Man I completely agree about the Image Comics Figure line. It honestly didn’t really sit well with me that McFarlane wants to do a kickstarter for another Spawn figure. The hype alone behind this figure should show that people all want articulated spawn figures. I honestly give all the credit to the people who actually design the figures. I’ll never understand McFarlane. Spawn is his baby and he doesn’t do much with him.
Todd McFarlane doesn't do much with SPAWN?? It's literally the most licensed, most popular indie comic character of all time.
Chris H Yes he is. No backing from a huge multimedia giant such as Disney(Marvel) or WB(DC comics). I would say Spawn has done just fine and probably the most successful character out of press with toys, HBO series and a Hollywood motion picture in less time than any other character created.

Imagine had an Image United crossover thing years ago. That could be a thing. I'd be down for Savage Dragon, Maxx and diff versions of Spawn and the bad guys. Can't wait to get this.

Man that Batman was bad and that's something you don't wanna do with any Batman in DC figure line since he's the heavy hitter character so you gotta do him right
I remember many moons ago walking into a kmart and being absolutely amazed by the og spawn fig....it really changed my perception of what toys could be. I think that same change of perception was happening to other youth as well...a testament to the longevity of this character...I can't wait for mine
Yeah same here! I remember everyone has that first wave of Spawn figures and it was awesome. I think they were some of the first figures to come with comics too right?

The Spawn series 24 I.088 figure is also articulated, which is funny because he's completely covered by his cape. And the series 24 collector's club exclusive Spawn figure has an unmasked head on the 10th anniversary body

McFarlane Toys have a history of releasing iconic figures under different lines, before giving them their own line.
If you look at their (quite extensive) Alien and Predator lines, they released them first under their "Movie Maniacs" line. They then released them as part of an exclusively "Alien" and "Predator" line. Todd always likes to test the market first, to see if there is demand for a particular character or series.
So, it didn't surprise me at all that he released Spawn as part of the Mortal Kombat line. Since he has been so popular, you can expect that he will get his own line soon.
Thank you for the video, I enjoyed it! I also think it's great that McFarlane Toys have been dragged kicking and screaming into the 21st century and started really thinking about articulation. Their sculpt work is still on point, so that awesome.

You’re spot on , on this figure and spawn topic. This character can carry a toy line. Todd has got everything down but we just need our leg articulation improved and the line would get so much more positive feedback. Marvel legends is somewhat opposite where they have “enough” articulation but give us less sculpt and paint application detail.
It seems like people are mostly on board but yeah fixing that leg set up would go a long way.
What music are you using for the end of the video? that base is awesome, I need to listen to it while studying. Btw do you produce your own songs? the sound on your music is so crisp and energetic!

Would love it if image comics did a articulated series from their own brands.Characters I would like to see if they did so are medieval spawn, Witchblade, Morana or Omega Spawn.
Witchblade would be dope! I would love to see how they would do her in action figure form. As well if they would listen in adding more accessories since I want multiple hands and head sculpts

Redeemer is one if the main Spawn characters I'd want! I loved that figure as a kid. Damn! I completely forgot about Freak and OvertKill! Yes I'd be so down for them too!

