I love to see a company back up their products without hesitation or hassle. The smaller the business the more significant a no questions guarantee becomes. After all, bottom line is what's it all about. Your attitude is what we need more of in the USA. Kudos for being a responsible manufacturer (i.e. craftsman) AND a builder of beautiful high quality furniture.

I mostly agree, but a word of wisdom here if i may as a shop owner myself, you will encounter people with no decency who will try and push you as far as they can an grab everything they can while compensating you as little as possible, without a care in the world if that means your business closing down.
My buddy working in vinyl wraping hears and sees all kinds.

Cam, you're an awesome dude. I really appreciate the fact that you point out that more headache is saved by admitting, owning up to, and fixing your mistakes than by hiding, trying to pass the buck, making excuses, etc. A great role model for many young people these days, myself included.

Hey Cam, very cool of you to replace the yellowed table. My "home state" is Hawaii, so I know how hard the climate is on wood ... I made some Padauk pieces for my daughter, and had to be extra careful about warpage, and finish. That said, I live in Japan, and we have all the Hawaii humidity AND four seasons. I hope to experiment with some epoxy soon, so paying careful attention! Cheers,TG

Did you ever find out why it yellowed? Would you recommend staying away from white, or light, pigmented additives to epoxy? I am trying to avoid the same issues. BTW, absolutely the best customer service on your part. Love your work.

    • @loyalty5207
      @loyalty5207 ปีที่แล้ว

Epoxy mainly yellows with high heat and exposure to high amounts of moisture in the air, two things Hawaii is known for. If you're in an area where those two things are a problem you should stay away from whites unless you really trust the manufacturer you're buying from.

Great work as always! Thanks for naming and shaming the courier company. I hope you received a full discount on the shipping. Furthermore, it was very generous of you to offer a completely new table as a replacement for the one that was yellowed. Although I didn't see many pictures of the yellowed table, I believe that it would probably still be quite attractive and there would be quite a few people who would want to buy it.

Cam, the large router bit is likely M42 high-speed steel, a common grade of tool steel. Carbide is definitely harder, but I wouldn’t worry about that too much for woodworking. If your router is undersized for that bit you should be able to hear the motor bog down.
    Enjoyed the video!

Cam, I'm super impressed with your table. I am super bummed about the possible yellowing of epoxy. I believe the first video I watched of yours, which by the way I found to be super, was the white epoxy circle table, for the sole purpose that it was white and I loved the contrast with the walnut. Are you aware if the yellowing is more likely to happen to a clear or white tinted epoxy opposed to a darker tint?

Customer service: too often people don’t think it to be necessary or just don’t think of it at all, but the act of handling a mistake or otherwise undesirable situation says an immense amount about a company/employees. Great customer service can turn a horrible situation into an outcome that keeps the customer loyalty or handling a mistake with poor customer service will lose customer trust and future business.

Cobalt refers to a high speed steel. It’s harder than the typical M2. Cobalt drill bits are used for drilling stainless steel. The gold color is titanium nitride. It is a coating. You will get cleaner cuts with that cutter until it dulls. Carbide lasts longer but is not as sharp.

Thanks for sharing with us again. When I go to make a pour put a couple of oz. of kid plaster-seen on hand as I find it great for plugging leaks. Cheers, Billy in Canada

Cam. You absolutely are an artist and a professional. You make good on things that are not your fault. And the good deed is rewarded in the end.

Thanks Cam. Integrity always shows. Your videos are aways as much about proper business practices and living honestly as they are about wood. Cheers from Canada.

Cam, definitely an honorable thing to make good on a bad product. The replacement looked great and the 2nd table looked beautiful.

Well done Cam, in how you handled The table, your videos, and most importantly your instruction methods. I find learning from others mistakes so much more useful than simply watching what they can produce. Must admit, would have liked to see more of the dining table as well, but more importantly, good to know people still award thoughtful service!

Loved this but hate Robio products. Almost ruined my project. Heres my table finished with a oil/wax finish and it was so good. th-cam.com/video/gYfjeoaBMKg/w-d-xo.html
