upgrading to UE5, I see them both as a music of the past. There is no way they could be left in the old tech while we are living in the times of game-dev tech revolution - UE5 (which means big and yet detailed maps, content generation, etc.), AI etc. If there will be anybody who would want to make a new WWII shooter/milsim game with the new tech, no matter if HLL or SQ44 - they will inevitably die or become way too obsolete. Both of the games have been on the scene for pretty too long time already and they will look like bad old games when standing next to the new tech's games.
Also, despite the upgrade of the graphical engine in SQ44, such thing unfortunately doesn't make the assets to look more natural if the devs didn't do anything on top of it (a thing which HLL has done the best so far but right from the start) - the buildings in SQ44 look too brick-y, their textures too clean somehow, I have no idea how best to put it. Everything including ruins in SQ44 looks too clean and the interiors despite filled, somehow don't feel as natural or believable as in HLL. The environments in SQ44 still look generic too, unlike in HLL. The same goes for the foliage and especially 1 visibly repeating type of generic tree in SQ44 :D (for example there it is 3:04 - all trees the same xD).
yeah thats another hard truth, UE4 is outdated and not upgrading is a death sentence since new games coming out in the genre will have a massive advantage in the engine capabilities allowing for more impressive experiences
I just wasted money on this game there's only like 1 Australian server. On hell let loose there's usually 4-6 full servers. and squad 44 just feels weird and runs like crap and it feels like there's no point to the game no points to cap or defend and 9 players in 1 squad is to many to try and communicate with
IF Squad 44 can keep the cheaters at bay, then they have every chance. HLL has become a cheaters paradise I am afraid and much of the community are in denial.
Why... Just why does Squad 44 NOT surpass HLL... If you ask me HLL is a boring ass arcade game where you have to unlock everything. It's such a gimmick in games nowadays that you have to unlock everything because people cant just enjoy the game, but they have to have something to grind for. It's truly a shame that Squad 44 doesn't get the recognition it deserves.
@@darkosphere3252 I don't want to play no game that has 500 different shiny markers lighting up the screen like a Christmas tree. OFC it's your decision on what you play...
i can't belive you hardcore players of both games, don't see the potential to have a campaign combined with FPS in both games. What makes games boring from my perspective is this infinite repetitive battles which have no outcome in any other plans. and yes this is super boring for hard core fps+RTS players.
You must be braindead then because every lobby I get in hll is just people running shooting dying. No support no squad leads no commanders, and no communication. If you actually want to play the game and win matches that's not fun unless you're completely oblivious. S44 gives a much better experience and the community actually tries, everyone plays their roles and communicates.
Havent even watched the video yet but after reading the title, ill tell ya what, if it was on console, it would have already passed HLL. HLL is the only game like it on console. I want more milsims. Gimme more milsims
These games simply don't work on Console, two obvious reasons being hardware and too many keybinds for a controller to fit. I was an Xbox player for a while just make the jump. They also love to overcharge us console players for less content, PC is the way.
The graphics are competitive to HLL now, to draw players back need huge content update with atmospheric quality map design. Remove all of the original post scriptum maps, there all garbage trash map design!
devs need to add more content ASAP! Then it will 100% beat HLL. HLL will always have more players due to consoles but i do think they can beat the PC player count
The biggest problem I see with this is a lack of official or community servers for other places that aren't Europe or US. Playing these games with a ping above 150 is not really fun. I've only played as medic in Post Scriptum because I rarely have a fighting chance with the enemy unless I catch them by surprise.
I like the fact that you unlock nothing level up nothing. what you get is what you get.
thats one of the many things that make it unable to retain players like HLL, nowadays players need something to be "grinding toward" to keep playing
You do unlock stuff. Different weapons/gadgets for classes and class level specific cosmetics to grind for.
Yeah it's great not having essential pieces of kit gatekept by grinding.if they wanted to add levels for cosmetics I'd agree that might help bring over hll people

Yeah the logi nuking and tethering to radio distance is bad.
Why cant both games have new players and do good ?
FO SHO!!!
Love and support both.. WITH THAT SAID, HLL was more enjoyable in the EA days, at least for me anyway...
"Can Squad 44 surpass Hell Let Loose's player count in 2025?"
I don't think it can.
On hell let loose there's usually 4-6 full servers. and squad 44 just feels weird and runs like crap and it feels like there's no point to the game no points to cap or defend and 9 players in 1 squad is to many to try and communicate with
just a shame s44 runs like shit on my pc at least
Do you have Global Screen Space Illumination on? If so turn it OFF... Until it gets fixed at least.
What are your system specs?
@@boogie5brother i have a 1050ti with an old ass i7 so im fucked regardless
I think it's about time I start cooking
Hell Let Loose is not a Sim.
Yes
IF Squad 44 can keep the cheaters at bay, then they have every chance. HLL has become a cheaters paradise I am afraid and much of the community are in denial.
Yeah people have been saying this for 4 years now. "HLL has become cheaters paradise! Game will be dead in the next 6 months"
Yeah man! Shiny little trinkets to keep 'em going! Makes 0 sense to use, well... BECASUE WE ARE OLD apparently! 🤣
@@martinsto8190 I play Squad, War of rights and then rts games
Cause it’s a good balance between hardcore and casual. Stay mad!
@@darkosphere3252 I don't want to play no game that has 500 different shiny markers lighting up the screen like a Christmas tree. OFC it's your decision on what you play...
i can't belive you hardcore players of both games, don't see the potential to have a campaign combined with FPS in both games. What makes games boring from my perspective is this infinite repetitive battles which have no outcome in any other plans. and yes this is super boring for hard core fps+RTS players.
this weekend is HLL free as a SQUAD player I found it absolute shit (as i tried it) only good thing is the graphics nothing else
When i tried HLL, i never launched Squad again. Crazy how people are different 😁
Does anyone even play HLL anymore?
Well apparently 8000 people are playing it at the moment according to steamdb
8k players just on steam and there’s significantly more console players. S44 has 500 or 600 usually
@@darkosphere3252 Ah so thats why HLL feels so light, casual and Dull.
Agreed 🌴
Nope, HLL so mutch more fun
You must be braindead then because every lobby I get in hll is just people running shooting dying. No support no squad leads no commanders, and no communication. If you actually want to play the game and win matches that's not fun unless you're completely oblivious. S44 gives a much better experience and the community actually tries, everyone plays their roles and communicates.
I’ve tried s44 multiple times!! It’s 100% a hll knock off!!! Kinda pathetic
you do know it came out first right? lol
😂 game came out way before HLL and was a mod of Squad before it became its own game, they don’t even play the same haha.
0% chance
No shot, hell let loose is far more realistic and beautiful than the failed and empty post scriptum
Yeah if they release it on console, which there’s really no reason why they can’t, but whatever🤷♂️. Lol
The graphics and optimization
It’s not as easy as you think to “just release it on console”. That’s why they haven’t done it. If it was one click then they would’ve.
Post Scriptum/Squad 44 has always been a far better game than the arcade shooter known as Hell Let Loose.
The biggest problem I see with this is a lack of official or community servers for other places that aren't Europe or US. Playing these games with a ping above 150 is not really fun. I've only played as medic in Post Scriptum because I rarely have a fighting chance with the enemy unless I catch them by surprise.
