      Would that his "line" never included the presidency. That is where the decline started. Disrespect for our government, disrespect for blacks, disrespect for those suffering economically, embracing evangelical Christianity as a voting bloc when he shared none of their beliefs. Jingoistic patriotism that led to humping the flag with Trump, and above all, outright treason in the Iran contra.

    • @bobanderson6656
      @bobanderson6656 3 ปีที่แล้ว +11

      @@Operafreak9 seriously? disrespect for the bureaucracy perhaps - which it deserves. It's false to accuse him of racism. The economic rebound for which he is responsible did in fact lift everyone. You won't like reading this, if you do read it, but he and Trump have been the most successful of our recent presidents in having the lower income classes benefit from a strong economy. Jingoistic? Beats the heck out of lefties seemingly happy with the possibility of China becoming the dominant power in the world. Have you been sitting on evidence all these years that Reagan knew the details of the arms sale? LOL Even if he did, doesn't rise to treason. Sorry!

    In my opinion, Ronald Reagan was our best president since Franklin Roosevelt; there's a reason why he was almost unanimously elected in 1984. JFK would rank among the best since Roosevelt too, but Reagan was beloved not just as a president but a Hollywood actor as well. And Franklin was probably the best president since Lincoln IMO.

    And whoever could have foreseen Mr. Reagan's future at this time in history? None of the panel knew they were talking to a future two-term US president. Indeed, one of the greatest presidents in American history and certainly the greatest president of our lifetime. He wasn't perfect but I had and have great respect for him. How we could use another Ronald Reagan in 21st century America.

    • @ecmcomichael1
      @ecmcomichael1 8 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      All righty then. Obviously, Piglet, you're not a Reagan fan. I didn't say he was perfect, now did I? How about I ask you this question, did Iran-Contra have the devastating effects that the current US president's policies have had, e.g., Fast and Furious gun running to Mexico, enabling Mexican drug lords to acquire these weapons and use them against not just other Mexicans, but against Americans as well? Or how about his, gun running to Syria through Libya to oust Bashir Assad and resulting in the deaths of Americans at our Libyan consulate? Or how about this one, the ouster of the stable dictator, Hosne Mubarek, in Egypt, the murder of Mohamar Ghaddafi, who had become a sort of ally in the region because Reagan humbled him, and the premature withdrawal from Iraq, all of which has led to the rise of ISIS terrorism and a resulting refugee crisis that has practically set the world on fire? I rest my case. Reagan's sin doesn't look so bad when viewed through that lens now does it, Piglet? President Reagan took us through truly difficult times, that makes the 2008 debacle pale in comparison, and through mostly wise economic decisions, lowered drastically the unemployment rate and greatly reduced the Carter stagflation, and during his presidency and continuing on through Clinton, helped provide the greatest economic boom we've ever experienced in recent history. How do I know? Number one, he was proudly my commander in chief. Number two, I watched the transformation happen myself. Enough said? I suspect so.

      the usa has been owned by corporations ever since.
      i thought it was ridiculous how the usa elected an actor, i found it to be so with the election of a heavy drinking son of an ex president who was painfully incompetent and laughable.................. then the usa elected a reality star, failed businessman and lifelong conman that had everything handed to him.

And as I walk off into the city streets, a final word to the men and women of the Reagan revolution, the men and women across America who for eight years did the work that brought America back. My friends: We did it. We weren't just marking time. We made a difference. We made the city stronger. We made the city freer, and we left her in good hands. All in all, not bad, not bad at all. And so, good-bye, God bless you, and God bless the United States of America.
