      I recently had a dream where I somehow managed the desk of Rhett and Link. (This was only 5% of my crazy dream). But in this building there was a small room, or rather corner, with a little desk and shelves over it. One half was Rhett's and the other half was Link's - which was notably more cluttered haha. I just remember a woman saying something like "And here is it!" for my task of keeping it clean 😂And that was the last bit that was relevant in this dream.

    • @lisao7600
      @lisao7600 หลายเดือนก่อน +9

      Right. It's funny how people's temperature comforts can be so different related to the climate they live in. When it gets to 78 degrees where I live we turn the ac on. That's way to warm to sleep in for sure for me at least. I need it to be around 65 degrees to sleep comfortably.

    • @brooklynn3074
      @brooklynn3074 หลายเดือนก่อน +1

      I thought that too until I remembered we keep ours at 78 sometimes in the summer because in our house the back bedrooms get warm but the living room gets absolutely frigid with the air on and living in Tennessee it won't stop running unless we turn it up because it's already so hot outside. We now have a window unit we run in the back but keep the rest up. The thermostat is up against the air return for the HVAC and so it's never actually accurate. It gets all the hot air from the crawlspace behind it and thinks it is hotter than it is. If our was accurate and the whole house was actually 78, we'd be dying though

    • @RealLeeAwkward

      Depends how you grow up too I think. I have family that’ll leave it at 80 in the summer for efficiency but they’ve also grown up in places without AC. My roommates in LA straight up didn’t let me turn it on until it was like 90 INSIDE.

    Long comment time sorry - As someone who studied gender and sexuality, I always found it fascinating that people struggle to describe what masculine and feminine means without describing stereotypes- especially ones that can differ between cultures or throughout history. To me it always highlighted the fact that we should focus on people being people first, because what we prescribe them to be is often never so representative of how individualized and unique a person often is.
    Sometimes how you present yourself is how you navigate the world and how you think about things. Personally, I think gender gets tied up a lot in presentation, that we forget that the mind (especially in contexts you exist in) is a large part of it!
    You guys share a lot online, and it is because of that that we bear witness to how you navigate certain topics and it’s in the way you speak about them and show them respect or rightful disregard. Your choices say a lot. For example, you both being open about your personal growth is something that feels “feminine” because it’s not a position our society often sees men admit to or being open about on their own accord. I personally wouldn’t call it feminine, but it may be viewed as such in the context of our society that is heavily dominated by a fear of emasculation or vulnerability.
    So keep kicking ass and being you! Good episode! And btw- I’d always rather hear a person stumble over a topic than to not talk about it at all out of fear of saying the wrong thing! Something said by accident during learning is not the same as saying it out of hate. Pretty mythical if you ask me :o).
    And Link get some sleep lol.

    As an Australian (or generally someone from a hotter climate), you're all insane having the AC so cold. I'm not turning mine on until the outside is in the comfortable 30c+ (86f), and even then, i'm probably only setting it a few degrees below that. I'll try to keep the house cool by opening windows for a breeze and putting the fan on first

    As someone who is cold every day and lives in a very hot and very cold (for a few months) state, I abhor when people use the logic "at least you can solve cold by covering up" because 1. I have undershirts, winter sweaters, blankets but my face, especially nose and hands get cold and I can't be expected to always wear gloves/mittens especially if it's cold inside and gotta go out in 90-100 degree weather 2. if I'm moving, I am revealed to the cold (yes even the littlest of bare spots when moving gets cold) BUT it's not like people who get cold say "well, you can just strip and use fans and drink and eat cold things or take a cold shower and leave your hair wet, etc." I enjoy my outdoors when it's warm, yes I get hot but prefer it over the cold.. AC makes me so cold, I can't belieeeeve 🥲 so I'm never comfortable bc I have roommates who like it cold and I feel so alone. 💔 Sorry, rant over.

    For sleeping temps, I love it when it's about 60. I sleep amazingly when it's cold like that. But imho, your body can adjust. Like right now with the weather changing, instead of massively changing the temps I will change it 1-2 degrees every week or so. So when it gets to actually be cold out I'm used to the colder temps indoors. The same with the summer. Inch the temperature up during spring.

