Let's be real. Blizzard barely cares enough about PVP to handle basic things like MMR, inflation, and class balance. There's a 0% chance they'll do anything about addons.

AddOns like WeakAuras should indeed be banned. While simple things such as sArena (trinket tracker and DR trackers) should be put into the games base UI.
Dumb kids.. while y cant track debuffs and buffs with that terrible old ui and graphic, y need weak auras. It screams from btches who just want spam all the game and dont want to be owned by ppl who use brain at pvp. PLAY DOTA. 5 cd, even y can handle that.
And whose going to program it, test, ptr it, productionize and release it ? That's the POINT of addons

Put the skill back in PVP, rather than stomping someone that doesn't have your mods.
Please ban Weak Auras. Any addon that tells you how to play the game or when to press a button or that tracks an enemy ability should be banned. It would help PvP tremendously. There are so many players who are at ratings that they should not be at because they have a Weak Aura telling them what to do. If players didnt have giant notifications in their faces telling them when to press buttons then player reaction times and cooldown trading efficiency would drop off DRAMATICALLY. This would allow room for NATURAL mistakes to take place, meaning a wider spread of rating across the bracket because players are no longer winning games that they would not of won before. Wider spreads of rating mean more people to play at various different ratings, easier to find groups, more enjoyable games, and again a NATURAL experience. If arenas are more enjoyable, then players will come back to them, if arena brackets populate, then rating inflates, making for a more enjoyable experience overall for HIGH AND LOW rated players.
I play without those Addons because i feel like it's cheating. Yes i might never get to the rating i could have with those addons, but i rather play like that. How often do i see my totem get destroyed in an instant because an addon says to do so. In PvE i don't mind like Dbm because it's PvE and we work together. But for PvP? It kinda ruins it when a voice or a button tells you everything that you need to watch out for or what you need to do.

I would lose my mind if all I was doing is watching for popups and pressing a button when it tells me, also the UI is so cluttered how do you even know what is going on.
I agree with you but I do understand why people use them. If I look at my own buff, there are so many trash ones I don't wanna even see. Blizz has a lot of work to do if they wanna make pvp attractive again but that won't happen

Yes, reduce all abilities and spells, make the leftovers more important and visible and the game would be much better and beginner friendly = larger playerbase

Ban all add-ons that give extra combat information. That goes for pve ones like DBM, too.
What rotation and kick bot do you guys use?
I'm so happy that I don't have to do arena for gears. Though I want some mounts, but with this changes in DF I can enjoy the game and finding a new partner for common goals.

I'd love to see one pvp option that blocks all apps and addons. just see straight skill vs skill without all the bells and whistles telling you when to do everything. it'd be interesting to force everyone to play under the same restriction. i bet tons of high level pvp'ers wouldn't be able to succeed if they didn't have 734 addons telling them when to press all their buttons while tracking what all their teammates and opponents are doing in real time
but bad ui from blissard simply will just let everyone play random. It is still skill to react on something - even with addons. The difference is that you have to play even more to check the animation or their buffs on their unitframes.

You dont play World of Warcraft anymore you just play 15 addons thats the truth. I cant even see the Game on my screen anymore i only watch whats goin on on my addons most of the time. so sad.

pretty sure ive seen a bunch of these in a few days of solo shuffle. Cause i constantly see people popping defensives pretty much immediately after i use certain things.

If people need addons to be ahead of the curve the game has bad game design. I Feel like we shouldn't have addons but the game is soo bad it requires them. Not just pvp but raids and m+. If you dont use the addons you are severely handicapped and wasting your time. Its not just the addons fault its blizzard themselves.
TRUTH. I use WA just to track Debuffs on myself. Strong one. Because i want to play in game instead of watching on my Character UI every 5 secs.

gladius and omnibar is the only 2 addons that should be allowed surely.
Its getting absurd with the screen clutter. You can barely see whats goin on beacause of the amount of frames and bars on the screen.

I miss the days of playing with mouseover and actually looking at the fight, instead of macroing everything to arena1, 2, 3. Playing something like Affliction was an artform, right now is just renewing dots based on information from addons without having to look at your targets.

