I can’t even put into words the joy this video brought me...I tattooed the words “HEALTHY MOON” on me because this song was so important to me but I can’t even believe that you were able to capture my emotions towards this silly little piece of music. When this album came out I was 19 years old...I slept on couches and lived in my car. I surfed every single day and just lived out of the back of my hatchback. Drove from San Diego to Big Sur with $15 in my bank account at a time. I knew nothing about life back then and swore I hated everything but looking back it’s the happiest I’ve ever been. Thank you so much for this.

This song makes me think about how ephemeral things are in life. The things in my life that makes me sad or happy will fade away somehow, and that is really beautiful and scary. I feel such a great feeling listening to this, and also reminds me of someone I really like. I have goosebumps every time it comes on shuffle.

I agree. It gives me goosebumps too. I haven't found a band like DIIV that hits me so hard in the heart in a very long time. Saw them in San Diego in 2017 & they were amazing. Met Cole too & talked about how much we both like Cat Power.;) And he's a super nice guy too.

the beginning made me cry. whenever I envisioned this song, that was exactly what I saw: my childhood friends and I getting excited about a wave while wearing clothes we didn't care about. I'm so happy.
Once we started caring about what clothes we wore was when our childhood was coming to an end

An artistic representation of memory
Every time I hear this song I get a really strong nostalgic feeling of sadness, that increases as time goes on. It always makes me try to do what I can do in life before the time passes, and to try to not regret as much as I would’ve if I didn’t. Pretty soon I just won’t be able to listen to it, I’m sure.

I remember when I smoked weed and rode a motorbike on the streets of Jakarta while listening to this song, the atmosphere was so vivid, everyone seemed to be in a hurry while I was driving my motorbike below 40km/h, I really didn't think that life was so beautiful, the night lights became dim, people are fighting for their lives, while some people are enjoying the night, a 2 hour travel becomes 6 hours by playing this song on and on, I also feel like an observer represented by the nightlife guard at that time, it was the most beautiful night in my life, since that night, this song has become the most important song in my life so far, every personal achievement, I will play this song to remember how beautiful every process in life is.
This song is structured almost exactly like "When I Sleep" by My Bloody Valentine and it's perfect.

it's quite easy, I noticed he's used 8mm clips before in his other videos and if you just search for them on TH-cam they come up pretty easily! hope this gave you at least some knowledge on how he gets clips :)
+FionnTheHuman youtube and archive.org mostly. some of the beach clips are from a short called "the endless weekend" and some of the crowd footage is from a short called "go!" (I think). beyond that it's all just random home movies.
