Thank you SO much for this fun trip down memory lane. Grand Champions are what started my model horse obsession. My sister and I had a huge barn setup in our basement and would play for hours. So many of your models brought back memories of the same ones I had. I'm so thankful for my Breyers and Peter Stones now ;)
I had grand champions growing up. My parents could not afford Breyers for me. I had that wash stall, I got it for my birthday. I found it in my moms closet before my birthday. I was so excited. I still have some of my Grand Champions.
"I used to think the horse thing wasn't an issue... But I'm starting to think it's an issue." Thanks for the giggles. I had a few of the early Grand Champions back in the day, and donated them (many of which were Maureen Love knockoffs I feel now with more educated eyes). Which I alllllmost regret, but I'm sure some little girl was thrilled with them... One of mine that made noise, the battery was working well over ten years later. Cute video!
Like walking through my childhood too. Lol!! There was one horse that could really walk.... had a remote control with a cord attached. Rainbow bright....had a unicorn with wings that was the best. 😍
So much nostalgia! I had all of the grand champions at one time. Someone convinced me to sell the whole lot for 20.00 I was about 18. Mine were never played with though.. wow thanks for that.
That's awesome you still have your old toys. All I saved from my child hood was my old 80s Breyers and I lost them when I stored them at a friend's house while I moved a few years ago. I was so bummed.
I totally forgot all about Grand Champions. I had a few of those too. I always wanted to cut the mane off of them but my mom was like DONT YOU DARE! LOLs
I loved my GC as a kid, I had two nuzzle mares and one fancy parade horse with the swappable mane. My dad originally got me stablemates but being g1s the legs snapped just looking at them. so we switched to less breakable, and more affordable GCs :)
omg i just found a chestnut toy horse that could move its neck n stuff i didnt realize it was one of these it totally is edit 8:08 i have that one and child me customized it haha
The following models and merchandise from Grand Champions that I used to own are as follows: (it was never easy choosing which ones I was after as they were all really cool).....⬇️ *The quarter-horse foal called Goldilocks from the 2000 range of foals (the golden palomino one with the pink horse blanket/coat/rug and matching pink ribbon in its tail). *The 2003 Lippizzaner foal (the black one with the white star on its forehead and has a deep red horse blanket/rug/coat and matching red ribbon in its tail). Not sure if this foal had a name. *The 2003 Lippizzaner stallion that sported white tack & a red felt saddle blanket with a matching red tail ribbon & the horse model itself is in a pose where it's rearing up its front legs; the model also came with a green stand that obviously represents a patch of grass. No idea of its name though. *The 2003 Holstiener stallion called Captivation, the bay coloured model horse that sported either dark brown or black tack, a white saddle blanket with yellow piping and a matching yellow ribbon in its tail. While I loved this model, trying to balance it was a pain due to its stance! But hey. *The 2001/2002 Clydesdale family set in dark brown, can't recall if they had names or not. But for certain the stallion father, mother mare & foal all had a dark green ribbon in each of thier tails, they had matching dark green accessories and the stallion father horse had caramel coloured tack with a matching dark green felt saddle blanket. *And lastly, a set that came with a brunette show jumper rider doll who sported a white blouse, a dark blue showjumping rider jacket, white jodhpurs, a black riding hat and black riding boots; furthermore, the set also had some spare tack with a dark green felt saddle blanket, some other accessories and a horse shoe shaped bouquet of roses. This set was part of The Classic Collection. Hopefully that narrows it down somewhat! Also I was wondering where they sell Grand Champion horse models and merchandise since I may get back into collecting. Hopefully if I do start collecting them I will have more luck with having a larger collection...i might even be lucky enough to own the aforementioned products again, but this time with other models and merchandise alongside. N.B. all information on names of models etc are found on the Angelfire blog that's based on Grand Champion horses and merchandise. I highly recommend for all GC fans to check it out x
