- This video features the restoration of a William Rodgers fighting knife estimated to be around 80 years old. Said condition was very poor with a broken blade plus other severe injuries.
I understand that William Rodgers was based in Birmingham England and still exists albeit under a different name.
These knives I think were not military issue but commercially available. Many soldiers purchased these for their active service during WW2.
Military issue was supplied by Sykes Fairbairn and was very similar to the knife restored in this video
The knife had a family connection...so this restoration has been very satisfying.
Leather sheath was made by a shoe repair shop to my design and with me supplying the leather.
That is exactly what the knife looked like when it was new! Brilliant restoration. The sheath is two pieces of leather one longer than the other with a cutout to accommodate a belt and the blade section is rivited and stitched.
Many thanks i had the sheath made according to photos i saw on internet as you described. Just finishing a restoration of a very old toy steam engine. Glad you enjoyed the video
Well done, nice pice of work there, ❤️ lovely seeing the love you put into it
Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed the video
This is quite an interesting piece. I must admit that I have never seen/heard of this particular dagger, or it's use by the Allies during WW2. I've only been familiar with the S-F Fighting Knife and the Case V-42 stiletto. Thank you for introducing me to this bkade The restoration was nicely done, as well.
Thanks for the comment. This knife was left by a worker in my fathers house when he was a boy he was born 1932. I have seen different models some with steel hand guards rather than brass. I understood it was not military issue but purchased by soldiers.
Difficult to see two models the same. Mistake was to leave it in the despatch area of my business and it got destroyed
Glad you enjoyed the video
Beautiful work, sir.👍
Many thanks indeed

Приварить на старый хвостовик новый клинок, какая бессмыслица..

Many thanks. Glad you enjoyed it. Just editing a new video of a very old toy steam engine restoration
You lost me welding piece of steel on ,been better taking piece of 1095 doing stock removal
In the fullness of time your right. My aim was to keep all the stamping and the shank. That did not all go to plan but i had started. I am always mindful that a restored broom with new handle and head is something to avoid
Thanks for the comment it is very valid. And actually welding the steel was a nightmare
@@PremierRestorations-fh5ln I understand leaving the original markings, I respect your intent however original markings lost there value by cutting and welding I believe complete blade replacement would have been more practical, ending in a usable product instead of a low value wall hanger with a compromised blade you obviously possess the skills
Bien bueno el trabajo! Gracias por el video 👌
