I have an old mountain bike I'm with dual suspension that I haven't road in years but it always handled the rough rides smoothly. Your brother's bike seemed to do the same. Nice ride PH!
The bike sounds like it's going over the terrain much smoother than the other bikes you ride, those rocks are super slippery, was walking on them the other day and almost fell on them, nice review on the bike!
How tall are you and what's the bike frame measurement? Amazon says i need a 17 inch frame, bikesdirect says i need 19 inch. Unfortunately I'm right at the cut off on both sites at 5ft 11½inches tall. 5ft 11 inches seems to be the cut off from 17 to 19 inch and both sites are like 1 inch different in their suggestions.
Yeah, they’ve got the sizing wrote down all wrong. I’m 6 foot even and I’m on the 19 inch one, but I have plenty of room that I could also comfortably use the 21 inch xl frame as well.
I would have to get a derailleur that has a clutch to address that chain slap when riding on a surface like that. You mentioned faults, what kind of faults with the bike?
Hi the bike because ware the rear suspension pivot is located when the rear suspension compresses you get some pedal kick back and I had the 26" version and you did not notice that like with the 29" version because the rear frame part is not as long...why I say probably the 27.5 would be best bet to buy.
@@PHFishingBiking yeah I bought the 15" 26" version, I may be 5' 9" but my legs are shorter than normal, a bike that has a standover that's above 26.5" and I'm racking myself on the top bar every time I come to a stop and want to stand up off the seat. I'm not really going to be using it for off-road, I'm going to be putting on a wider soft seat, slapping on some smooth road tires, changing out the rear shock with an air suspension with dampening and remote lockout, and probably the front forks air ride with remote lock out (lock outs so I don't have to deal with pedal suspension bouncing, remote to be able to do it on the fly). The bike paths around me haven't aged well and have a few rough spots I mainly bought it for comfort due to my lower back.
Yeah I upgraded mine a lot if you seen all my videos, it should ride smooth with upgrades. I am 5ft6" I think I got the 17" frame It sounds like a 15" may be to small for you. @@madmax2069
@@PHFishingBiking took my first actual ride on it yesterday (around 6 miles on the bike path), now I see what you mean about the kickback, It can catch you a little off guard when you are pedaling and hit a bump which causes the rear suspension to do it's thing. I'm planning to get a rear shock that has lockout (preferably a remote lockout) to try to combat that. I definitely need to get a different seat tho.
It sounds like your tire pressure is way too high for the rocky terrain you’re riding on. I like the bike though. I’m sure if he put some better shocks on it it’d be awesome.
Hi we did put a oil rear coil shock and we ran it in this video it made the bike run 100 times better than with the stock non oil shock in the rear. Could not put any less air in the tires on this rocky stuff you will get flats and with tubes also you have to run more air than tubeless. It was fun though. Thanks for watching.
I missed the part where you said he updated the rear shock, my bad. After watching your video I ordered the gravity fsx 275 dlx24 for only $299. I’m also ordering the 29-er just like your brothers bike, but as a frame/shock/suspension fork only for $175 to build myself with lighter and better components. Thanks for the review and take care!
@@DoyleShadduck Hi thanks, I would run the 29" wheel up front on the 27.5 bike with the 27.5 rear wheel on the back make it a mullet bike it will work really good!
My 275 just came today after I wrote you. It’s pretty bad a$$ed looking in Matte black. I may just do that ( putting a 29” up front). I just got done putting it together a few hours ago and went for a quick ride, it rides beautifully. I put 40 lbs in the tires but didn’t want to go much more because they seemed kinda cheesy. I’m not sure what shock I’m going to go with yet, but I’ve been checking them out. They moved the coil shock from the top tube down to the bottom one because guys were cracking the mount at the weld. They didn’t say that, but they did say that all new Gravity bikes would be made with the shock on the bottom tube. But I watched several videos where guys had cracked the shock mount on the top tube mounted setups. That’s not too surprising because mine came with an 850 lb spring. And the pedals are pretty sad, that’s probably the first thing I’ll change. My bike came with all MicroShift derailures and rear cog. The MicroShift Mezzo works good. but the shifters leave a lot to be desired. I’ll probably swap out all of it for a Shimano setup. Take care and keep beating on those trails!

They were slippery but the tires grabbed a hold of them real good. Thanks for watching.
@@PHFishingBiking You're welcome!
Appreciate the review. I’m looking to buy a 27.5 inch. DLX24.
Your welcome I think the 27.5 is the best way to go!

Extreme and rocky tracks such a fast descent

thank you !

Nice! Is that the Exaform 125mm or 150mm?