So even though I like the more traditional eyed, smooth costumed comic look, I just realized it'd go well with (ironically) another McFarlane creation, the Marvel Select Venom. So either of those last two releases, it would compliment. Both having living suits that are textured sculpts.
Oh yeah he would look great hanging out with the Select Venom.
a full image line would be nuts!! get some savage dragon, some shadow hawk, the invincible gang, youngblood, cyber force and more!
there was another articulated spawn figure. it was a slightly smaller scale (6") version of the 10th anniversary sculpt. Most people don't know about it because in the package, it's hidden behind a sculpted cape. it was the spawn Classic Cover series 24 Issue 88 (i-88) spawn. Some people call it "Halloween Spawn" because it comes with a twisted tree with pumpkins and a black cat. Looks very halloweenish. There are two variants. The regular release is unmasked, but there was a variant that was masked. The articulation is exactly the same as the 10th anniversary spawn, just in a 6 inch scale instead of a 7 inch scale, but the outfit is more like this MK11 spawn with the big boot and gauntlet and whatnot. The cape comes molded wrapped around him, hiding his body, so most think it's just a statue, but i have both versions and it's a pretty dope figure. The cape is soft rubber and he just slides right out of it and it's stoopid easy to put a cloth cape and custom chains on him.
there was also another in the classic covers line that was really articulated... can't quite remember the exact title off the top of my head, but it's usually called "gargoyle spawn"... there was no masked variant, though.
i'm an avid spawn collector and have been for years. lol
Depending on how the throwback spawn figure KS goes, we might see a Medieval spawn before the end of the year. Classic, Medieval, and Anti would make my year.
That would be dope but I'm not feeling the idea of a Kickstarter. I'd still go in on it though.
I'm hoping itll mean a quicker turn around from launch to having it in hand and more bang for your buck avoiding normal retail.
Great review UU! That Spawn looks dope! looking forward to picking him up. Yeah the hips are the biggest hangup on the McF figs. Almost to the point where I almost wouldn't call it an articulation point, lol. An Image line would be dope! Sooooo many cool characters that are just sitting there.

What you're talking about at the end is the Kickstarter. I haven't heard any new information on when it'll start; but we're *_all_* down for new, modern Spawn figures. They'll do well, and I'm sure we'll eventually get more Image characters. I'd be down for some new The Maxx, Witchblade and Darkness figures.

When I seen the Kickstarter fig, I was sooo hyped thinking that it was gonna be fully articulated. But nope, going back to the static statues.
Still want to cop, love the design. Just need a company to step up n try and make an amazingly articulated Spawn figure with all the bells n whistles. Like have a base ver. & a deluxe! 1000toys does it with Hellboy, DMC, etc... McFarlane my man, I see the $$$! Just get with the times a LITTLE bit.

Great review as always brother! Also Todd said they used the actual 3d model from the game to design this. Also can we expect a tutorial at fixing the torso and legs? As well I agree I hope they do a deluxe version with a bunch of accessories even from seeing him uses a ton of weapons he used in the game. Lastly, I would love a variant of his classic costume he haves in the Mortal Kombat 11 and I totally would be down for all image line of classic figures from the 90's I would love to see them do that and they can do great ideas with that.
I'm not sure about a mod video, we'll see though.

@@UnparalleledUniverse Lol hey, they're interesting so I won't lie 😂😂😂 if I had a dremal I would be doing that especially since I have an old movie masters green lantern movie figure that it broke on the arm peg so I have to drill in a screw in it but it's in storage along with my Mezcos and other figures.
Only 3 recent things I bought since I'm now working is two figures from the DC McFarlane line which is the Harley and Superman and the bat raptor vehicle which the Harley and bat raptor were on sell at Best buy.
Which I got the bat raptor for my Mezco Batman figures since it fits well and im okay frustrated since I'm not getting hours from my job now since I work at a restaurant so it's frustrating.
Especially since i was getting decent hours for part time working 4 days which if the virus didn't happen I would've been saving up also it sucks this virus had to happen too since wasted my paycheck on supplies and my birthday is literally the the first week of April and won't have money to do anything or buy anything especially since everything is still closed so yeah I'm pissed 😒
I bought 2 Spawns at my local walmart through the app, it said they have 5 available, I check about an hour and a half and it was sold out. Later in the morning I get an email that my order was cancelled, check the app, the 2 were back in stock, bought it again, got instantlly cancelled and never been in stock again... I was so dissapointed and I wonder if it was that an employee wanted it and cancelled my order... not forgeting the Scalpers, damn the scalpers.
Fuck the scalpers. I hope they're all losing money and suffering because everyone's on lockdown and trying to save and not paying their ridiculous asking prices!
Trying to get this figure has been a nightmare for everyone. I'm lucky I had some help.

Yes to the image line but closer to what they did with this figure. I bought the invincible figures they did for skybound because in a fan but I didn't line what they did with those figures

@@UnparalleledUniverse I think the issue is that companies that tried in the past to do something similar, didn't do too well, like toybiz with legendary comic book heroes, and shocker toys with whatever their line was called.
I think that combined with the way image comics writers own their characters it might make it complicated to do a line that way. But I would love it to happen
The toybiz stuff did pretty good in my opinion but by the time they did that line it was kinda going under. Shocker toys had some great stuff but they had shady business going over there.

