    I love how creative people are getting with these altoids tin kits, and you are no exception. I think this is one of the nicer ones I've seen so far. Very well done.

    Benadryl, pry bar, clipper and tweezers, excellent. I would also have a mini tube of hydro-cortisone I saw another kit where they wrapped electrical tape around the edge of the tin, doesn't take any extra space. Char cloth is amazing for fire kit as well. Thanks, this was a good kit.

    Good job! I would replace the birthday candle with a TRICK Birthday candle because they will stay lite even in wind.
    also add a couple of mini eye hooks to make your own fishing pool (3 minimum)
    folded aluminum foil
    also can use clear straws with tips melted if you don't have shrink wrap or mini perfume type bottles.
    Thanks for the video!

    Very nice kit. Excellent work fitting all those items inside the tin. I'd consider adding a very light poly bag to hold water for those purification tabs to do their job.

      +Ray Sills That would be nice, but the tin is in an urban setting. If he ever needs to use the pills, it shouldn't take much searching to find an unopened or completely sealed-empty bottle. Just scavenging the trash you will find lots and I say lots of unopened bottles. I volunteered as cleanup for a little while and people waste so much.

    I added two items to the kit. 2 water purification pills and a P38 military can opener. The pills are tiny and the can opener is really skinny when folded.

    I agree with the other comment: It is one of the nicer ones out there. I watch these to see if I can catch an something to improve mine. I have a red tin for Medical related, a green tin for
    Food related, and a blue for the rest (day to day needs), such as fire & S.O.S.
    Thank you for your ideas.

    This is easily the best pocket sized survival kit I've ever seen... It's missing a few things I'd definitely consider "must haves", but the ideas and how compact you got everything is absolutely brilliant. The amount of different solutions to survival problems you fit into one Altoid can is impressive to say the least.

    • @SeanHavanas

      I would find some way to put a thermal survival blanket or maybe even a trash bag in there. Temporary survival shelters can be made from all natural materials, but I've camped in the rain before, and trust me, you want something other than sticks and leaves over your head in that scenario. Maybe cut down a survival blanket half size? or even have the survival blanket held onto the outside of the tin with some ranger bands so it's always right there with it? That would be my biggest suggestion.

    • @jounikorhonen
      @jounikorhonen 9 ปีที่แล้ว

      +Patrick Bohannon Ofcourse depends of the climate you are in.. But a thermal sheet would be my first choice here in scandinavia. Too bad they take so much space. +Sean Havanas : Amazing kit.

    What I do is use the ends of regular-sized matches as toothpicks, as long as you have a knife you can point the ends of them & they work great.

    Cpl comments all constructive tho.
    First. If urban, keep it urban. Fishing kit, snare wire, compass etc are def not needed urban. Save the space and add more useful items for urban edc. More bandaids. An alcohol or antiseptic wipe. Some quarters. Maybe a small packet of sunscreen or afterbite or repellent.
    Then have a separate kit for day hikes or camping or even in vehicle for more rustic activities which could require an overnight somewhere.
    My .02 but it’s def a hybrid kit you have there and I guarantee you’ll never use some of those items in urban or suburban carry.
    Problem is making kits is addicting, but don’t get carried away and in doing so, actually make it less useful. Like those bandaids. They’re on the bottom! Put those on top. When u or someone else is bleeding, especially a kiddo, you want those handy. Trust me I know.
    Just saying guys, always think practical and functional. Not just make it a cram mission and lose its purpose or make life harder. Great start tho!

    Nice kit. I would stick the band-aids as well as a couple of alcohol wipes to the lid instead of on the bottom. You don't want to bleed on everything else while digging out the band-aids. The freznel magnifier actually can wedge them in there fairly well.

    what a great kit! if you remove the bit holder screw driver you could fit in something else (because you already have the leatherman). Perhaps a glue stick? with the lighter you could glue just about anything that might need repair.

    Great kit. Loved it. So much stuff crammed in. One suggestion would be to fix the band aids to the inside of the lid. This way you can get to them much quicker rather than having to take everything pit to get to them at tye bottom. Cheers

  • @jaygatz5505

    You can save room by using a cut down hack saw blade and then a standard box cutter blade... drill a hole or two and if/ when you need a handle use your Kevlar cord and pry bar (or the zip tie) and then you can add more stuff... the shout I think was/ is over kill.. the Bubble level still has me confused, the wine bottle opener....???... same same (confused).... more safety pins and more paper clips.... extra battery’s for flashlight overall cool kit thanks for sharing

    • @SeanHavanas
      @SeanHavanas  6 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is an Urban kit. I level stuff a lot and no one ever has a win bottle opener. It is good advice on the saw blade.

  • @helkat17
    @helkat17 8 ปีที่แล้ว

    I agree with @Axel Mancini that a mirror would be a good idea. It can be used as signal, even in an urban environment. There are small metal ones available. I live in area where you/group could be isolated from ground rescue in earthquake. Remember, these are not like hurricanes, snowstorms or even tornadoes-there is NO warning. Couple of water purification pills are a good idea, too, as suggested earlier.

    I would personally do away with the nail clippers and add some water purification tablets and a whistle. You also do not have a mirror for signalling. This would be easily remedied by gluing one to the lid or even a piece of broken cd. You have room for one so why not?
    There is no wire or stronger cord. A survival bracelet would take care of the latter. I would also prefer to have a wheel spark thing for fire (sorry I don't know the name) as your lighter isn't going to last long, nor will the matches.
    Having said this, i do believe it is one of the better kits I have seen especially since its so compact. I realise this is aimed at an urban setting therefore your needs may be slightly different, however, no one can predict the future. Clean water is more important that cutting your nails. Besides you have other tools in the kit that could do this.

    • @SeanHavanas
      @SeanHavanas  8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      +lea perrins - I did add 2 water purification pills and a P38 military can opener. I can shine the bottom of the tin so it becomes a mirror. I also can add a small fero rod to start a fire. There is room.
