  • In video we discussed about the nucleophilic addition reaction of aldehyde and ketone.
    Aldehyde and ketone react with hydrazine and derivatives of ammonia to form inmine and respective products.
    Aldehyde and ketone give addition reaction with alkyl hydrazine, 2'4- dinitro phenyl hydrazine and semicarbazide.
    Aldehyde and ketone on reduction gives alkane and alcohol.
    Aldehyde and ketone form alkane when react with hydrogen chloride in zinc amalgam which is known clemmensen reduction.
    Aldehyde and ketone undergoes wolff-Kishner reduction when treated with hydrazine followed by reaction with sodium hydroxide, glycol and on heating.