I’d be down for that Image Comics line, I think it’s the best comic line right now because of all those original concepts. Would really love some East of West figures, they have some of the coolest character designs which would translate well in figure form. Death and his robot horse, come on.

What's up, bro! Is it true that the McFarlane Toys Mortal Kombat 11 Spawn will be released for April 13 (Gamestop), and also be available online till May? 'Cause he's just way too good to pass and I wanted him to pair up with Scorpion and Sub-Zero to recreate the arcade ending.
It's hard to say man. Things are crazy right now, nothing is for sure. I hope he comes out when he's supposed to so everyone can get him but we will have to wait and see.

Honestly, I was never excited about this figure, which works out great with it not being readily available at Walmart and such. The more I see it, the more it becomes just okay. It's due to the real-world look of it; so I'm more about those updated comic Spawn figures. Absolutely I'll be getting this though...just gonna have to wait until it's available at retail cost. Not even sure where I'll be displaying it. Doesn't really fit in with anything. Guess it'll go with my non-horror NECA movie figures.

I'd be down for figures from Image....but they would have to be AMAZING as I don't have a huge love for them. But Awesome figures are awesome figures even if you're not super passionate about the characters. That being said, I'm not sure I want to see Mcfarlane do more lines. Sort of seems like they're already spreading themselves a bit thin as is.
Yeah for sure, it's crazy how popular something can get if it's well done. Looks at the Jazware Fortnite stuff! None of care about that but we all buy it haha.

I haven't played the game, but does Spawn use guns in MK11? If he doesn't that would explain why the figure doesn't come with any.
He has a couple of moves where he uses guns.

Do you in your right mind think the execs want a Savage Dragon figure he’s not that popular just check how much his first comic is going for graded it’s laughable.
Truth be told, I don’t think spawn is popular enough today to hold his own line. That being said, I would buy the ever-living shit out of an Image Comics line

First off I do agree it would be nice to see some updated figures from Image. I’d hunt down a Savage Dragon and a Shadowhawk figure for sure. But the problem is where Spawn has been in the public eye in multiple facets characters like Savage Dragon, Shadowhawk, and so many other 90’s creations haven’t. Listening to McFarlane talk about his toy lines is like listening to a nerd banker because most of what he talks about is money. He doesn’t say much about the Fortnite line because he isn’t excited about it but he’s like a little boy with his first boner when talking about getting the DC license. In my opinion we won’t get a chance to see new plastic versions of Image characters because McFarlane can go online and see his old statue figures of Ripclaw, Savage Dragon, and Shadowhawk on websites for $10-20 dollars.
If they have a main character that anchors the line it doesn't matter if people don't know some of the others, no body knows Spymaster but he's hanging in target right now haha. I know Hasbro is different then McFarlane but still and if they are made well it won't matter.

I am totally disappointed from Mcfarlane,but of course it's just my personal opinion.
I saw the new McFarland SPAWN and it is 50 dollars and look like trash. I wanted to know if this one was better.
I’m down for Image comic figures but I think Neca would be the perfect company to deliver those type of figures. McFarland is too comfortable creating mediocre figures. He is a business man so he just give the fans just enough for him to release the same figures months later with another accessory. Every figure should have a set of fist hands , open palm expressing hands and gripping hands. Yet his figures are always missing something important for you to display them properly.
He just wants to make money for his company and DC. And DC and that no GUNS bs is ruining the desired for people to collect their toys.
So I hope NECA jump into the IMAGE comic wagon and give us some good stuff. I mean i love their Flash Gordon figures. The first defenders of the Earth release had a lot of QC issues but they fixed Those issues in the second run and their TMNT line is just the best.

I think McFarlane has some serious work to do with their DC line of figures because that first wave was trash. The anatomy and proportions were disgusting. They can do better because just look at this figure. They have been around for like 30 years there is no excuse for them to charge money for those awful DC figures they put out. Hopefully they learn from that first wave and make some serious improvements for wave 2.