By giving your wife hypothermia you're greatly increasing your cost of healthcare in the US. Plus the cost of all that talk therapy the wife needs from having an unsupportive husband. And those are just the direct financial consequences! Don't get me started on the physiological costs, or the impact on general relativity!

    My advice is defer to your wife about the temperature, especially if she's there more than you. Office buildings are still temperature calculated for men, so until you fix that, LET WOMEN DECIDE AT HOME.

    How can two men with engineering degrees not understand how air conditioning systems work. If your house is properly insulated once you get the temperature down where you want it the power required to keep it that way is minimal.

    The thermostat talk is crazy to me. You telling me every american is blasting a thermostat no matter the weather? Even in frikkin Los Angeles? And I have to drink from paper straw to save the planet... yeah, right. Another thing, in my house you don't turn on heating unless it's -10C outside and the windows are open all day until like 5C. The point of colder season is to bundle up, get a blanket and get all cozy. How can you do that if a temp in your house is one suitable for short sleeve? I would die of heat and stagnant air. My european brain is confused af.

      It's a climate thing, not a nationality thing. Those of us living in cooler climates are used to winter temperatures and more extreme changes.

    There is no justification for trying to con her grandmother out of money. If you have to lie to get it, it's fraud. I hope she can sway her grandmother, but she might just have to do it the hard way, like most grad students. Nobody is entitled to family money.

    Listened to it all through my podcast player already!
    When it comes to the lady and her Grandmom, I really cannot sympathize with her in the least. Here her Grandmom is offering money with the condition that she studies something which she wouldn't feel uncomfortable supporting, and her grand-daughter is trying to find ways to manipulate or trick her way into getting the money and everything she wants.
    If shesygoing for her Master's she already has a degree in something and the potential to find a job in the field she's studied. This means she can work for a number of years and find a way to fund her further education in the field she cares about herself. How has she gotten through schooling to that point, through college, but cannot be self-sufficient enough to care for herself and the best interests of her family? She has every right to study what she wants and is interested in, but it definitely feels like taking advantage of her Grandmoms offer and kindess to try to find a way around her restrictions.
    Link's suggestion for asking her Grandmom to potentially fund other parts of her life does seem reasonable, but Rhett's seem manipulative, though they were kinda meant to be as he stated.
    Just some thoughts I had while listening to thos during my 2 am shift!

      Hi it’s the girl who left the voice mail! Thank you for the input! Just to give you peace of mind, I've already accepted taking out loans, I am also going to be living with my boyfriend and I know she would be very uncomfortable funding my future when it's so against her beliefs. They are right she loves me too much to control my future but just the same, I love her too much to lie about how I'm using the money. I like Rhett advice pursuing for the sake of “learning the other side” but my career goal is teaching and if I'm teaching and writing books, I don't think she'll buy that I don't believe evolution.

      @@Anna-gggg Thank you for responding, I was hoping you might come to their TH-cam upload! My apologies for coming off a lot more harsh than I should've, I just felt bad for your Grandmom in this situation, but I do get your side of it as well as a fellow college student with loans due. I'm sure there's of course more nuance to the situation than you were able to explain, and I probably assumed too much.
      Best of luck to you and your education, sorry again for suggesting that your intentions might be negative or from a bad place, I'm certain you of course love your Grandmom and respect her wishes. Also major respect for continuing your education, my Bachelor's was painful enough for myself. 😅

    Rhett you can't be more confident that what you once believed is now a lie than what you believe now could also be a lie, how can you trust yourself? You are the final authority? Or is there a creator who has the authority? Truth is not relative.

    • @TheBrandonGrose
      @TheBrandonGrose หลายเดือนก่อน +4

      The problem with that strawman argument is that the previous beliefs were based on word of mouth and blankly listening to those who they perceived to be authority figures, whereas their current beliefs are based on life experience and self analysis.
