    I personally think that Bads use of language is a way of setting boundaries rather than scolding the speaker, I think when it does feel like it’s scolding the speaker that’s when it goes to far. But I feel the whole concept of language for Bad is to show when he is uncomfortable with a word, or topic in a situation and honestly I think it’s really good that he sets these boundaries. And I also don’t think he forced it upon people to stop but rather gives them the opportunity and when they don’t he leaves and at the end of the day they lol remain friends!

    Bad once told us his story of how he learnt a swear word and said it in front of his mother, his mother told him not to say it again but he was rebellious and said it again (im not very sure?) and his mother washed his mouth off with dish washing soap.
    He said it in an older stream, and he mentioned how he cried and also how his mother apologized to him.
    I do think that has something to do with why he doesnt swear much but im not really sure. But im glad he doesn't, it has become his trait and we love him for it! ❤

    That was a really nice conversation. It's so nice how everyone at QSMP try not to swear when Bad is around, sometimes they do because of reflex and habits, but most of the time they all filter themselves. I love how everyone inside the project does their best to be respectful to each other, and understand their differences. It's really what the project was made for.

    As someone who doesn't swear it is very interesting to hear why BBH doesn't swear

  • @cloud6147
    @cloud6147 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +104

    Also to clarify. When Bad says something out of contexts or accidentally it doesn't count to him or his viewers. Swearing is meant to be purposeful (in his opinion). And certain words aren't cursing to him like 'crap' or 'Hell' (Don't claim it as such).He has tiers of how severe a swear word is, and the "Language" has become somewhat of a reflex and he limits it to his streams but again its a reflex at this point. And no. Not swearing isn't due to trauma, it was a choice.

      and to me, switching the words so you can pretend youre not swearing, doesnt make sense, since the meaning a word has, depends on how is it used. it he says what the fudge in the same way as what the fuck, to me its the same

      Yet you're not the person who's making the decisions. You're not the person who chooses not to swear, but you feel the need to express your opinion on a person not swearing. Your argument here is invalid as many people use other words in their vocabulary for fun or simply cause they want to and can give them, meaning they want. You have no influence over their choices or decisions.

    • @victorgalva23
      @victorgalva23 7 หลายเดือนก่อน

      @@cloud6147 when did i say i have influence on other people decisions? my point IS VALID because who define the meaning is the people, the society. words themselves dont have meaning if there were no speakers. if he changes one letter to pretend hes not swearing its the same because it has the same function and meaning as the cursed words. if everyone starts saying fudge instead of fuck, fudge will fill the fuck slot for a cursed word

    • @cloud6147

      French family dinners (outside of restaurant) could learn a lot from BBH honestly haha. Too much alcohol and food, inappropriate joking even with child, everyone talking loudly (as the discussion inevitably devolve to a debate)... It's fun really, but obviously a bit rough. (And ingrain a lot of bad dynamics to young generations).

  • @heyguysitsme.5560
    @heyguysitsme.5560 10 หลายเดือนก่อน +438

    I honestly have felt bad for BadBoyHalo, I understand their points - but I think both sides are kind of tough to each other... As someone who doesn't swear, I think it shows great self control and it's polite, and I look up to BBH for being able to do that - but at the same time I do think it CAN go too far. For example anatomy - in the right context it technically isn't inappropriate - but using them daily to catch people's attention is where it's not something I enjoy nor is appropriate. On the flip side, I'm around people who swear CONSTANTLY, and I understand why - but also I don't think either side laughing or making fun of each other helps anyone... BBH is constantly getting (in a manner) "bullied" for not swearing - while BBH can sometimes go too far with his "language" warnings... I don't know, I get both sides, but I do often feel like BBH is constantly ridiculed for things that he shouldn't be.