As a pvper over 15 years I think they should ban all add-ons I never used a guide maybe other than a couple tips on TH-cam on kill targets and burst I just now after 15 years just downloaded a dps chart because I'm doing raids for legendary and I'm just curious who's doing the most damage and how i stack up and I still consistently go 1800 to 2400 each season

I’ve never used weakauras. The only addons I use are gladius, big debuffs, and omnibar. Starting to think I’ve been gimping myself.

When I started playing wow something like 20 years ago all my friends were using addons and I legit thought they were cheating and refused to use them for years. Now I got so many addon's I can't keep track of them all. I still feel like it is a form of cheating but if you can't beat em join em.
I consider myself a good player back in the days.
Reached 1.8k rating at TBC and WotLK.
Seems not much, but we didnt use add ons.
We calculated everything with our brain. You had to pay attention to the buffs area. Fake cast and lower lvl spells to confuse or cc/dot. Wasnt easy, but a lot of fun.
These days, players have everything on a gold plate and still cant reach higher rating.
If I go back 2 play, I know I wont reach it as well. Need practice and, of course, my brain isnt the same as almost 20 years ago.
Best advice, have fun and, if you can, record every match and see what you did wrong, not your teammate.
Like it or not, add-ons have gotten completely out of control. Personally, I’ve been an advocate of quality of life add-ons, but thats where line has to be drawn now. If one player is using multiple add-ons that’s feeding them additional information about a fight that no one else has, then it becomes an advantage for them and a disadvantage to everyone else. Now, to compete, the average player will need to be running those add-ons.
This creates yet another massive obstacle for new players to overcome. Figuring out what add-ons are needed, taking the time to set up and learn how to use said add-ons, and quite frankly how to even get them in the first place. It’s easy for someone who’s been playing WoW for the past 10-20 years but I can’t imagine how it must feel for a brand new player these days.
And of course now you have the bot problem. Not much to say here outside of it being an issue in almost every facet of the game, including PvP.
Hate to say it, but the game has evolved to a point where many add-ons need to be forcefully retired by Blizzard, permanently.
Here is a topic I'd like discussed. I know you focus on arenas but capitalizing on bg's and wpvp for things like sod would be greatly appreciated for those of us returning players coming back to try out new classes or our beloved ones from the past. There are no arenas here and some of us really suck at pvp but have those moments where we can entertain 1v1 or have a similar match up as arena in the flag room with 2v2 or 3v3. We don't always get to discuss in voice strats or even use all the addons others servers do. Yet, having some opportunities to maybe capitalize on things like positioning, CC/CD/offense trades, kiting, mobility trades, and more that learning could provide useful content for this crowd. This could be a missed opportunity for skill-capped

Blizzard needs to fix their BASE ui first. The fact minor things like CD tracking, buff/debuffs on raid frames still don’t exist is unacceptable. Fix that, then remove addons
I say ban all add-ons and only allow blizzard UI. Add-ons take the skill put of playing. They literally tell you hey they are bursting use a defense.
Most add ons should be removed and then actually balance the game around the fact that they dont exist instead of building the game knowing the exist. Pve and pvp would change alot.

In every epic battle ground you will run into botters. Like play dk and use death grip. Some evoker going to save them instantly.
Actually, Blizzard should ban all pvp addons and create a standard UI for all pvp encounters. Is this to make the game a little more serious or do you see someone using addons in League of Legends? Do you see it in CS or Valorant? Tekken or SF? so blizz wtf man.

Every competitive and popular esport has a uniform UI.
In League or Dota you can switch between observer camera or player camera and everything still makes sense because millions of people are used to watching at the same UI.
Also i think the sound alert addons are extremly revolting.
AI voices calling out spells, having Horn sounds or Shotgun blasts in your ear completly destroys immersion
The guy you point at in the start that you say is botting is actually my arena partner who I got glad with last season lol. Iclickspells is NOT a bot.. and if you want more proof check PvP him he’s high rated on survival hunter as well .. how many people do you know botting survival ?

