Also trying to justify it by saying most players voted in December is a cop out. They were asked to vote on who are the best players, not who is having the best season. The fact that Aaron Rodgers made the list shows that they understood it wasn't based on that season alone.

Let's be serious, Mahomes was not a #1 player last year. He won most of the games because of his defense. Not because he was the poor performer, we all know it was the WR core. However, Mahomes was not the best player last year.
@@davidsawyers8754 Rodgers wasn’t a top 100 player last year having only played 4 snaps. Burrow also missed a lot of games and played mid last year. So it’s clearly not just last season award.
Just remember these lists next time some mouth breather suggests that only players should vote on things like the HOF or whatever else. They are not exactly unbiased geniuses

I'm a die-hard chief fan. Patrick didn't play the best last year. It was a lot of team wins. He wasn't the best QB last year. Let alone the best player. That's why Rodgers shouldn't have made the list. It's fair that pat wasn't #1.

The odds that Mahomes is going to play harder or better in 2024 because he is #4 or #1 or #22 on some list are incredibly low, IMHO.

I just think the methodology is screwed up, the same way MVP voting is. Poll everyone after the season is over. The post-season matters as much or more than the regular season.

Chris Long had an interesting take on the Top 100, which was players were forced to fill out the lists after practice and at night, when nobody cared or wanted to fill out more than about 10 players.
Yes, pretty much sounded on the podcats like him and Beau both often randomly picked players they liked personally , and some obvious choices.

Seems like a bad system. If the results aren’t unveiled till now, why not just electronically send it to everyone after the superbowl and collect results a month later. Seems weird that you can vote in November

In the history of the APFA/NFL there has been a winner of the Championship since the Akron Pros won it in 1920. In that time period there have been TWO THREE PEATS: The Green Bay Packers 1929, 30, and 31 and the Green Bay Packers 1965, 66, and 67. Read a history book Rich. Players vote for the best player in 2024. Not who won the Superbowl. Was Mahomes the best in 2024? I'm sure the players being salty about his success impacts his #1 status, but objectively, Mahomes was not the best. 6th in Passing, 8th in passing tds, 8th in QBR, 14th in passing rating. Both can be true: He's the best player in the NFL and had a down year in 2024.
Only 11 players have ever finished with at least 1,700 yds receiving. No one has done that twice but Tyreek. I'd say that's a pretty incredible feat. Refreshing to see a non-qb get some recognition if ya ask me.

I'm as big a chiefs fan as anyone but idk why people are going crazy about this list. It was voted on during the regular season. Everyone was saying the chiefs were one and done in the playoffs. Tyreek was well over 1000 yards like 10 weeks in haha. Its fair if you think of this as a regular season list. Which makes the rodgers thing actually dumb . But yea i remember everyone say i was crazy when the playoff seeding was finalized and i was saying chiefs repeat. Like oh yall gonna beat buffalo and the ravens yea right

like i said to someone else.. buffalo probably wins that game if their defense isn’t depleted. and the ravens just straight up beat themselves not running the ball. props to the chiefs for taking care of business but i don’t see them three peating. As great as that team is as a whole they’ve had some good luck on their side too and it’ll eventually run out, especially with the even bigger target on their back now. not saying they won’t win another chip down the road, but i don’t see it happening this coming season. personally i don’t even think they’ll win the conference but we’ll see.

So you have to put your self back to what has going in the NFL at Thanksgiving. At that time the chiefs were struggling and Tyre was looking like has was going to break records.

I say this as a Chiefs fan. I wish everyone would remember Green Bay is the only NFL team to win three straight titles, having done it twice (1929-31 and 1965-67). Wish sports pundits and writers would clarify Chiefs could be first to win three straight Super Bowls.
When Green Bay won the league in 1929 only four teams that currently exist were part of the league. Somewhere between 1929 and now there is a cutoff for "modern NFL". A lot of people use the Super Bowl as that cutoff. Some people use the AFL merger. What you are saying is factually correct. The media often focuses on "modern NFL" which I don't believe has an official definition

Mahomes didnt win the Superbowl alone. This top 100 list is individual ranking. Pat Mahomes didnt have a great statistical year but in the end pulled it together

I mean, he definitely wasn’t the best player last year. He had a stretch where he just wasn’t great. Never bad - outside of one game - but he wasn’t great for a lot of the season. For some reason all the QBs basically struggled last season. But he’s still great.
Point is, the voting was a prediction for 2024, so it should have taken into account what happen in Regular season of 2023 AND the playoff of 2022. Nobody said Mahomes playing his best in 2023 regular season, but why thats the only thing they look at while ignoring the rest of his body of work?

That is not the same as a three peat Super Bowl Champ. You didnt even have half of the teams that are in the NFL now, they were in the AFL.

He just said it was voted on between November and April in this video. Why you would even have players voting on this as early as November is beyond anyones understanding. Then you release it right before the season starts. And you dont say anything about " its about the season they had last year." I havent seen that mentioned anywhere. All it says is Top 100 Players of 2024. The upcoming season.

I think it totally depends on how you look at the rankings. If the rankings are supposed to represent career up to 2024, then surely he should be #1. However, if it's based soley on the 2023-2024 season, I don't think being ranked #4 for Mahomes is the biggest oversight.

Well if you're upset he's 4 this season, he will fall much further after 2024. The Chiefs have had the biggest dumpster fire offseason and their first 2 games are brutal. The NFL will "push" them with wins, but this thing is gonna come apart sooner than later.

Mahomes is the best player in the NFL in general, but this is a 23/24 season specific list. He wasn’t even the best QB last season. Not to mention 4th overall is still a great honor, this is a nothing burger
For a normal person or player, this would be a nothing burger. But this isn't about anyone normal. This is about Patrick Freaking Mahomes. Like Michael Jordan, Mahomes uses any slight at all as extra motivation.

The chiefs had 53 players who won the Superbowl last year. There's a reason Number 53 through Number 1 aren't all Chiefs players.
In a weird kinda way, Football is kinda a team sport, and a lesser player on a better team can beat a greater player on a lesser team.
Winning a Superbowl has no bearing on the greatness of individual players. It only shows us which team is the greatest.

Need to make sure people understand that you are talking about 3-peat Supper Bowl champions. The NFL has two 3-peat champions in it's history (the NFL did exist prior to the Super Bowl contrary to popular belief).
