RICE-HUSK PARTICLE BOARDS

- Rice is the staple food of a majority of Indians, and the annual rice harvest generates a large amount of waste. Mostly in the form of rice-husk, amounting to nearly 20 million tonnes in a year. A manufacturer in Bangalore is now producing particle boards from this rice-husk. These boards can be used to replace timber in construction. Thus helping in conserving forests, while finding a resourceful use for waste.
We did this story way back in early 90s. India was at the forefront in developing environment friendly technologies. We put it on youtube in 2008. Over 6000 people have viewed it. Progressive and professional people from France, Peru and Haiti are in touch with me for transfer of technology....I have been guiding them. It is a feeling of gratification. I am a firm believer that non-fiction media content can truly transform societies across the world.
.
Beautiful....
I never knew this before, thank you very much
Mr. Mathur, this story from manufacturing Particle Board from Rice Husk is fantastically portrayed. If this industries is promoted in proper manner then we can save our Forests enormously. Apart from this, Rice Husk also can be used to generate Briquettes. Though, Silica Contents and Sulfur contents are more in Rice husk but still it can be briquetted and if we mix it up with Saw Dust or Baggas it is more useful. Kamlesh Lakhani - Exe. Dear Mr. Kamlesh Lakhani,
I am glad that you liked our stories. Just imagine...these were done 18 years back and India was so advanced in non-conventional energy sources even at that time. Unfortunately, our government did not give enough impetus to the industry.
I am happy that other countries are looking towards our country for transfer of technology. I hope our new government will help us in propagating these technologies.
Pramod Mathur
Mikdeelo,
Thanks for your comments. We do appreciate your concern.
It is sad that in spite of these environment friendly products freely available in the market - the money-bag lobby forces the buyer not to go in for these products.
Indian politics is going the same way - big millionaire business tycoons get elected to the parliament and then make money - to hell with the environment.
I am with you. Tell me where to begin to fight these guys?
Mr. Mathur, we have received your detailed mail response. We are very much impressed and enthusiastic to tie up with you so that we can have the benefits of your wide experience and expertise in the field of convention energy generation. We watched your youtube video of Briquetting from Biomass as well as Pelletizing from urban waste. Both are quite impressive and telling the exact story of this industries. We are very much interested to join hands with you...Kamlesh Lakhani - Exe. Director - Ronak Agrotech Engg. Pvt. Ltd., Rajkot, Gujarat, Indis
Dear Mr. Lakhani,
May I invite you to view other stories under our series "TERRAVIEW", that dealt with non-conventional energy sources. You and your colleagues may like to explore possibilities of diversifying in other areas. For example, last year after watching our story, some one from Kenya, wanted me to help them set up an industrial bio-gas plant in a distillery. I tried my best but failed to guide him to the correct resource person. Please watch a story called, "Zero Waste Distillery" on our you tube channel. If you get some ideas about this then do get back to me.
Warmly

Just to let you know my grandfather invented the riceboards they commonly use in 3rd world countries richard Laurence lewellen
Dear Shayneisking88, (Richard Laurence Lewellen)
Thank you for your comment on our story on Rice Husk Particle Boards.
I would be curious to know the year in which your grandfather invented the technology for the production of the Rice Husk Particle Boards.
As far as I know, atleast in India, these boards are still not commonly used...the technology has got upgraded in recent years but the cost of production for medium and small entrepreneurs is still prohibitive.
Do let me know which country your grandfather lived when he invented the technology.
Best
Pramod Mathur
He was an Australian man but he first introduced it to china in the early 2000s and another Asian country not to sure which though
Dear Shayneisking88,
Thank you for your reply.
Just to let you know, the story that you have seen on our channel was produced in mid 90s when the technology was still new but fully developed.
The Asian country you mention could not have been India.
Warmly
Pramod
we tried to find out the latest info but did not get much detail.
Iam rice mill owner iwant to produce Husk using plywood
can l know which country and states as above location:-
I want to set above type of board unit from Rice husk in area of Bihar. Please suggest me more about it and from where I can get more information.
Dear Pankaj Pandey,
Thank you for writing to me for setting up a Rice Husk board unit. I have spent over two years in investigating and advising people about this. My advise to you is not to explore any options in this area.
It was a good option in the 90s but now the technology is not cost effective.
Thank you for your interest
Pramod Mathur.
Yu are suggesting that in 2021 it is no longer cost effective to make rice husk particle boards. What other yu suggest are cost effective products
I am sorry but we have been film-makers and are unable to advise.

Dear Dar Raj, My husband, Pramod Mathur, passed away in June 2020. I try to maintain his protocol of responding to all TH-cam comments. The concerned agency was unable to develop appropriate mechanisms of technology transfer after the initial stages.