    • @sithararao17

      You summarised it perfectly! I swear too, but whenever I watch him, I feel like they should respect his wishes. DanTDM left for that very reason, he is a family friendly streamer, so he could no longer stream on QSMP. But when it comes to Bad, he has just always been around people who swear. So in that case, he has just learnt to ignore it or say 'language', which is also something he has reduced to a considerable extent after getting so much unnecessary hate for it! Some people have their own reasons for disliking something and when they ask you specifically that, 'Hey, I don't like this', just let them be lol. And btw this is coming from a person who swears way too much 😂

I do feel bad for him but at the same time when you go to the point of saying language for when someone talk about anatomy or when Etoiles explained to him that phoque (almost fuck when you said it out loud) is a french word for animal, I also get why it's hard for other too. It's cool that some cc try to not swear with him (Etoiles does, he adopted the what the fudge a lot and Foolish too) but imo BBH should also be more leniant with his language stuff on other, especially when it also involve other people language

Acho fofo :)

    I respect BBH a lot. I swear quite a bit because I'm a very passionate person, and a very firm believer that you should be allowed to express yourself through speech. This belief means that I despise people that try to enforce their own way of speaking/thinking on others (aka people that look down on others for swearing and vice versa). Thats why I respect BBH, because he believes that you can get your words across without swearing, and will warn those around him with a language so they know he doesn't like it, but he wont force you to stop, he'll just remove himself from the conversation quietly. He never tries to police how his friends express themselves, he just lets them know when he doesn't like the language they're using, and because they're friends who respect each other the others try not to when he's around.

I think something i use that's a little more me specific is saying, "Holy Snickerdoodles!" Or even just "snickerdoodles!" Lol i do occasionally curse. But i am more likely to use substitute words because i began babysitting at a very young age... that being said, i may curse in Greek on occasion. Do i speak Greek? He will drop a language sometimes but if the swearing keeps going, he does drop it. There are plenty of times he doesn't even say anything anyway, like with foolish swearing. Also with hanging out with mature speaking people like quackity, rather than not hanging out with those people or bossing them, he just warns the audience there may be swearing and hangs out with his friends reguardless.

I get where Bad is coming from and like, that's fine, and especially within the realm of content creation that makes sense but she is definitely right that making words seem bad can make people all hush hush about completely normal, human things that we as a society just decided are unsightly. Sigh. Oh well. At least everyone was kind about it.

      Yes as someone who didn’t grew up in this puritan American culture it just feels ridiculous to avoid saying those words on TV or on YT. I understand that you want to avoid using swear words around children but pretending everybody is a child on YT is just annoying. And as you said it creates taboo around subjects that are just part of life. Why can’t you talk about your breast or something else ??? I don’t understand this concept of language. I could understand if you tell me to not swear but if you ask me to not talk about something cause it’s inappropriate, I would be looking at you like “what?? We are not children anymore we can talk about those things”. I believe we should even normalise talking about taboo subject because it would remove a lot of problems in my opinion

    I also don't like swearing so the two acting like it's out of what's normal feels kind of lonely... 😅 But I didn't grow up with swearing and I still don't like it.
    I don't really like the questioning, it feels like an interrogation, similar to what I go through in therapy lol, like they keep asking "why are you like this" essentially, as if you're weird... I want to feel like I'm normal but oh well. I also feel like inappropriate stuff, I don't like much naturally, I wonder if I'll ever find someone like me again...?

    Some words can be upsetting because of how others have used it around you. Some words that mean nothing to others can be triggering to others. I get both sides, as I see swear words as just words, so long as no ill intent is behind it.

    I swear in english and other languages but not my native. Probably bc culture and the way iw was raised by my family to not swear.
    It's also has something to do with the depth of the words. I can say words like shit, fuck, ass, but saying the equivalent of that word in my native language bother me bc it sounds alot more gross and harsh

    I really hope they're bantering..joking..but I can't help but feel Bad feels a little misunderstood, or invalidated. I guess they just don't get it and I hope one day, they'll understand that there are people that are not wired like them. Bad doesn't force them not to swear, and even if the two aren't visibly forcing him, they're like prompting him, leading him to say bad things. They say might just be for monetizationn, to be polite, what if its just what he is? You know..not too deep, just respect the boundary. I'm really fond of Bad for a long time because of his understanding, and mindfulness to others, that despite his dislike of swearing, it doesn't stop him from being around people who does it..yet there are some who instead reciprocate that behaviour to adjust for him too..they're teasing him, or causing a scene like this. I think they mean well, they try to understand..making something so light so it wont get anything serious..but yeah. I hope Bad is understanding to them still..but not to the point it excuses terrible behaviour.

    Censoring certain words for being sexual when you're the one making them sexual tells more about the way you hypersexualize everything, in my opinion. It's like censoring classical art because "naked bad". If you can't see a painting of a nipple or a mother breastfeeding without thinking it is sexual, you have a problem. Same with refraining to say those words.
