Randy I’ve been using The Treasury since 2001 , in my opinion it has been the best study tool I’ve used in Sermon prep , I prepare every sermon with help from this resource, I highly recommend it , and thank you for your reviews they’re always helpful, God bless you
Never heard of this title before or its previous volumes but just ordered it based on this review and associated comments and looking forward to its delivery.
Oh my goodness, that’s a yee haw of update, didn’t even know that it was released. My old copy is .. old. But I’ll gladly give away for this updated edition.
Buy the Truth is Proverbs 23 : 23 - not 22 : 23, but other than that, this is great. I have a smaller, blue paperback Treasury with intro by R.A. Torrey, which I bought in 1999, and have treasured it. The same treasury appears in my 1846 Bagster's Bible, but the only thing is sometimes the editors try to correct the King James, which is ANNOYING. I also brought a slimmer brown one from a Bible store in Papanui, Northern Christchurch, which I gave to my now late brother in law. A similar work is Nelson's Cross Reference Guide to the Bible, also by Jerome Smith, which I got four years ago from the Christian Superstore in Town for $ 22.99. I cannot remember what I paid for my first Treasury.
From the written review: The paper is similar to the paper used in paperback novels. It feels rough. It’s highly opaque and easy to turn... The upper case letters measure at 9-point. The lower-case letters are around 6-point. I'd guess the gsm at 40.
Excelent question. They're so different that it's hard to say one is better. Strongs is a concordance, so it lists every word and every verses where they appear. Treasury of Scripture Knowledge focuses on cross references, so it will provide references regardless of the words used. I'd say you need references and a concordance for study, but which you need between these two depends on whether you need to run references or find verses with certain words. I usually run references more than look up words in the concordance, but there is a need for both.
