  • Silk FC (Black) - 4 Corner Tournament - Match Highlights 2024
    Date: 29/6/24
Venue: Eaton Manor Rugby Club, Nutter Lane, Wanstead, E11 2JA.
Here's a recap of Silk FC Black’s final games of the season at the 4 Corner Football Tournament.
It was a day of hard-fought matches and valuable lessons as we gear up for the new 9-a-side season with a size 4 ball and bigger goals. The teams were split up into two; Silk FC (White) and Silk FC (Black).
Silk FC (Black) our team for this match report which consisted of Nuh, Loqman, Uriel, Eyobiel, Maxwell, and Ibrahim, with no subs. We faced some tough competition from academy and grassroots players, and here’s how the games went:
Game 1: Silk FC Black vs. Football Unites (0-0)
With only 5 players, Silk FC Black started the tournament with Maxwell in goal, who did a great job keeping a clean sheet. Nuh almost found the back of the net thanks to a fantastic cross from Uriel, but their defense managed to clear it. The boys displayed strong determination and resilience, securing a well-deserved draw despite being a player down.
Game 2: Silk FC Black vs. Don't Rest FC (0-2)
Ibrahim joined us for the second match, giving us a full squad. Noah was incredible in goal, making several key saves that kept us in the game. Maxwell, playing at left wing, made a brilliant run after a through ball from Uriel but was fouled with a punch in the back, which the referee unfortunately missed. Ibrahim pressed the opposition’s defense continuously, creating pressure up front. Nuh and Loqman showcased great chemistry with some excellent one-twos. Eyobiel also had a standout performance in defense, providing much-needed stability at the back. Despite our best efforts, Don't Rest FC managed to score twice.
Game 3: Silk FC Black vs. Wolves United (0-2)
In our final and crucial match, Loqman took his turn as goalkeeper. The team was visibly tired with no subs, but they gave it their all. Maxwell and Noah were solid in defense, working hard to repel Wolves United's attacks.
Uriel, Nuh, and Eyobiel kept pushing forward, trying to create scoring opportunities. Nuh had several shots, but unfortunately, they all went over the bar. Despite our defensive efforts and persistence in attack, Wolves United scored two goals, ending the match and our tournament hopes.
Overall, the tournament was a tough but valuable experience. The boys displayed great teamwork, resilience, and flashes of brilliance on the field. As we look forward to the new season, we’ll take these lessons to heart and come back stronger.
