👢 Today’s video is an unboxing and mini review of the Carmona tassel boots in conker from Penelope Chilvers, a British footwear retailer. The range of boots from Penelope Chilvers is heavily equestrian inspired and made in Spain.
I first discovered the range from Penelope Chilvers as Catherine, the Duchess of Cambridge, has worn their long tassel boots for over a decade now. Initially I was considering purchasing the same pair of boots however after looking through the website, I found another pair of boots which I felt suited me more.
I’ve always wanted to add a pair of brown flat leather boots to my collection, so I’m really happy I’ve purchased the Carmona leather boots in this beautiful deep brown “conker” colour-way. In terms of styling, I will most likely be pairing these boots with jeans, knitwear and a jacket during the winter season. Once I’ve worn in the boots, I will also write up a review article on my blog and share my thoughts as well as some close-up photos for you.

A one-inch heel lift, placed under the insole, really helps me if a boot shaft is a bit too tall, I’m short, too. Sometimes even the ankle molding on the boots is too high, so my ankles hit at the wrong places, the inserts solve that problem, too.
Thanks Kimberly for mentioning this! I did read this suggestion in a few blog articles related to boots, so you're spot on! I'll have to pick some up for myself - the boot has dropped a bit at the back through wear which was to be expected, however I'd still like a bit more height!
The warmness over here is tremendous, I really never tried one of these boots before, because of too much heat, but they definitely look classy and well put together. Very lovey Lauren, thank you for sharing with us. Have a great weekend ❤❤😍

I like the cool, dark brown color. All the brown boots I see are in that warm, tan brown. That’s great, too, but I already have three styles of tall boots in that color, I want something different now.
I'm glad you mentioned the colour, Kimberly 🥰 That was one of the things which made me fall in love with these boots as it seemed unique!
I also loved these when I saw them on the Duchess.
The brand and quality, I meant, I prefer the style you chose. Unlike Stuart Weitzman, they gave you a shoe bag that fits the boots, too. For $800 US, I expected a full-length bag and re-usable boot fillers, too.
I really wanted a pair of Stuart Wrieztman boots but unfortunately they closed their store here in Sydney during the pandemic last year 😔 So I ended up choosing these from PC instead!

@@LaurenGraceHarding Pinterest and TH-cam is dangerous as I want that Anna Thomas blazer now with the bow! Just to throw it out there, I bought a pair of boots in Ireland a few years back. Dubarry is the brand and is also a favorite of the Duchess. I hesitated on the Chilvers because I thought they were similar but from watching your review I saw they are not. The Chilvers are more sleek. But check out the Dubarry of Ireland boots. You may like them as well. Happy Sunday!!

How would you say the calf and ankle sizes? I know you mentioned that it could accommodate bigger calves. Boots are normally very wide on my calves so I’d be keen if this brand caters for smaller calves and ankles!
Hi Laurel, it's great to hear you found it helpful! Penelope Chilvers cater for slim, standard and wide calve sizes which is great! With the ankle size on mine, I found over time it's not as tight as I'd like but I'm hoping as I get more & more wear, the leather will soften up. We had restrictions over winter here, so unfortunately I didn't get as much wear out of my boots this year as I'd have liked to 😔 Their website has a filter so you can search by slim calf size, so hopefully that will have some options for you! Let me know how you go!

What size did you buy and what size EU are you normally and were the boots the right fit?
Hi Liz, sorry for the late reply to your message. I purchased the size 36. I'm usually a EU size 36.5 but the recommendation was to go half a size down in this style which ended up being a perfect fit. Hope this helps!

Are these 45cm tall from the shortest or tallest part of the shaft? Thanks Lauren!
Hi Paty! These are 45cm from tallest point of shaft to start of sole. Also 48cm from tallest point of shaft to bottom of sole and 43cm from shortest point of shaft to bottom of sole. Hope this helps! 😊

@@patyleetch8526 no problem! How tall are you if you don't mind me asking? I'm 155cms / 5ft1in. I found the shortest point slightly too high but it does relax and drop over time the more you wear them
@@LaurenGraceHarding not at all! I am 160cm, and the shortest point of the shaft should hit me right below the knee. Considering that they will drop a little as you say, I think they will be the perfect fit.
