Looking at this video again makes me want to slope soar again. Middle of winter now, so waiting for the right conditions.

Crashed mine between two trees one day, the wing stopped and the fuselage kept going for 20 feet before hitting the ground. We had competitions to see who could build them the fastest! Wonderful glider!

It’s good to see the old girl back in the air. I remember watching you fly it at Gawler nearly 30 years ago

Thanks Ray, We had a lot of fun flying back then. I'll be recovering the whole plane as the solar film has become very brittle over the years.

Carl Goldberg rules! I was fortunate to win a local duration and precision landing contest flying a completely stock Gentle Lady launched with a winch. It was also the first R/C sailplane that I could hand launch to a thermal (it was a very good flying day, for sure). This is one of the greatest sailplane models of all time. So easy to build and even easier to fly. It always performs and is a joy all around. One problem with the GL, it just won't come down.

I have the same issue when trying to land. i nearly always overshoot the mark. I loved flying it 30 years ago and love flying it now.

@@modelmakingmaniacs8600 No doubt you do. Some have put a small servo-operated spoiler on the Lady to avoid these situations. I never did, but I might if I flew it at our field today which is not very large.

So I purchased a thunder tiger 20t Olympic with a .40 Os Max engine, all electronics, 12 volt starter, monocote iron, and the gentle lady - all for $110. I couldn’t pass it up. The fuse and most of the wing is finished in the gentle lady, just glued the polyhedral right snd left winglets on and gonna start covering her tomorrow. Since I don’t have any plans or instructions on finishing her, I was wondering where you mounted your servos, as well as the esc, motor, and prop set up you are using? Any help greatly appreciated! Awesome flight by the way. I was originally gonna put the Cox engine on it that the guy through in as well, but wanna convert to electric. Takes me bsck to when I first started flying as a youngster 30 years ago

ESC and LiPo battery are mounted directly behind the nose. The servos are mounted on hardwood mounts directly behind the leading edge of the wing with fiberglass pushrods all the way to the tail section. I put the receiver just behind the servos. It had a solid nose so I removed it and mounted the engine on the front of the fuselage where the nosecone was. 8x5 prop and br2212 brushless motor, 1400kv.

Loved the video. I also have the same glider and powered it. You can see it on my channel. I just keep going back to this plane when I want a sweet, long relaxing flight. Mine has been rebuilt twice owning to how much I fly it.

Great catch! I’ve yet to achieve that feat.
My Gentle Lady is like Trigger’s Broom: it’s still flying but none of the original model survives!
I just posted a wee video of its three incarnations. They fly so well, I may even make another…

Thanks for the comments. I love flying this plane and hope to get in some local slope soaring when the wind is right.

I used to catch it many years ago slope soaring. Always a big rush to see a big plane coming at you and flare at the last moment.