Yea damn, this whole video is based around my argument. If addons can make me as good or better than a bot who can literally use inhuman reactions for things, they should not be allowed. They give you access to to information they gave DOES NOT give you itself. How is that not cheating?
The thing is the game is too complex for the average player without addons, the game has a problem and addons are the bandaid fix. This goes for pve as well.
The sad thing is that you probably really think that. But no, WoW is not a very difficult game except for 150 players around the world who impose extreme conditions on themselves. The problem with WoW is that players solve the difficulty with an addon and never with learning. WoW is an assisted player creation factory.

While yes blizz should do more for the addon; Even if blizz developed all these addons, you can't ban addons cuz blizz is never gonna tell these pvers when their raid bosses are doing a certain mechanic and how to react.
I think WOW should ban all addons and actually make people play the game instead of using a crutch that does everything for you. Raids are a joke when the addon tells you everything. I have figured out one thing WoW is game for the worst MMORPG players.

Modern WoW with that F22 cockpit HUD is so fucking lame. I think Blizzard needs to regulate addons, overall both PvP and PvE would be more fun if people had to look at the game and not at their million of addons. To compensate make abilities more obvious by animations and sounds, not by addon notifications.

Cheating is here to stay in every game. People are just too narcissistic, egocentric and childish to not cheat.
Any addon that gives a competitive edge should not be allowed. Easy as that.
These addons are not the problem. These addons are doing nothing more than making the game readable. The game is a visual mess. Blizzard needs to clean up the combat visuals and lower the amount of random unimportant effects and attacks in the game. Otherwise this will never stop.
Will they do it? I don't know. Looking at where things are going these days, I don't think so. But right now, the game is unplayable without addons, and so obviously if you remove these addons, the game is unplayable, period. Fix the combat.

Remove addons & macros, rework the UI a bit more and we're goodie.
All addons should be banned that show the opponents' CDs and that tell you when opponents use which abilities and you should react to them. I think CDs that do the same thing for your team are ok, but everything else should be banned. when i look at the old reckful vidios...it's just fun...no shitty weakaura. no voice telling you what is happening. just pure skill. Of course more mistakes happen. But back then there were much broader layers in the PVP area. I so often see people who have no idea what's going on in the arena based on positioning and other things. but as soon as you use cds they react to it in the shortest moment, where you know exactly if he didn't have an add-on for it he would just die without even noticing it.
Not only should they ban this addon, they should ban ALL addons.

i think all addons should be deleted from the game. would be funny to see all people being carried by their addons dropping 600 rating when they can no longer perfectly set up CC chains on DR and trading cooldowns perfectly.
trinket cd ,cc DR and kick tracker is fine,everything else should be banned imo.

Hey, I think we need to acknowledge there are people with disabilities who are dependent on weakauras for accessibility. For people who are hard of sight, hard of hearing, or countless other maladies, addons like weakauras can make the game playable. I know a lot weakauras upset a lot of people, and I agree that in many cases, they're too powerful, but it's ableism to want them outright banned, and I don't think that's talked about enough.
Unfortunately that’s a poor argument, and it’s not “ableism” (which is a dumb piggy-back term). It’s not ableism to cut disabled people from a soccer team because they can’t keep up. The whole of society cannot wholly bend to the needs of every disabled person. Doesn’t mean society should be cruel, or ignore their plight and struggles. But it’s exceptionally selfish and narrow minded to demand EVERYONE cater to the needs of a few, on threat of cancellation and name-calling “isms.”
Everyone faces challenges, some more than others. If a person’s greatest challenge is they can’t play WoW PvP very well, they still have it pretty good relative to so many others. The solution isn’t to demand the vast majority of people cater, but to do what they can to overcome. Understanding, compassion, and sympathy do not require we all give up our spaces of competition and challenge. You might as well say people shouldn’t climb vast cliff faces, trail run mountains, or anything of the sort because it’s “ableist.” It’s a fools argument. Don’t be a weak, selfish person.
